So my Dad gifted my first gun this Christmas, a CZ P-09. I fucking it love, trigger is supple, handles recoil like a dream, capacity is insane, I could go on forever. I've been keeping it loaded and chambered on my nightstand, but it's filled with reloads sold by my Dad's range. I've no doubt that they would do the job if needed, but I know there is dedicated self-defense ammo. I've read some articles that provided some lists, but I'm interested in what /k/ has to say.

Pic related: my first(!) handgun

TLDR: What's some good 9mm self defense ammo?

RIP
Its the only bullet youll ever need.
>>
I use standard pressure 147gr Federal HST as my defense ammo. I remember reading about the 147gr being one of the better loads out of short barreled subcompacts (what I carry) so I use it in my compact and full sized defensive guns to keep things simple.
>>
>>32495861
I like Hornady Critical Defense and Critical Duty. The way that the rounds are crimped helps to prevent bullet setback, which is something that I worry about with my carry and HD ammo. I like any of the +P loadings of the round.

You can't walk to Mars.

In order to get ~180 pounds of infantryman to Mars, you have to propel ~180 pounds of crap past earth's escape velocity.

This being the case, along with the fact that camoflage is essentially impossible, makes orbital bombardment the natural use of resources.

I bought pic related and need ideas of a good bolt assembly to put in it; I'm not sure if there is crap or if they're all the same quality. Much thanks and happy new years faggots

yes crappy bolts exist. you cant go wrong with colt or bcm. that said even the cheap ones are generally good enough. if you resort to buying the cheapest possible bolt you were never going to buy enough ammo to break it anyways

you want hpt and mpi marked

I want to get this right.

cons first

>ejecting hot empty metal cases also ejects a lot of thermal energy from the weapon. Not so with the caseless ammo where the chamber, the bolt face and the firing pin will take and absorb it all
>the chamber, the bolt face and the firing pin will take all of the direct hot mechanical erosion due to detonation unlike with common cartridge where the innards of the disposable case will take it.
>in the case of closed bolt weapon where the firing pin moves freely, the high-pressure detonation will push unburnt debris in the relatively tight clearance of the bolt and firing pin.

Pros

>nothing else ejects except bullet, naturally perfectly ambidexterous weapons designs, gas residues eject with the bullet and not in your face, even with suppressors
>1.5x lighter ammo (a traditional case is always much lighter than bullet)
>mindless firing rates
>various previously difficult magazine designs now much more feasible thanks to "symmetric" cylindrical ammo shape

You want

>propellant that turns into gas and makes no eroding unburnt particles at all
>propellant that can't cook off just because of heated chamber, it must only detonate under the (hot) mechanical high speed impact by the primer detonation.

Are we actually limited to open bolt weapons with caseless ammo?

What else?

Both of those requirements had already been met in the 80's with the G11 project.
>>
>>32495300
Did the G11 actually chamber the round before squeezing the trigger?

I think it was 1984, or maybe twilight zone idk. But in the not so distant future countries would collaborate some sort of tension between them for the sole purpose of population control under the guise of dying for your country.

It was 1984. Perpetual war for the sake of keeping people under control. We've always been at war with East Asia, remember?

I mean, it wasn't just the handguard. It was also the front lower half of the stock

/K/, what are some more modern alternatives to the aesthetic as fuck Russian gorka?

I think most of us here will agree they look bad ass and are pretty comfortable, although they're decidedly a bit on the 'low tech cheap' side of things.

sooo. It's a battle belt with an h-harness, and a wet weather shell. not bad, but I don't see the appeal?

Gorkas are just windsuits. They're made of pure cotton (brezent) and so are not water proof, nor are they particularly warm.

They're extremely comfortable though, and pretty durable. They're also cheap and great looking.

Certain parts of it are good, but there's plenty of 3rd-worlders who just join for the food, money, and passport and don't give a shit about proper soldiering.

The 2 REP(parachute regiment) is considered the most prestigious and strict. It's where most of the prior service guys from first world countries end up. They usually get the top combat assignments that come up for the Legion. The 3 REI in French Guiana is also held in high regard. They are generally considered some of the best jungle fighters in the world and operate one of the best jungle warfare schools. Unfortunately they are secluded in South America and don't really see legitimate combat too often. Their last combat deployment was in Haiti in 2004.
