I know it's pre-built pleb tier but I don't understand enough yet to build my own from parts. I need to hurry and get something affordable and reliable for the impending chimpout 2018
Don't buy from spic and west end.
>>34926873
there is literally a general for this
S&W or Ruger are the basic bitch ARs of choice
that pricing is Jew-tier though. literally $200 over what it should be
The Sport 2 is just fine for a budget first AR. Ruger is popular to as well as the PSA stuff. Sport 2s are on gun deals a lot recently around $450.
Sage because this doesn't need its own thread, ask in the AR thread or just google a bit man this is an insanely common question!
Friendly reminder that warning shots, racking the slide to intimidate, verbal negotiations, or anything less than shooting to end the threat will get your ass killed.
>A South Carolina man was reportedly fatally shot after he fired warning shots to stop two thieves from stealing his car.
>Brandon Meyers, 20, and Bobby Cason, 17, both from North Charleston, South Carolina, have been charged with murder and attempted grand larceny.
>The two suspects were in the process of stealing the victim's car, when he spotted them and came outside with his gun, according to WCSC. He allegedly fired two warning shots in the air to stop the thieves. Police say the suspects had the keys to the car from a previous break-in.
>After firing warning shots, the victim was allegedly shot by one of the suspects. Meyers and Cason then reportedly fled the scene.

Bummer

Thanks anon, already knew but its good to be reminded why from time to time.
Well... yeah.
Probably assumed they were unarmed, watched too many movies, thought he could go full grandpa "get off my lawn mode" and that would scare them off.
Problem is, you never know how people will react. Most of the time they go into flight, but it could be fight response instead. Verbal commands are one thing, but when you take incoming fire, it changes everything.
Stopped shooting for a while; groups suffered a but what I really notice is the spread isn't linear to distance.
>>34926499
Their all 10 shot groups btw.
I guess what I am asking is why isn't it linear?
Probably because it has more to do with focal planes than anything else?
How do I counter not being able to focus better or is that the issue?
Should I train with different targets?
Not interested too much in tactical stuff; just want nice groups.

Is it worth buying a Polymer80 80% Glock 19?
Ive never built a handgun but want something to carry. The 80% is $149 but how much more it cost to buy the rest of the parts?
It's only worth it if you live somewhere that makes it difficult to get a serialized handgun, or if you really want to build a glock from the frame out.
>>34926435
What part of it would have to be transferred through an FFL?
>>34926504
They are basically selling you a piece of polymer, not a gun,you have to do the milling yourself, I dont know shit about guns so...

FTFY. Importation, gun control regulations and conversion costs (thanks to the import bans and ATF regulation influence) are responsible for why you can't own nice things at a decent price
got this stainless 92fs, two 15 rounders and one 10 rounder, 6 boxes of ammo, pearl grips and a loader. traded the dude my generator and some extension cables and gas cans (was asking $500). this makes number 15 in the collection,
what has /k/ copped lately?
>>34926410
Dann good deal.
>>34926441
thanks, dude was out of a job and needed a generator for the winter. was looking for cash only but couldnt turn down an offer like this.

Good shit anon, you got the better looking one.
Hey, upstate New Yorker here. Anyone know of a good sub-700 dollar semi-auto rifle that I could own?
>>34926409
I think you could build a NY legal AR. You can probably find a good used Mini 14 for that price, and you definitely can if you are willing to pay a little bit more.
SKS or Garand
You can make a compliant AR with a grip called the "receiver spur" instead of the Cali crutch stock and just bolt on a normal pistol grip when you are "out of state"
SKS
I haven't seen many knife threads lately
>we're gonna need a bigger bin
I have a Ruger P91DC from around 1993, which my father gave me a few years ago when I turned 21.
I love the gun. Feels nice and solid, really good bedside piece. I wouldn't trust the old thing at too much further than 30-40 yards, but it helps me sleep well at night. Eats just about any ammo I have thrown at it with jams being pretty rare.
I also love the aesthetic design. Just the overall look of the thing, maybe some bias from being my first handgun.
That said, the thing is heavy as sin and a bulky, full-size pistol. I like that when it just stays by my bed, but I wouldn't want to carry this thing at all.
So, I'm looking for something a bit more modern and new that would be suitable for a carry.
Average height
TL;DR: Post some handguns that this pic makes you think of/you think it resembles.

