Is it worth it to join the national guard to learn about AR's and shooting while also getting paid? Is the training actually worth it or better to save up and get training from a private Org?

if you're joining the guard to learn how to be super operator man you'll be disappointed. You do get some training but sounds like you'd be better off taking some classes.

Benefits are neat tho.
>>
former national guard Infantryman here, after basic training, shot live rounds 5 times. 3 times for quals, 2 times for live fire stx lanes.

the pay is shit, the training is shit, that's a terrible reason to join the guard

Nogunz here

Big firearms fan but I don't get go shooting nearly as much as I like because my dad owns all the guns I've ever shot. Looking to buy one of my own but I'm kinda torn as to what I want.

A handgun sounds great because there's a small indoor range not 5 minutes from my house. Plus being able to take classes and CC would be nice too. If I were to get a handgun I think I'd want a Ruger Security-Six in .357 with a 4 inch barrel, I dig old-ish revolvers.

I really like the idea of a tacticool semi auto shotgun like a Saiga because there are so many fun varieties of shotgun ammo and I could just load up mags full of whichever ammo type and label each mag appropriately. There's a gunshop around me selling an Eksen MKA 1919 for $575 so that's a possibility (Pic related).

As for rifles, I like old ones so some kind of bolt action with character or reproduction FAL would be applicable I think. I really like the Kel-Tec SUB 2000s too, but I'd want one in 9mm that takes Glock mags so I can stick a 32 rounder in there, plus they're probably let me shoot it at the pistol range near my house. Unfortunately those are the most desirable kind so they're hard to come by.

What should I consider when making my decision?

Unfortunately shotgun shells are not all that reliable out of a box mag. I looked at the same style of gun for my first and ultimately went with a 9mm pistol. Obviously you will make the final decision. Just read up on reliability and learn to find a lot least a second if not a third opinion.

Given pilots of comparable skill, which would have the edge in a dogfight: a late-production F-14D or F-15C?

1 pics an air superiority fighter, the other is a fleet interceptor.

If they are dogfighting neither pilot has any skill, comparative or otherwise.

Does anyone else feel a certain way about weapons instinctively just based on their action?
Straight blowback is the caveman of guns brutal and dumb.
Gas pistons on the other hand are just cheating, tarted up blowback and no better than they should be.
Recoil action, now that is for gentlemen.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as direct impingement, is in fact the Stoner gas system, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, true expanding gas system. The Stoner gas system is not an direct impingement system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning gas operated system made useful by the bolt carrier expansion chamber, bolt and gas rings comprising a full gas system as defined by CIP/SAAMI.
Many firearm users run a modified version of the Stoner gas system, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of the true expanding gas system which is widely used today is often called “direct impingement”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the true expanding gas system system, developed by Eugene Stoner. There really is a direct impingement, and other guns are using it, but it is just a part of the system those guns use.
The gas system: the part in the system that allocates the rifle's gas to the bolt carrier group. The gas system is an essential part of a firearm, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete firearm design. Direct impingement is normally used in combination with direct action on the gas key: the whole Stoner gas system is basically the expansion chamber with direct impingement added, or the true expanding gas system. All the so-called “direct impingement” firearms are really combinations of the true expanding gas system.

Okay really stupid question, I'll admit that

How does the barrel stay where it's supposed to be in a short recoil gun

It's not bolted to the receiver or whatever, because it has to slide

Alright /k/, so I live in one of the few terror-free countries left in Europistan, but with open borders is probably a question of time before they target us too. My question is, for those who served in the middle east, what should people look for to prevent them from being met with a truck of peace or a a knife wielding hadji? Situational awareness is key but do this people act a certain way before committing their atrocities?

What kind of shooting do you plan to do? Are you going to be carrying it long distances or will it be more of a bench gun? Different barrels are good for different things. Pencil barrels (as I recall) are designed to be light weight, easy to carry, relatively accurate cold-though they lose some of that as they heat up, and quick to cool down and with minimal deformation. Bull barrels, on the other hand, are fucking heavy if you have to hump them around, often tend to perform better after a couple of rounds and can handle extended use with a negligible loss of accuracy (more thermal mass). There are also all kinds of designs on between, from finned, fluted, twisted, and who knows what the fuck else. Decide what you want your rifle to be and then worry about the barrel.
>>
>>34901257
just get a regular gov profile barrel you idort

or get a Ballistic Advantage hansen profile barrel if you're not retarded

Wait, like folding how? Are we talking FMG9? Those weird phone-shaped derringers? Something like the .22 that fits in its own stock?

Also, no. It's going to be another 9mm in a new barrel/grip length combination.

Either that or a very similar gun to the P320 as their "last chance, Mr. Army" gun.

>>
>>34900513
I dont really know what aspects computer engineering covers, you could likely get into the defence industry with it but youd either be a code monkey or a hardware jockey working on specific systems, i.e inbuilt comms/command consoles for vehicles, as opposed to gucci shit like helping design stealth fighters. Then again, all depends on your area of knowledge and what you consider gucci shit.

Then you are probably deployed special operations, are using an issued gun, and have a giant logistics chain behind you to replace any parts.
