>What is your opinion on the hand and half sword (also named longsword)?
lrn2 sword nomenclature:
>gladius=sword
>spatha=longsword=knightly one handed sword; longer than a sword/gladius, used from horseback (=used by knights=guy who have a horse, lat. equites - those to whom a horse is/belongs)
>long sword=sword used with two hands
>hand and half sword=D&D fantasy term, doesn't exist

i think you fucked up even more with that explanation

Sexy as fuck
Im looking for a good 9mm EDC.
Specifically a doublestack 9mm.
I've got around $400 to spend and don't know where to look/shop.
Any advice/recommendations?
FNS and then learn the art of OWB conceal carry that way you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a ton of different shit holsters before you eventually figure out OWB is the bee's knees.
>>32105422
How's the fns-9c?
>>32105443
The only real gripe people have is the mag release being stiff but it loosens out just fine.
So, /k/ I like to have a good discussion with you.
I'm an avid cosplayer. I've been doing it since 2003. I'm also an advocate for self defense and gun ownership.
I've been thinking about something lately. Most cosplayers (mainly females) have been worried about being attacked because they are dressed up in very sexy/revealing cosplays. And while there is "cosplay is not consent" policy, I do believe it does as much good as gun-free zones. I mean the policy is "inform someone of being harassed and they'll remove them from the premises" but I do think eventually someone will go to the extreme and attempt full-on assaults on your everyday sexy female cosplayer. (there has been stories and such).
The thing is most conventions don't allow steel or live weapons. Though sometimes activities go beyond the con's limits like the hotel's parking lot, doing photoshoots outdoors and whatnot. It also doesn't help that most cosplayers range from liberal to militant liberal. Thankfully I've run into a few libertarian/conservative-thinking/open-to-self-defense-options folks and even convinced a few cosplayers to get a CCW / take a self defense course.
Anyway, given the situation, what could cosplayers carry to make sure they aren't assaulted by a Jaun and Jamal roaming the con.
((pic is not me but is a cosplayer who also shares the views of self-defense in cosplay))
>>32105171
Pepper spray, tazer, a shillelagh. I don't know though, last con I went to had a big sign that said no defense weapons except for maybe a stick.
>>32105171
in the actual con all you really need is an assertive personality and situational awareness, if someone tries to molest you and you call them out literally everyone will ostracize them
you're not going to pull a gun on someone who tries to touch you. that's an unnecessary escalation of force. firearms are for when you fear for your well being.
>>32105198
>shillelagh
Where was this at? In a liberal state?
I mean here in AZ the cons do have strict policy but I think they have some allowance in terms of having things like pepper spray and such.
Could we modify an EOD suit to be like a modern set of knight armor?
We would have to find a way to:
give it a water supply
make it slightly less cumbersome
make it wearable for hours on end
Any ideas?
They are designed to stop explosives...it's really more of just to make them THINK it stops explosives tho to make them braver as they die all the time trying to disarm ieds...those suits aren't meant to stop bullets tho
>>32104764
I'm aware they are for explosives, but is there a feasible way to modify it for combat?
DOZER
ON THE FIELD
They're heavy as it is and they're only rated to stop shrapnel. They'd be far too heavy to be useful if every square inch was IIIA. Maybe for HRT they'd be useful but not beyond that
But I'm just talking out of my ass here
>friend convinces me to try wolf ammo
>it's shit
>3/50 rounds of .223 fail to feed
>mars brass deflector and ejection port
Who the fuck seriously uses Wolf or steel cased in general?
I do. I also use guns that are not bitchy and eat anything I feed it.
>>32102977
I want to face fuck dat wolf.
>>32102977
I've never used wolf but I would probably facefuck that mascot.
You meet a man whos 6'4 and full of muscle while vacationing in brussels, you are unarmed due to being in europe.
what do
Die because some peaceful refugee got his hand on an AK, because or gun laws are so lax.
I don't piss him off.
Does your autism just cause you to get in fights with every guy you see?
I hope he hands me a vegemite sandwich
Are there any semi auto "traditional" rifles in .223 or 5.56 besides the Mini-14?
jesus fuck no
>>32101460
/arg/ pls go
Tasteless tacticool faglords are the cancer of the gun community.
