Why does the Coast Guard make me so moist? I am in the process of applying for Army OCS and have board interviews coming up soon. I know this is a better career and ultimately will be more rewarding to me. But something about the Coast Guard's aesthetic gets me so moist. What is it about their look that is so appealing?

My dad was hit by a drunk driver last week, and he died. I was going through his stuff and found some old ass pistol. Mom said he was going to give it to me, but never got around to it, but that I could have it now.
So I was trying to clean it up and make it nicer, but I shattered the grips when I put it in a vice. Everything still seems to work, but I'm wondering if anyone knows what gun this is and where I can get some REALLY nice grips for it.

From there I cleaned it up and did a little modification on it. I shortened the barrel, because the skinny long barrel looked pretty dumb and would probably be bad for concealment.
I also polished the rails because my friend said that will make it cycle faster.
It's a work in progress right now, but I only had a grinder to work with. I'll keep polishing till it looks like a mirror.
My dad had a lot of other more modern guns, but my uncle took them. My mom is currently disputing with him to get them split between him and me. He had a few AR's, and I am really looking forward to having a modern weapon.
If anyone knows of any clear grips for this gun, that would be perfect. I kinda like seeing the clip through the handle.

Swedefag here to clarify. Hand grenades currently fall under the same law as dynamite and other fun stuff so you need a special explosives permit to be able to handle it. As far as I've understood this means you have to take a course and a then a test on explosives to get this permit.
