How do get into marksmanship?
I have access to a very cheap ($35 a year) range that goes up to 300 yards and want to take advantage of it.
What's a cheapish gun to get started with marksmanship?
What are some reference materials to get looking at?
Any tips for a beginner?

I have a mosin, a lever Henry, and 2 scatter guns. The mosin feels like the only thing suitable for it but it's getting expensive to feed for a poor college student.

A .22lr bolt action from Savage or other mfg known for making cheapish, accurate guns. An optic can be had relatively inexpensively. Buy good ammo like CCI standard velocity and practice at 100 yards or more.

The fundamentals are the same as a larger caliber and you can learn the basics of wind and bullet drop at shorter distances.

It would be the cheapest way to go and shooting 22lr past 100 yards accurately is definitely more challenging than a Centerfire.

Guys, i need help. My grandfather is opening a shooting range in kansas, and i am looking to become a gunsmith. I want to do it online because the closest gunsmithing school is in colorado (i live in far eastern kansas). What is the best online school? Any other tips would be appreciated.

just lurk on /k/, we do all the best gunsmithing here

somebody post the shovel ak
>>
>>32335826
i would say go to the school. it would be hard to learn mill work and pressing barrels in online without instruction unless you just want to put scope rings on like your pic.
>>
>>32335826
Honestly dude, go to a nearby school for machining. Become a machinist. I haven't been in the business in a while; my goals are currently heading in a different direction but what I learned as a machinist was so valuable to working on guns. I have seen where gunsmithing is kind of a joke when what's needed of a person is manufacturing and fabrication. If you understand guns and fabrication, you're set.

Not really, but that's the only topic that you fags care about outside of what some youtuber had for breakfast.

Anyway, this seemed liked a neat novelty gun.

I really enjoy my Sig. Put close to 2500 rounds through it no issues. It's also my carry piece. I would like to replace the grips with something slim and A E S T H E T I C but I'm pretty bad at imagining what something will look like. Grip reccomendation?

>Beards are operator
I thought they originally started shaving beards for the sake of combat in the first place?

Generally young service members cant grow beards and they just look like ungroomed teenagers with peach fuzz and chin pubes. Operators can grow beards because usually they became an operator after being in the service for 4-8 years or sometimes more.
>>
And young service members are usually fucking idiots because of flawed training and doctrine. So they need to have their hand held. Ive had to punish a Marine for not showering weeks at a time.
>>
In the modern military? Beards stopped being a thing when gas and chemical warfare came around, can't get a seal on your mask when you have a beard, so beards had to leave.

The video in the OP is irrelevant because hand-to-hand combat doesn't happen, if you are that close, you fucked up every. damn. thing. there is to fuck up.

Operators get to operate operationally because in the middle east their beard helps them "blend in" , or unofficially, they get to do what ever the fuck they please because operators and there's nobody around to bitch at them / gives a fuck about the grooming standard.

That is all.

So I was playing some Battlefield 1 (shit game by the way, do not recommend) and I noticed that the British tank tracks have these spade/shovel like pieces on the tracks at regular intervals.

I've tried googling and I haven't found anything. Anyone know what they are called and what they do? They don't seem to be in all tanks and clearly in modern tanks you don't see these at all. I've only found some photos of old british landship like tanks with these attachments on the tracks.

Are they to make traversing trenches easier? Are they supposed to offer better traction or more gripping surface? Are they just useless?

So why are grousers not used anymore in tanks? Or are they and I've never seen it?

I don't like it very much, I prefer 4. The standard issue rifles only game mode is fun though.

Would a (short) rapier be a reasonable self-defense weapon in a country without firearms? It was specifically meant for unarmored civilian combat, which would seem like exactly what a random self-defence scenario would be.

Why isn't there a really light small and mobile vehicle with high firepower.
Like a quad with an RPG or something like that.
I'm sure the chinese would be really interested in something like that, so they can zergrush their neighboring countries, if they wanted.

because a MG team will walk some tracers onto it and kill the crew instantly. maybe for very situational cases it makes sense but as a general tactic it's fucking dumb

You don't need a lot of armor to be MG proof.
And if you are going fast from cover to cover, while one thousand of your colleagues do the same, it will be very effective.
Imagine there is a fortification and these fuckers come onto you from all directions, fast, zigzagging and shooting rockets.

I would like to install a diopter or peep sights on a CZ 455, but it does not have any front sight.

Where can I find a front sight that goes on the barrel without any modification of it (drilling etc)?

Just get a surplus barrel band front sight. A Springfield 1903 one might work fine but i dont have the diameter of a cz barrel. Alternatively a vz58 one might work also and be higher (and fittingly czech)
