Ever been surprised by what kind of firearm someone owns after meeting them?
>Be me, friends with a guy since high school. We’ll call him F.
>F has three daughters now, and the eldest just got her first boyfriend. F’s an okay guy, really. Works as a foreman for a company that specializes in building fancy log homes.
>F calls me three nights ago, invites me down to a hunting trip.
>Fuck yeah, haven’t gotten to go shoot yet this season, readily agree.
>”Oh yeah, daughter’s boyfriend’ll be coming with us. He’s never gone hunting before.”
>Neat, so we’re there to teach him, right?
>“Pretty much. I want to get a feel for who he is.”
>Ask if I should bring my beat up SMLE for him or something.
>“Naw, he has a rifle.”
>Fast forward to the next day, we meet up at our usual spot, start shooting the shit.
>Old Chevy truck rolls up after twenty odd minutes, visibly nervous highschooler inside.
>For the purposes of this story, let’s call him K.
>K’s pretty middle of the road, all told. Not too tall, not very loud, not fat, pretty smart.
>Half black, but no trace of a negrish accent. ~16 years old. Pic related, he’s #30.
>Friend introduces me, we say our hellos, start hiking out to our spot.
>It’s a nice cabin up in the mountains that belonged to an uncle of mine until he died in a boating accident.
>BS’ing around, asking K about himself, teaching him little things about various plants and stuff as we hike out.
>After three hours of walking in the mountains, we get to our cabin and set up camp.
>Some squirrel had crawled in the chimney and died, so the whole place stank.
>Wasn’t too cold, so we cooked dinner inside and decided to lounge around on some rocks out front.
>Happened to see a black bear down the hill a ways while we were cleaning our rifles, which was nice. Usually they stick further north.
>About thirty minutes later, F asks K about the rifle.

>“It’s a mark five model C Martini-Henry, sir.”
>I hadn’t a clue what that even is, but F did. Evidently I’ve been missing out big time by not watching some movie called Zulu.
>They talk about it for a while, actually getting on decently, I throw in a question every once in a while.
>He’d taken good care of it. Besides a couple superficial dings in the barrel and a pair of parallel scratches on the stock, it was practically pristine.
>It fires a massive slug, by the way. I eyeballed it to about the size of a .45 round, cartridge and all.
>Dick around for a couple more hours, go to bed.
>F and I wake up before K, cook breakfast, check the weather, etcetera.
>Forty-five minutes later, we’ve gotta go if we’re going to get anything done today.
>Start hollering at K to wake him up.
>Nothing.
>F says he’ll handle it, I start prepping the cabin for another month without occupants.
>F comes in with a pan full of water, pours it in K’s face.
>K wakes up spluttering, looks kinda confused when F tells him we woke an hour ago.
>Fumbles in his bag for something, puts them in his ears.
>Turns out he wears hearing aids, says he got them from a particularly festive 4th of July when he was two or three.
>Lesson learned, head out.
>Scout two or three different spots before we finally choose one.
>It was nice. Fallen log to hide behind, I counted four different trails within about three hundred yards of us, not a lot of underbrush.
>Should be noted that K was carrying with an empty chamber and a round in his hand, because evidently a Martini Henry doesn’t have a safety.
>We each choose a trail to watch, and settle in for a while.
>It was a beautiful day. Clear skies, not too cold, practically no breeze to speak of.
>Four, five hours pass. F starting to get a little nervous; I think he wanted to be big and shoot something in front of K.
>Hear some rustling from over by K’s trail.

>Eight point buck, about one-fifty yards off, heading towards us.
>K notices it, looks over at F, mouthing that he doesn’t really know where to shoot a deer.
>F circling his lungs.
>Deer gets to about seventy five yards off before K understands.
>Opens the breech, loads a round.
>Snick-click, pop.
>Buck’s head instantly swivels over to us, tail in the air.
>Aw fuck.
>K sighs, fiddles with his hearing aids, then closes the lever and fires quicker than I’ve seen him move yet.
>Can’t really see, our little area is full of smoke now.
>Don’t want to risk spooking it if he hit it, so we sit there and wait for it to clear.
>He hit it alright.
>Pic related.

