/v/isitor here. I just read this, and while I have no trouble imagining the infantry, tank and air battles based on Arma, DCS and countless movies, I'm having a hard time picturing the naval warfare, specifically subs. Can you recommend some visual aids that show what a nuclear sub looks like inside, the whole process of detecting and tracking enemy ships on passive sonar, sonobuoys, targeting and guiding torpedoes, while avoiding detection yourself? Are there any good documentaries or acceptably realistic movies or vidya?
I know there's Dangerous Waters but it looks like it takes 100 hours just to get a basic grip on the controls.
>>34904280
try Cold Waters if you want a poor mans Dangerous Waters
But seriously, get into DW with the RA mod it's sick as fuck.
Otherwise ASW is jokingly referred to as "Awful slow warfare". The weapons are slow, take 10+minutes to hit targets at times, detection and classification also takes a long ass time, the boats move at 5 knots or less. It makes for great books with lots of tension but movies and games don't ever accurately portray it because errybody got ADHD in the last 15 years.

Go watch The Hunt for Red October. It has some nice sub shots. Also Sean fucking Connery in his prime.
>>34904280
between torpedos and counter torpedos and subs calling in air strikes to drop more torpedos I don't know how a sub can even kill another sub, idealy you'd think they'd load a fuck ton of anti torpedos
It's a friday night. I know a few of you are vets, anyone got some /k/ommando feels, stories to let out? I understand the stories are pretty rough, so apologies if I'm breaking some board culture rules.

/fit/ poster here, probably gonna end up going to see a doctor for depression, I'm not sure I should be taking L-Tyrocine without seeing a doc first to confirm it.
In the meanwhile, I'm going to force myself to go out to a bar or a hookah lounge or something

Have you ever been in an abusive relationship with another gun savvy person that ended up jeopardizing your personal safety?
Were you ever the abuser?
What are the signs of abusive people on the range or in gun shops?
What drugs are they on (pic related)?
I met a nice handsome young man who told me all sorts of cool bits of information on obsolescent machinery and weapons but right as we were talking about the development of the Bergmann pistols he was pulled away at the collar by this brute of a man with rancid breath and a real argumentative personality. He started screaming about forward assists or something but it all happened so fast.
I flagged the brute down and took his hand off of my gun savvy friend's collar, but I couldn't get a word in because he was listening to music through his head phones, it was so loud he couldn't hear me, it sounded like he was listening to anime op's that /k/ listened to in 2007.
This was a real downer to see such stressful situations happen at the gun range and I couldn't do anything about it because It's not right to get in the middle of a consenting couple. I just want to remind you guys that if this ever happens to you, it's okay to seek help. The summerfags are gone, and now there's room on this board for range spousal abuse threads. Tell me about when your boyfriend or grillfriend abused you publicly at the gun range

I was considering buying an air pistol.
I read up on all my local laws and I know how to be store it and all that good stuff.
I was curious as to if there are differences between air pistols, how long can you leave a co2 tank in a pistol, or if some pistols are springloaded. I am kind of new to this so I am looking for info, thanks.

I only have a revolver for self-defense, so I keep imagining how left-handed people deal with guns. Do you guys prefer guns made specifically for left-handed or ambidextrous? How do you deal with that bolt-action?
I'm not a lefty but everyone I know who shoots left handed just deals with it
Certain things like ambi selectors are cool but not a lot of people I know will go out of their way to do something

>checked.
>>34903380
VZ58 is good for lefty shooters
I'm left handed but learned to shoot with either one.

Was thinking of buying my first gun today a hipoint for 119$
However I've been known to have a temper and can fly into a rage. I know the idea of at least threatening my family with a gun will pop into my head from time to time. Tho I'm not sure if I would do it. I've never done it before with any weapon.
Should I get the gun

Kill yourself
Kosciuszko's Squadron.
American pilots volunteer to fight in the Polish-Soviet war. They participate in the Battle of Warsaw, helping to prevent the Communists from reaching Germany, saving the West.
One of them was the creator of King Kong. He crashed and was taken prisoner by the Soviets, but escaped before the war ended. Got back to the Sates and made the 1930's classic.

I am seriously considering joining the French foreign legion.I am from a shitty Balkan country and the pay for a job for a guy in my age (22) is 400 euros tops, whereas in the legion it is 1000 euros first year and 3000 the next years if I wish to deploy overseas.I want a new start in life, the money and mainly the adventure and I want to see Africa and other exotic locations.I do a little bit of photography and I have a leica m6,I shoot film and I think I can take a lot of photos on my 5 years there. Is the FFL considered a good unit, that stands its reputation even today?I want it to be a challenge,I have already served in my arms special forces and I was disappointed it was not as hard as my father said, who served in the 80s(we have a bit of a competition between us).I am physically very fit,a little thin perhaps, but lean and I can run marathons and walk very long distances and have very good aim.I want to do something that is challenging and I don't want to be disappointed if it is too easy.I want to do something that I will remember in my later years. So what do you think, any ideas? Are the FFL a strong unit with hard training, because thats what I am looking for.
Good luck if you don't know any french. It seems like theyd take anyone, but nope.
