Where does the border of "classy refinish" end and 'bubba" starts?

For example, is pic related bubba or not?
15 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
That's a nice piece of folk/trench art that is well executed.

bubba involves hacksaws and krylon

/thread
>>
definition 1:
>unless you restore it to the point where its near impossible to tell the new finish from an original finish its a bubba job

definition 2:
>any refinishing is bubba, even if you're trying to unfuck something it doesnt matter. youre not the armorer who built that gun so you have no business doing anything to it

my take on it:
>its your gun, do what you want but try for definition 1
>>
>>32230481
Refinishing the wood is fine, making a new stock in the shape of the original is fine, bubbaing a rifle is when you start making it into something it isn't and can't ever be through shittily made addons, ie TACTICAL STOCKS AND PISTOL GRIPS on mosins, adding rails to milsurp, I wouldn't consider pic related a bubbad rifle.

Why are these blue?

Hornady uses blue exclusively for the 5.7 instead of the red they use on all other ballistic tips. Don't really know why.

some boxes of .221 fireball, oddball boxes of other old vintage cartridges, a handful of nazi 9mm from 1942, a thousand or so rounds of .30-06 AP rounds, all in enblocs, 2 unopened 600rd .30 carbine spam cans, 2 flaming bomb ammo cans, a couple dozen vintage .30 carbine blanks, a bunch of vintage .30 boxes, a handful of .30 carbine bandoliers full of .30 carbine in stripper clips from the 60s, a ton of .45, and a really corroded .50 round

all for $250

pretty good right?

Yes, just like your other thread. If you managed to get it all for $250 you did good.

but mostly I'm wondering what I should do with it

what is the likelihood that these will not fire?

if they're fucked, would they just be a literal ton of duds or a literal ton of squibs? I don't really wanna test these out and end up with a kb'd garand or carbine because those are expensive now

the cans they were in were pretty shitty bit a lot of these rounds are really clean and still have those cardboard wraps for the enblocs and they're still in great shape

these, however, seem unsafe

It's 1997 in California. You drill a hole into your Norinco Type 56 and equip it with a full auto bolt group. How many years of prison are you exposing yourself to? It's a very precise question, but I would be very glad if someone could answer me, it's for a school assignment about the North Hollywood shootout.

Up to:
>10 years in fed
>$10,000 in fines

Plus state level charges which carry their own penalties

But as with anything else, it's really more dependent on the D.A., Judge, your lawyer and how much money you have.

I don't know about 1997, or Cali laws, but federally.

Violations of the Act are punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison and forfeiture of all devices or firearms in violation, and the individual's right to own or possess firearms in the future. The Act provides for a penalty of $10,000 for certain violations.[6] A willful attempt to evade or defeat a tax imposed by the Act is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $100,000 fine ($500,000 in the case of a corporation or trust), under the general tax evasion statute.[7] For an individual, the felony fine of $100,000 for tax evasion could be increased to $250,000.

Lastly, Anyone will be able to tell you a AR's Trigger is more refined, yet feels more clunky.
An AK Trigger is straightforward and never failing.

I think combining the worlds two deadliest funs is a very dank idea. I'm hoping to add a horseshoe clip to the ARK-16 as I believe it's weight would hinder le recoil

What is the consensus on EOtech? I know they're fucked up with nitrogen leaking and zero loss at more pronounced temperatures, but are they fixing that? Are they going to come up with a better product?

I really love their field of view and their recticle, as well as the fact they take batteries you can find at any gas station, but obviously I'm not going to touch them with all the bullshit that went down. I'm just hoping someone knows something more than I do about their current and future situation.

If you're not operating operationally in super hot or super cold weather, it'll still be more than enough optic for you.

You aren't delta/st6/spook, you'll never put an optic through the abuse they do. It's more than capable of handling 5 mags a month shooting in a stall at a controlled range. You're good.
>>
>>32229853
Used Eotechs and other red dots both in the military and privately.

The Eotech is a meme red dot. Really the only "objectively" better thing it has going for it is the large FOV. However that only matters if you are putting something behind the optic like a magnifier or night vision monocle. In standard red dot use, FOV is a total nonfactor since you will have both eyes open anyway.

The only other selling point of the Eotechs are their "red ring of death reticle", but it's total mallninja bullshit. You don't need a ring around your dot to put the dot on a target. Some people claim that at super close range it helps them, but I think that's bullshit. Having been shot at from close range, I can say that you will not be caring about the circle around your dot. All the ring and the extra "drop dots" do is clutter a reticle. A clean and simple red dot is what a CCO needs.

Otherwise, you can get competing red dots that take AA batteries. Though honestly, the more common 123 batteries aren't as snowflake as you think, they are sold at pretty much any WalMart, you just never noticed before.
>>
>>32230114
If you are getting an optic for range use to never put through abuse, no reason to drop EoTech level money. Plenty of more budget minded dots out there that work for that. Why get an Eotech as a range toy when I can get a Vortex or PA for 1/4 the cost?

If you ARE buying for deployment/"Muh SHTF", Eotechs are inferior in the ways that matter.

Army infantryman here,

As far as most pog jobs go, such as admin stuff, they are fine and do the job well. Even for non-physical technical jobs like a pilot or whatever, I think they're fine. However as far as combat arms goes, they're a meme. I don't know really any women that could do my job and not fall out. Yes, I know there are a few exceptions, but they are few and far between.

As long as you don't let water vapor freeze in your gun like a fucking retard, pretty much any gun should be g2g in a cold environment

So I have never hunted in my life before let me just get that out of the way. I want to go hog hunting. In Florida you can hunt wild hogs with no magazine restriction, minimum caliber, hunting license etc as long as its on private land and you have the landowners permission. I was wondering how to find such private property with said landowners that do not give a fudge about me tramping around their property killing wild hogs.

Get ready to knock on doors of people who hate people that knock on doors. Also, get a property map from your county courthouse so you can find out who owns what. Then get ready for rejection because farmers have no clue who you are and you aren't offering them money to hunt their fields.

Internets. I know of two such farmers and one of them will pay for 1 box of 5.56 if you answer his call . There are oftentimes rules though as far as the land owner is concerned and by all means if you break them and they ask you to leave then you are trespassing. Try checking around Okeechobee and Ocala

How big is the box? All jokes aside I need to look into that.