Found this story(two parts in two separate images) tonight and thought they were really interesting. I decided to do a little follow up research and found an article posted a couple of weeks after these posts and wondered if anyone else that frequents this board knows anything further. The article and the story seem to contradict one another. Idk, I know what I've posted seems to all answer itself but I'm looking to see if anyone has any more information on any of this.

Nothing happened anon best to forget this story
I wouldn't worry about it.
Why does /k/ worship this man?
because he is a god among men
>>34926260
Why not
It's the first day of the 23 days on the 23rd Spring. You're his target. He's already eaten plenty of body parts and organs before you, and knows you're ready for a fight.
You must survive all 23 days.
What's your strategy?
"It eats lungs so it can breathe, and eyes so it can see. It all becomes a part of it. Whatever it eats, becomes a part of it."
Throw my autismo brother at it.
>>34926230
Get 46 days worth of food, hunker down in a well structured and closed area. Get a couple of guns and cleaning kits. Get plenty of ammo. Try and capture any of it's "weapons" before hand and bring some tools.
Bobby trap everything.
If I manage to disable it, I will cut it up and eat it while it watches. As you do to my fellow beings, I shall do to you.
>>34926272
Solid plan.
I'd also want to put some incendiary explosive device on myself if so he ever gets a hold of me the only peepers he's getting from me are burned to shit.
But that's taking failure into account when it's not an option.
Alright, so I'm a little confused. Sorry for not being fully educated on the subject, but I have to start somewhere.
I have a bunch of guns, but no AK. Always wanted one, but the thing is that I want the closest thing to a 'real' AK that I can get. I like NPAPs for what they are, but they are new production and ffs have "read safety manual blah blah" stamped on the side
I want an AK that lives up to it's legacy and is a true piece of history. Made in Russia during the Cold War, but still a good shooter. Where can I find this? And if not made in Russia at least in a former part of the USSR.
It's just confusing to me because they were so heavily mass produced, why are they not so easy to find?
>>34926219
Vepr's and Saiga's are made in Russia, but the ones you can find stateside are neither cold war pieces nor are they "true" AK's, being somewhat sporterized.
The guns you can buy such as Arsenal's, etc that are closer to a "real" cold war AK are neither of the appropriate vintage nore are they Russian.
And thanks to 922r, even your most autistic parts kit build using a Nodak Spud receiver and the remnants of a de-milled authentic cold war ruskie rifle will STILL have a US-made receiver and likely a barrel/FCG to stay compliant as well.
So you're pretty much stuck choosing which of those three appeal to you the most. I went with Veprs due to the 100% Russian provenance and the fact that they are great shooters that are also built like tanks, even if they are more sporterized RPK's than straight AK's. Your mileage may vary.
>>34926299
so why do all veprs have such gay thumbhole stocks???
AK-47s like in your picture weren't actually produced in that great of numbers. When people think "AK", they're usually thinking of the modernized AKM. The primary improvement the AKM had over later AK-47 variants was the use of a stamped receiver, making them much cheaper and easier to mass produce, hence their proliferation. Very early AK-47's had a stamped receiver, however the manufacturing process wasn't quite figured out yet, so the milled design was used as an interim solution, until stamping was perfected.
Getting Russian AKs in the US has historically been spotty because of politics. Due to recent restrictions, Russian AKs are once again hard to get (short of paying out the ass).
The closest thing to a Russian AK-47 you can readily get is probably a Bulgarian SAM-7. They're basically just a modernized AK-47 featuring a few AK-74 parts (90° gas block, thin style bolt stem, etc). They're pretty close overall though, seeing as they have a forged receiver, double hooked trigger, and double tanged stock. They've seen use in a bunch of conflicts, and Bulgaria was formerly Warsaw pact. So Bulgarian AKs are usually regarded as the 2nd choice for collectors, next to Russian AKs. Owning both, the Bulgarian AKs usually have a slightly better fit and finish than their Russian counterparts, though they're practically the same thing.
