Ever been surprised by what kind of firearm someone owns after meeting them?
>Be me, friends with a guy since high school. We’ll call him F.
>F has three daughters now, and the eldest just got her first boyfriend. F’s an okay guy, really. Works as a foreman for a company that specializes in building fancy log homes.
>F calls me three nights ago, invites me down to a hunting trip.
>Fuck yeah, haven’t gotten to go shoot yet this season, readily agree.
>”Oh yeah, daughter’s boyfriend’ll be coming with us. He’s never gone hunting before.”
>Neat, so we’re there to teach him, right?
>“Pretty much. I want to get a feel for who he is.”
>Ask if I should bring my beat up SMLE for him or something.
>“Naw, he has a rifle.”
>Fast forward to the next day, we meet up at our usual spot, start shooting the shit.
>Old Chevy truck rolls up after twenty odd minutes, visibly nervous highschooler inside.
>For the purposes of this story, let’s call him K.
>K’s pretty middle of the road, all told. Not too tall, not very loud, not fat, pretty smart.
>Half black, but no trace of a negrish accent. ~16 years old. Pic related, he’s #30.
>Friend introduces me, we say our hellos, start hiking out to our spot.
>It’s a nice cabin up in the mountains that belonged to an uncle of mine until he died in a boating accident.
>BS’ing around, asking K about himself, teaching him little things about various plants and stuff as we hike out.
>After three hours of walking in the mountains, we get to our cabin and set up camp.
>Some squirrel had crawled in the chimney and died, so the whole place stank.
>Wasn’t too cold, so we cooked dinner inside and decided to lounge around on some rocks out front.
>Happened to see a black bear down the hill a ways while we were cleaning our rifles, which was nice. Usually they stick further north.
>About thirty minutes later, F asks K about the rifle.

>Turns out he wears hearing aids, says he got them from a particularly festive 4th of July when he was two or three.
>Lesson learned, head out.
>Scout two or three different spots before we finally choose one.
>It was nice. Fallen log to hide behind, I counted four different trails within about three hundred yards of us, not a lot of underbrush.
>Should be noted that K was carrying with an empty chamber and a round in his hand, because evidently a Martini Henry doesn’t have a safety.
>We each choose a trail to watch, and settle in for a while.
>It was a beautiful day. Clear skies, not too cold, practically no breeze to speak of.
>Four, five hours pass. F starting to get a little nervous; I think he wanted to be big and shoot something in front of K.
>Hear some rustling from over by K’s trail.

Sup /k/ who all here reloads their own ammo?
im looking into getting into reloading some .223/5.56
i used to do alot of trap shooting and i reloaded my own shotgun shells for it, but i just bought myself a mossberg MMR .223 today for $607 after tax and will be picking it up on monday along with 500 rounds. I had some very worth while savings reloading my own shotgun shells so id imagine simmilar with .223.
although this world is a bit new to me as it does differ from shells so i was wondering what beginner advice i could get
im not really looking into compitition shooting as there isnt anything for rifles in my area so it will be mostly for the range and perhaps coyotes if i get the chance

Single stage reloading can be cheap and makes sense. Progressive presses are more and your break even point is much higher. How many rounds per year do you think you will shoot?

In the 1700s and much of the 1800s, picnic viewing parties made up of aristocrats and womenfolk used to sit off side of a battle to watch militaryfolk die. It was used as a form of entertainment, with no filter, no censorship, just you, your food, your entertainment, at your leisure.
What would it take to bring something like this back?
What would it take to bring an active LIVE battlefield to the viewing public, for everyone to see? Not just the boring after effects or those weird Liveleak videos where "sad" music is played for added effect. But live combat footage as it happens?
We shouldn't be forced to rely on ISIS videos that are filmed like airsoft videos, should we?

Having information streamed online like that would be a disadvantage. The enemy could watch it to know where you are and where you're going. Even video delayed by hours could give vital information.

Would you reconsider the use of .22lr in a head for the hills SHTF scenario if you could easily get unregulated uppressors in the states?
I have been testing .22lr subsonics into 3/4 pine boards and have been impressed. Then of course you have mini mags etc etc which wont be as effective when suppressed.
As a civilian you should be avoiding confrontation and a suppressed .22lr and a ghillie suit would be a good combination for killing hunter force morale in dense woodland.
You can also carry 1000's of rounds...

Bring this to /arg/ but for the mean time, I would really look into Ballistic Advantage for barrels. The Hanson profile is pretty great and very light, which will help with SPR's since they usually end up on the heavier end of the spectrum. I'm also the resident, VLTOR MUR + Noveske Lower + BA barrel shill, so take my advice for what it is