>>32101455
why do you even want one OP? Unless you're living in a ban state just buy a fucking AR.
Heck buy a featureless AR.
>this is supposed to be the top of the line CZ
If ever a trigger needed pulling, it was now.
Wtf is with your monkey hands?
>>32101270
No way to show problem without taking this specific angle.
Do underwater weapons have any practical use? Or are they just a meme?
>>32100555
>>32100559
No idea but I'd love some insight
Are explosives the ultimate assassin's weapon?
For open assassination, yes
For stealthy assassination, ricin
>>32100750
Explosives are stealthy if you apply them very accurately or in extreme quantity.
Preferably both.
Naw this is
This is a thread where we laugh at noguns
Post your favorite gun that you own
>>32098793
My Wilson CQB.
It's so much fun to shoot
>>32098793
Which stance does /k/ use and why?
A mix of both
I find that I switch between the the two. I can't really make up my mind.
I guess at the end it's more like what >>32098178 said.
Weaver because I grew up shooting it.
I would imagine isosceles is better mechanically but it feels goofy as hell every time I try it.
It's a little bit confusing at the moment, because there are reports that Lockheed has received both a $1.28 billion downpayment to begin manufacturing / ordering parts for LRIP 10, which will be 90 aircraft: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-11-23/pentagon-advances-1-3-billion-to-lockheed-for-biggest-f-35-job
As well as reports that the full $7.19 billion for LRIP 10 has been awarded for the 90 jets: http://www.defense.gov/News/Contracts/Contract-View/Article/1012500
Either way, and assuming my understanding of the contract text is correct, 90 airframes are being acquired for $7.19 billion, or for $79.9 million each. In particular, the USAF is paying $3,397,703,267 for 44 F-35As, or $77.2 million each. Engines for an A variant are about $12.9 million. That would bring an F-35A's flyaway cost to $90 million.
If I'm wrong about their use of the term contract modification (and if reports that the 'total contract' is worth $7.19 billion) and the $7.19 billion is in addition to a previous $920 million for 94 aircraft (of which the USAF paid $227.67 million for 44 aircraft): http://www.defense.gov/News/Contracts/Contract-View/Article/606863 , then that's $95.2 million per F-35A, which still isn't bad.
>>32096912
Funny how one plane can cost so much and barely compete against cheaper, more accessible platforms
What where they thinking?
>>32097479
El oh el.
Which fighter is cheaper than this by any noticeable margin?
>inb4 Gripen, Eurofighter, Rafale, or legacy fighters that are either more expensive, have increased in price past what you think they have, or both of the previous reasons in addition to the fact that they're also inferior.
>Hurr durr MiG-21 better than F-35 am I right guys? XDDDD
>>32097479
So is the future of handgun bullets? It doesn't look very impressive. I don't think the FBI will have good results using this, and once again caliber will get blamed instead of bullet design.
>>32109526
>So is the future of handgun bullets?
What makes you say that?
>>32109526
>It doesn't look very impressive.
It's not about what you look like, it's about what you can do.
>>32109526
The R&D for guns and ammo and the risk of market failure is why we are still using 100+ year old designs.
Yes they make holes in people but we can make the holes better!
We need more G7 profile boat tail pistol rounds!
So in lieu of the shit deals that are going on this black Friday, I've thought about getting pic related.
Does/has anyone personally carry(ied) one, and does anyone has any experience with them?
I know they're kinda bulky, but I'm kinda thin so it usually doesn't matter
Gunbroker has them for $250-300 roughly for the non-jewish auctioneers, gonna end up indirectly trading a Mossberg 500 for it.
>>32108137
>be me
>be police
>be poor
>have to provide own firearm for the academy
I carried a Ruger P95 for 6 fucking months. They are actually fantastic blue collar guns. They're heavy as fuck, but go bang every single time you pull the trigger. There is literally nothing not to like for the price point.
>>32108137
Really great reliable guns, literally will survive the apocalypse, but they're heavy as fuck. I think they're almost 40 ounces.
>>32108164
Fair enough, I got kinda burned out on automatics
bought a Glock 27 that would not reliably strike, I got it used from some guy who probably sold it because of the same problem
thinking a hammer fired might be more reliable than a striker (from handguns), I'm not an expert by any means but it just seems that way to me.
