AK General /akg/
Modern vs Combloc Optics Edition

Used an adjustable wrench as ghetto calipers because I don't own real calipers
The one on the right is thicker in the middle which means it's not possible that it's a fake made from a regular AKSU booster that was turned down on a lathe to be smooth
It's also more rounded at the front shoulder.
I don't have a scale either but I'm assuming the one on the right is heavier as well by virtue of being thicker in the middle.
The paint and machining is perfectly in line with what I'd expect from a genuine part.
The guy who sold it to me wouldn't give me any details of how he got it aside from telling me it's a prototype AKSU booster. I believe him
In with /best stock/

The steel on the cone is thinner on the prototype
Jungle boots edition
Post your recent finds
Found these last night for 57$, pretty good because of the condition the boots are in and it has the earlier sole pattern before the panama sole
What's also interesting is one boot is Genesco made and the other RO search, both are the same size though so it really is no big deal.

What are the benefits of Coast Guards exactly?
I know full well that maritime law enforcement, S&R and traffic policing are huge. Perhaps more important to our everyday lives than any sexy massive CSG. But here's the thing.
My country, France, does not have a Coast Guard and never has. CG-style ops are divided between the Navy, Customs, the Gendarmerie maritime and a State sponsored private S&R company with Navy crew (you heard that right). The Gendarmerie maritime is part of the Gendarmerie nationale (think of a cross between MPs, Russian MVD troops and American State troopers, except with civilian law enforcement capacity) but attached to the Navy for pratical purposes. They only have less-than-100t (mostly 50t) patrol boats and are mostly used as backup for the Navy in CG ops. Usualy navy ships on CG-duty take just a single Gendarmerie officer onboard so that the VBSS and any and all perquisitions/interrogations/arrestations that may result stay lawful. They also do MP roles for the Navy (just like the good old Gendarmerie does for the Army and Air Force).
There have been decades-long talks of creating a unified US-style CG like every other country in the world has, but there's nothing a CG could do that the Navy can't at the present.
So /k/, please explain Coast Guards to me
Your picture makes me wonder to myself: What ever became of the Escort Carrier concept? Those were cool. Kinda like how seaplane tenders were cool.
I'm sorry, this has nothing to do with your question. Good luck.

We don't have a cost card as such but still have opv's and little Scimitar patrol vessels for stopping Frenchie's illegal crossing the channel.
Life saving is done by the RNLI
>>32343137
Escoret carriers were for two things:
>give rapid-response against bombers (who had to get close to do their job)
>give rapid-response ASW capability
Now we have:
>embarked ASW helos
>better air defences on surface units, most major surface ships are focused on air defence
>faster longer-ranged missiles and planes
Also the Mistral in the top right of the pic is just a LHD, its deck is made for the attack helos attached to the embarked ground troops.
I'm flying to Paris to join the French Foreign Legion in January or February.
I'm prior service Army (US), 29 years old. I'm in shape. I don't know French.
What can I expect?
>>32342000
To learn French.
Fast.
you're going to live on an island for 5 years and only leave for deployment and exercise, you'll actually get hit in basic training and if you don't learn french quickly you get beat more. Download Duolingo on your phone and practice French every fucking day so you will at least learn some basics. Also watch some French shit on youtube and listen to some French music. Keep working out and have fun on 5 month deployments in shitty African countries.
>>32342000
expect to get beaten, hazed, bullied all that shit.
also youre used as cannon fodder and the actual french army sits back and pussies out.
Are these a meme? I was thinking maybe I would use one of these for my first CCW gun but I ended up getting a M&P Shield 9mm (With the safety but it's Always Off)
I carry my gun in a Crossbreed Mini holster at about 4:30 and it's perfectly comfortable for me even though i'm a skinnyfat 150lb 5'9" fag who wears skinnyjeans, I can even fit it in any of my pockets and it conceals fine. I can even put it in my sweatpants pocket but I have to keep pulling them up cuz of the weight of the gun, you can see a gun outline but I don't have a pocket holster and I really don't care anyways
It's easy to conceal even under a T-shirt but i'm not super concerned with printing, my shirt comes up when I sit down or get up from a resturant booth and stuff and maybe someone sees i'm carrying but only for a sec before I pull my shirt back down. Although I can't carry at my job because i'm not allowed to
So what's the point of pocket guns besides to conceal in a place where you ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT BE SEEN ARMED? I don't think they would be much more comfortable to carry to justify the drawbacks of a smaller calibur and sight radius.
They look fine for a backup gun or a gril maybe, but why would you carry one as your main firearm? I don't doubt that .380 can get the job done or anything I just don't see a reason to use it

You can just quickly throw it in a jacket pocket.
You can go jogging or do other physical outdoors activities with it.