Sup /k/ who all here reloads their own ammo?

im looking into getting into reloading some .223/5.56

i used to do alot of trap shooting and i reloaded my own shotgun shells for it, but i just bought myself a mossberg MMR .223 today for $607 after tax and will be picking it up on monday along with 500 rounds. I had some very worth while savings reloading my own shotgun shells so id imagine simmilar with .223.

although this world is a bit new to me as it does differ from shells so i was wondering what beginner advice i could get

im not really looking into compitition shooting as there isnt anything for rifles in my area so it will be mostly for the range and perhaps coyotes if i get the chance

Single stage reloading can be cheap and makes sense. Progressive presses are more and your break even point is much higher. How many rounds per year do you think you will shoot?
>>
>>32127109
good question, havent really though much about how much id shoot, id guess really anywhere from 1000 to as much as 3-4000

In the 1700s and much of the 1800s, picnic viewing parties made up of aristocrats and womenfolk used to sit off side of a battle to watch militaryfolk die. It was used as a form of entertainment, with no filter, no censorship, just you, your food, your entertainment, at your leisure.

What would it take to bring something like this back?

What would it take to bring an active LIVE battlefield to the viewing public, for everyone to see? Not just the boring after effects or those weird Liveleak videos where "sad" music is played for added effect. But live combat footage as it happens?

We shouldn't be forced to rely on ISIS videos that are filmed like airsoft videos, should we?

imagine a non-stop sea of drones following individual teams of combatants in Raqqa or Iraq or the Congo

we could have "Heroes of the Week" or show harrowing survival feats where men escape death by the width of a cunt hair.

We could have replays

Closes ups of combatants final moments. And there would be a massive audience, like the Gladiator days. Think about it, /k/. What if war is the next stage of entertainment? What if humanity stopped jerking off to simulations of war (see every war film) and instead grew to embrace the real thing?
>>
With modern weaponry and the rate at which wars are fought todsy your dreams will remain dreams armies don't line up and shoot at eachother anymore and battles aren't being fought out in open fields it happening in people's homes and streets
>>
Having information streamed online like that would be a disadvantage. The enemy could watch it to know where you are and where you're going. Even video delayed by hours could give vital information.

Would you reconsider the use of .22lr in a head for the hills SHTF scenario if you could easily get unregulated uppressors in the states?

I have been testing .22lr subsonics into 3/4 pine boards and have been impressed. Then of course you have mini mags etc etc which wont be as effective when suppressed.

As a civilian you should be avoiding confrontation and a suppressed .22lr and a ghillie suit would be a good combination for killing hunter force morale in dense woodland.

You can also carry 1000's of rounds...

I was actually very unimpressed with cci quiet penetration in pine boards and performance in water jug penetration.

But it is very quiet in my unsuppressed 10/22
>>
>>32125911

I havent touched the quiet CCI, I am just using CCI subsonic at 1050fps. I have a .223 can on mine so it is pretty quiet.

I'm normally an AK guy, but I developed a great need to build an AR. I'm thinking an SPR like rifle so far I've decided on the following parts:
>Noveske Gen 1 lower
>VLTOR MUR upper
>Black Hole Weaponry 1/7 18 inch SPR barrel
Do you guys have any suggestions for my build?

Bring this to /arg/ but for the mean time, I would really look into Ballistic Advantage for barrels. The Hanson profile is pretty great and very light, which will help with SPR's since they usually end up on the heavier end of the spectrum. I'm also the resident, VLTOR MUR + Noveske Lower + BA barrel shill, so take my advice for what it is
>>
>>32124980
Alright, thanks. I'll look into BA barrels. I don't like posting in /arg/ usually because a lot of tripfags yell at each other and my questions rarely get answered.

Russia successfully tests ICBM train that can travel 1,500 miles a day and blend in with other locomotives before launching its missiles. The mobile weapons platforms carries 6 Yars or Yars-M with their command units, and is expected to come operational between 2018 and 2020. The Yars missile carries 4 250 kiloton warheads each, and have a range of 6,800 miles.

You know how if you combine slavs + boats you end up with a national disaster/humiliation?
Well, they're not nearly as terrible with trains, but still pretty fucking awful. Just wait until Ivan gets fucking ploughed out of his skull on vodka, parks his lada on the train line and derails it, then sit back and watch the lunacy that will come to pass with a combination of vodka, lada's, rocket propellent and a nuke mixed in with it.
