It is now a tradition in the USA to try to beat the record of Lee Oswald, the greatest shooter of all times.

Every year, the best sharpshooters of the country gather in Texas for the annual contest.

Each of them is armed with a perfect replica of Oswald's Carcano. The shooting field is set up to replicate the conditions of the grim day President JFK died... Including height and wind.

A target tours around the path at the same speed of the then-Presidential car, and each contestant takes his turn trying to beat Oswald's record.

So far, nobody has succeeded... But beware, because the organizers have promised that next year there will be room for an "open" category where all sorts of weapons can be used, including crossbows and mortars.

The event is so big it drags thousands of gun nuts from all over America, and even some international shooters, who enjoy their sunny days in the old South.

The shot really isn't as super-humanly hard as made out.

Also I don't think this event really exists.

I was in Dallas a few months ago. The plaza is much smaller than I thought and the shot was only 78 yards. Anyone who has shot a deer on the move could have made that shot.

Picked up this rough Iver Johnson at a gun show for $40. What I'm sure of is it's a Safety Automatic Hammerless Model 2 in .38 S&W. The bore looks good, and all mechanical action is tight. However, I fucked up the lock spring when disassembling. I can't find a replacement anywhere. Anyone know a source?

Buddy of mine is doing his first rifle, and it seems he's bought into the piston AR meme.

I've already tried explaining why DI is a better/more practical way to go, but no luck.

Any blatantly damning info sources I could show him? I fear an Adams Arms piston kit in his future, help me before it's too late.

let your friend do his thing and give him help to make sure the thing he wants to do is done correctly.

if you've said your piece about why he shouldn't then leave it at that, no need to kick a dead horse.

if it's a mistake, it'll fuck up and he'll learn his lesson.

sometimes people can't be talked out of their stupid decisions.
>>
>>32180254
instead of trying to change his mind out of getting a piston AR.
get him to build one with a proper upper, like 416 or POF p416. those works like a charm no probs. avoid the cheaper kits like the plague
>>
>>32180254
Let him buy whatever he wants, honestly why do you care so much if he's so adamant about dropping a piston kit?

I own both DI and Piston ARs and honestly my both of my go to rifles are a piston and an DI.

You think that people who didn't want to go through the legal hassle of a NFA stamp for a SBR, and thus not own one, are prone to committing murder?

You think that someone who's willing to commit murder gives a shit about a NFA stamp?

I'm probably gonna go get myself an old ppk in 32 acp.
but im not that well versed in the old pocket pistols, are there any good and sexy alternatives? Dont give a shit about self defence in this thread, only looks and quality allowed.

I've been looking into buying a legit PPK as well for concealed carry.
>>
For the aesthetic, Bersa .380 is well received by most. P232 if you don't care about price.
>>
>>32179717
If you merely want a shooter, a PP will likely be a more pleasant shooter, be cheaper and have just as much history, if not more. It just lacks that hitler/james bond meme magic.
Also good on you for choosing .32.
I really don't see why people choose .380.
it wasn't particularly popular with the germans and james bond used a .32.
There's a reason for this, .380 PPKs are genuinely uncomfortable to shoot for a lot of people.
If you want a .380, buy a PP

Just purchased my first gun, a Glock 19.

I see there are a few backstraps that came with it and while obviously it's preference for size, do you guys recommend the beavertail one at all?

I have only shot it with no backstrap.

The glock backstraps suck. They just suck. The M&P is really what the 4th gen Glocks should have been.

I notice that when you google the title of a movie with the word gun after it that there is a website that always comes up that identifies all the guns used in that movie with an analysis of their use. Here is a random sampling of what I am curious about:

Get Shorty - referring to a AMT Backup as a "Wop 9 ... the Fiat of guns, always jammin' on you at the wrong time,"
http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Get_Shorty

The Raid 2 - uses a Glock 18 in full auto
http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Raid_2,_The

Casino Royale - Bond using a Walther P99
http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Casino_Royale_(2006)

What are good gun scenes in movies worth noting?
