Yeah, if you're gonna go fash, then go all the way.
Please help me you HK lovers
I know you guys probably know more than I do about the usp trials. I can find these new for around 600$ And I'm really hoping I can stay away from a budget pistol from Glock.
Do you guys think there's a better HK carry? Or am I off in the wrong direction... There's got to be better pistols than Glock. MAN do I hate that they work so GOOD.
>Tldr; Why is the USP worth it?
It's probably not. Both H&K & Glock have established themselves as really reliable firearm brands.
>A Glock is gonna run good, and will cost less than a USP
>A USP will run just as good as a Glock, but you get the snobby privilege of saying you own an H&K.
No matter which you buy, people are going to give you shit here. My suggestion would be to find a way to shoot each gun and see which one ergonomically feels better. If you dont have a means of shooting either one, go to a gun shop and finger fuck each one.
If you're deadset on buying a USP check pawnshops and armslist. Don't buy used from a pawnshop unless you know a lot about pistols. Disassemble the pistol on the counter and look for rust and pitting. Pawnshop owners will lie to you. It's up to you to know what to look for.

Plastic that run good
metal that run good
Austrians or Germans
literally cant go wrong either way
>>32251020
So why do people even buy h&k's then if other guns run just as well?
For masturbational purposes?
What are good calibers to pick from if I want a lever action?
>>32250775
30-30, .357, or .44 mag are probably your best bets as far as availability is concerned.
That being said, I think the .35 Remington is seriously underrated.
>>32250775
They all work fine. Larger caliber = less bullets, basically.
30-30, .357/.38 & 45-70
Are submarines still valuable now that there are so many different ways to detect them?
>>32250490
Yes, considering the Russian and Chinese don't even have the ability to actually search for them and even then they use older outdated equipment. Here's a fun fact: A Virginia class submarine one the move just above the layer is acoustically quieter than a Los Angeles class tied up a dock. Some guy who did 20 years in the Sub fleet told me that.
>>32250526
Probably because the LAs are getting old as shit
I think that detecting a submarine is hard not because the difficulties of detecting it. But because the submarine can easily already detect their hunters from way beyond their radar range.
Forgive me for not suspending my disbelief, but I never understood how people still drive and use guns in The Walking Dead. Wouldn't there be severe gasoline and ammo shortages after SHTF? Does anyone know of any historical events that could be compared?
>>32250131
Gasoline probably would've gone bad by then, especially since there's a ton of ethanol in American gas. But for some reason, everyone is dead and there are guns and ammo lying around everywhere in TWD.
>>32250131
because TWD is poorly written trash
>>32250131
I think in the show world, only about a year has passed. most all the cars are still functional, gas is just a matter of getting it. Saw a artical once that figured that the total population left in the world is like 200k.
Do you carry your piece into the mall or supermarket despite the sign at the door telling you it isn't allowed? If someone starts shooting the place up and you draw on them you're going to be in just as much trouble you know.
>>32249068
That's a rule, it's different than a law.
>>32249089
Varies by state, in some states signs carry the force of law.

You have to go in to get the background check done

Hasn't been the case for me, I'm in IL. You can do it in person or send them a picture of your FOID and they can do it with that.
Right now, I wish I did it in person to find out what the fuck is going on. I called him and left a message and he still hasn't gotten back to me.

wat
>>32247924
Guns are a relatively expensive hobby, considering how many people engage in shooting sports.
It's not frisbee golf, par example, where you could spend $500 and have everything you'd need forever.
Motorcycling is similar.

Bumping this thread as the last one is on it's death throes.
Subject tells all.
1. I'm an officer (2LT) in the US Army.
2. I'm branched Signal (25A) and I am currently attached to the S3 section of my BN as a network officer.
If you have questions about anything in regards to:
1. How do I become an officer?
2. The OCS experience (I was a college option contract, not ROTC)
3. What does being an officer entail?
4. If I want to become an officer, how do I not get lost during land nav?
5. WWII Reenacting (muh hobby)
Ask away. Don't forget, I'm here forever.

So at first, the Syrian soldiers were complete jackasses. You can tell by early footage and the results. The rebels were winning. Now, the Syrian military is beating the rebels and they're taking back Aleppo. Did the Syrian military tactics and training get better, or did they just piggy back on Russian bombings? Or is it a combination of both?
>>32244713
>Did the Syrian military tactics and training get better
They got WHOLE lot better during the years.I remember, back when the war began, that they were sending tanks, and only tanks, to patrol and counter the insurgents inside cities. Then, after much trial and error, they found out that sending infantry with tanks as support was much better than sending them alone
>>32244777
>mfw them trying to get rid of assad and destabilize Syria only ends up making Syria stronger and every other ME country weaker
>>32244777
I have seen videos of Syrian troops bunching up in the open and then getting blown up by a well placed ATGM. Idk if those videos are old, but I hope they are. Bunching up is such an amateur mistake.
Zumwalt unit cost: 7.5 billion USD
Nimitz unit cost: 8.8 billion USD
So for just another billion, we could have had a full blown CATOBAR nuclear aircraft carrier but instead we get a hackjob destroyer that only uses conventional power.
This is just pure money wasting at this stage.

I have a friend in a south american country who has disposable income but a difficult time acquiring ammunition. He can get as much 12 gauge as he wants though, and he wants me to help design a functional 12 gauge gatling for him. If I can get the designs, he can have the parts machined and assembled. He posts shit on instagram like a .38 super 1911 plated in gold with niggerific mexican grim reaper saint grips so whatever he's doing down there, he can afford this.
(these were actually things in the 20s/30s, they were just scaled up .45-70 designs which is also a rimmed cartridge, and were used in wild west movies with 12 ga blanks- the NFA put a stop to it. Some hobbyists on various boards have built them but they're mostly crusty old fucks with 386 computers who don't post a lot of pictures http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/gunsmithing/12-gauge-gatling-183338/ )
What I need help with is digging up one of the blueprints to a gatling that took cloth belts. Cloth belts are ideal for 12ga because there's no need to modify links. The one guy who made a belt fed 12ga for his post-sample M16 lower and posted it on youtube, used cloth links.
Second, there's no reason why a design can't be semi-automatic gas operated blow back like a Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-6-30. You could have it operate the entire cylinder assembly, which holds the bolts, like a semi-automatic revolver.
Finally, if a 12ga doesn't have enough pressure, it could be made compatible with this wildcat round, 12GA FH
https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197214
>>32238679
Finally I think the best barrel profile would be a triangular config, this would allow for a narrower diameter bolt carrier assembly.
I killed a thread for this, you can at least contribute to the birth of the most amazing dakka cannon ever
he already has a superduty that he's going to put Mark 1 Plumbing decals on and mount this beast to with a pintle mount, and he paid some corrupt ass Mexican Marines $120 for a Surefire Hellfighter to use on it
>>32238679
12GA FH in gatling form is something I'd like to see
What do you think?

Welcome to the mind of George Lucas. It's not actual violence because they are not humans.
It's the Mario jumps on turtles philosophy.
Is it ethical to create an entire army out of children artificially accelerated through childhood for the sole purpose to die as pawns for the benefit of worthless citizens who are either too lazy or too cowardly to fight their own wars?
The Jedi deserved order 66.
Are any armies ethical?
