I posted an article last thread saying he got off on the charges. The pendulum is swinging the other way, I highly doubt there will be pushback against legal gun owners defending themselves.

If you can be part of any Special Operations Unit, what will you join?
Rangers, all i'd have to do is stand outside of a post office or embassy.Too important to be cannon fodder, too useless do to any actual special forces work.
Or a CIA spook, but they aren't really special forces.
First real "war book" I read was Hunting the Jackal, my parents thought it was about actual hunting, but it was about one of the biggest badasses ever to live, Billy Waugh.
Ever since then I've had a raging boner for the CIA and old school MACV-SOG stuff.

>It's been a long time coming, but you've finally got the money for your next purchase in the bank, as well as found exactly what you're looking on one of the multiple firearm auction sites.
>It's a stressful week of outbidding others looking to purchase the same rifle, but you mange to maintain the highest bid by the time the auction clock hits zero on Tuesday night.

Eastern Draft Edition
> What's this thread about?
As usual this thread is for the discussion and pics of tracked and wheeled AFVs of all kinds from MBTs to supertanks to self propelled AA guns. Please keep it civil and cite sources for statistics.
Following the consolidation of tooling and raw materials required for full scale production of Germany's mobile AA at Teplitz, a new design request was unveiled by Ostbau in March 1944. Based on the Panzer IV/Wirbelwind, it utilised the new 3.7 cm Flak 43 gun, accompanied by substantially more streamlined and simplified mechanisms compared to the Wirbelwind, with only one loader required. However, it was not until August that a contract for 100 "leichte Flakpanzer mit 3.7 cm Flak 43 auf Panzerkampfwagen IV", or Ostwind, was issued. Incidentally, Ostbau's prototype, made with mild steel of 10 mm plates, was deployed during the Ardennes Offensive, but surprisingly did not face any harm. The Ostwind boasted a number of improvements aside from its weaponry, including turret armour thickness increased to 25 mm, an even lower profile with more interior space, increased ammunition capacity (exceeding 1000 AA rounds), full radio equipment and even cribbing the Panther's sliding ring electrical contact. A further development of the Ostwind, known as the Ostwind II, carried two 3.7 cm Flakzwilling 44 guns in the same turret, offering entire orders of magnitude more firepower than the original, at the cost of requiring two loaders. Unfortunately, only two prototypes of the Ostwind II were ever built, in spite of their superlative firepower amongst German Flakpanzer designs. In totality, including rebuilt Flakpanzers, 43 Ostwinds were produced, with Wirbelwinds and Möbelwagens comprising the vast majority of Germany's mobile AA fleet.

OP: As always, feedback, suggestions wanted and appreciated.
The Ostwind never quite achieved the same level of saturation in German panzer formations as simpler vehicles like modified halftracks and Möbelwagens did. In part, this was due to the increasing material shortages of Germany from 1944 (although factory efficiency did, in fact, improve under Albert Speer's reforms in 1944, with net tank production increasing - that said, more Panzer IVs could not be devoted to specialist vehicles like the Ostwind, and in any case, the Panzer IV cancellations of mid-1945 would preclude AA production). Another factor, however, was the curtailed production cycle the Ostwind had, as the design work for the Kugelblitz was accelerated through 1945 - the obsolescence of the Ostwind had been determined from the time the Wirbelwind had first been designed, as German efforts were directed at readying the profoundly advanced and somewhat novel Kugelblitz design - but to no avail. Finalised only at the end of the war, the Kugelblitz, armed with two 3 cm Mk 103/38 guns and an entirely enclosed design, became little more than a footnote.

More tank news, as per the new format.
If you have more queries regarding a news story, just point it out, and I'll further elaborate and provide links.
Turkish, Malaysian and German armour manufacturers BMC, Rheinmetall and Etika Strategi respectively, have banded together in a joint venture RBSS to potentially produce a landmark 1000 vehicles for Qatar. Presently, however, the actual product lines in question are not being revealed.
Defence multinational BAE Systems has received a contract from Sweden to mount mortar systems on CV90s of the Swedish Army. The deal, worth some $68 million USD, will involve BAE's mortar system, Mjölner, being installed on 40 vehicles. In related news, Dutch CV90s are also set to receive Iron Fist APS integration.
Indonesia has received another 16 Leopard 2RI MBTs, part of a contract for 61 MBTs. Receipt of this latest batch brings the number of delivered vehicles to 40. Also, the Indonesian Marine Corps is currently reconsidering further acquisitions of the BTR-4, after initial training activities revealed some operational issues.
And that's all for now.
Wishing you all you treadheads a happy new year.
I'll see you all in 2017.
In the meantime, enjoy what's left of 2016.
why are s ducts so hard to make?
s-ducts are a meme just like stealth
>>32567698
it's about compromises.
s-ducts may reduce rcs but also reduce engine performance and the flight envelope.
yf-23 did have visible fan blades from certain angles but still had acceptable RCS

They're not, assuming you're not a slavic savage with fetal alcohol syndrome.
Any idea how to get this out? Reload apparently failed due to bad powder or something and now a shell is stuck in the barrel. I am just thankful it didnt blow my hand up.
Just use a rod and tap it out. If you are worried about damaging the barrel then use like a brass punch or something softer than steel.
>>32567630
Stick a wood dowel down the barrel and pound it out
what is a stick and a ruber hammer?
the Ft. Lauderdale has got me thinking. Is anyone else kinda freaked out about the fact that pretty much anyone with a bunch of guns and training for how to use them effectively could just snap mentally?
I myself sometimes fear that one day I'll just lose my mind and not have control over myself anymore, especially with old age, but I don't really have a history of anything other than anxiety, so it's naturally for me to think about things like this lol, but it's especially concerning for people who've seen combat.
Honestly I could never be a shooting instructor just because of the fact that I'd teaching people I don't know how to use weapons, and who the hell knows what kind of mental baggage they have. I don't fear guns, but I do question the competency and responsibility of the general public, and my years in customer service have instilled that in me.
