Hello everyone, I am looking to get a firearm for myself. I have some experience shooting with my family when i was a kid, where we shot usually my uncle's AR-15, M1, .38 revolver and Sig (don't know model numbers).

I have about 2k to drop, and was looking into getting a shotgun for clays and/or a good pistol for action shoots at the range. Ammo price is not a problem barring something stupid. Pic unrelated.

Of course i know how to operate a gun!

Okay /k/ommandos, what are your thoughts on this? Would any US /k/ommandos use this on their SKS? Link to TFB post. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/12/02/3d-printed-sks-chassis-pearce-armoury/

>requires permanent modifications to SKS
>$500 for SKS and then $800 for the kit
>AR15s and AKs exist
No. I do not see this becoming popular here.
>>
my sks is qay enough as it is.

but does it also make the barrel 5.56?
>>
I would not, because the cost of a cheap kit AR is less than the cost of the stock alone.

If you figure in the cost of an SKS + the stock, even more options open up.

I have an SKS for what it was designed to be and because when I got it it was cheap, semi, and kinda somewhat historical rifle.

In some ban areas or communist US states this may have a market. Maybe, if it isn't banned.

I like the look of red tiger and other various gun skins. I want to impress people at the range so I was thinking a gun skin would be something that could work.

Is it a good idea and what skin do you all have?

This Turkish M98/37 Mauser I got with bayonet for $100. It shot like shit (partly because the stock was poorly fitted to the action) and while horsing around with it playing Prussian I banged the butt on the concrete so hard I cracked the stock through the wrist. That was two years ago, and it's been in parts ever since. A couple months ago I finally got around to trying my hand at repairs, but that's in limbo now because I can't find my supply of Acraglass.

A base model chevy cruze is cheap, simple, and effective. Is that what you want?
Analogy being this: it works, but youll probably hate it.
If you want one of their special snowflake color combinations, go for it. If not, know the trigger sucks and its a chore to shoot

3 years ago it was as simple as Saiga.

Nowadays the AK market is littered with bullshit.

/k/ has, with every current manufacturer claimed that they are both shit and the best.

Without going so low as Wasr, what is my most cost effective option to obtain a 7.62x39 mil-spec AK?

>>
>>32259802
Mil-spec doesn't exist in the civilian AK market. Cost effective also doesn't exist anymore. The least expensive that I would consider buying now are the Arsenal SLR series or converted Molot VEPRs.

As a military advisor, you have been assigned to improve the military of a small developing nation. This nation has a medium coastline and has the terrain and climate of Botswana. The key goal you are trying to achieve is efficiency and cost effectiveness. How would you go about achieving these goals?

Buy cheap AK's and life jackets.

Maybe even a wedding dress or two.
>>
>>32259692
Probably training and alot of second hand equipment. Since air is out of the question due to funds, getting some AA would be a good priority.
>>
>>32259692

Patrol boats for coast lines, maybe a cutter or two just in case. Probably just copy the USCG as closely as I could with a what would presumably a pittance for the budget.

I'd also ally with the west to get some of those sweet, sweet training dollars and personnel, and institute a merit based promotion system and military college.

According to usinflationcalculator.com 100million dollars in 1940 is worth 1.7billion dollars today.

That means you could get 5 or 6 battleships, which would have a combined disadvantage against a single carrier.

How many of you guys have had experience with the Bersa thunder 9mm? Is it a good full sized pistol? Reliable, accurate, etc? I know there aren't that many accessories for it, but I don't mind.

I absolutely love mine, my only complaint is the slide release on mine was stiff as fuck from the factory and required a couple evenings of racking to get smooth. Small price to pay for a nearly full ambi gun though. If it had a dual sided mag release instead of switchable it would be up there with HKs for perfect guns. Eats fucking everything, full metal frame, excellent controls. They are really underrated guns.
>>
>>32259343
I was thinking the same thing. I've seen all kinds of affordable guns being completed shit. But this one is something else. The quality is good and the only malfunctions I've ever had were because of really shitty ammo, and even then they were super rare.

No experience with their 9mm but a m8 I knew in University had a Bersa 45, CC I think, can't really recall other than it was a .45 Not bad. I remember being kinda pleasantly surprised at what it was for the price it was, not horrific quality. Not something ideally I'd go on deployments/missions with but if tough on cash and wanted something for around the house or something than I wouldn't not go for it.

I've read Revolt of the Majors and its decidedly unflattering portrayal of Boyd. However, there doesn't seem to be much criticism or discussion of the thesis. I know that Boyd was a relentless self-promoter, but I'm curious if perhaps Michel is not giving him enough credit.

Boyd is an interesting case. He was the quintessential "Technical Prima Donna" to use Scott Adam's humorous designation.

He was one of the crudest, most abrasive, aggressive, insubordinate bastards to ever join the United States Air Force.

But everything he said was absolutely right, and that's why everyone hated him the most.

If he called you a fucking limp-dicked faggot shit-eater (which is probably something he would actually say) it was guaranteed he had a 30 page memorandum backing up proving exactly why you were a useless shithead. And you have no rebuttal, so the only thing you can be mad at is him hurting your fee-fees.

Boyd revolutionized the Air Force for the better. There is no way that can be denied or revised.

My final opinion on him is that imagine how much he could have accomplished on top of that if he didn't set generals' ties on fire or call them fucking morons in the middle of Pentagon hallways.
