>high impact polymer
>space age polymer
When will this meme die and we just start calling this shit plastic again? Seriously. I saw a guy with sunglasses at the range the other day with a plastic AR15 lower. I started a conversation with him and when I said "plastic lower" his expression froze and he said somewhat angrily "it's polymer, not plastic". Also why do assholes at the range always wear sunglasses?
Plastic frame doesn't sound as good ad polymer frame.
10/10 marketing ploy
You could make a wood lower and call it polymer though

I'm not white I'm a cacausuoidameriberg, respect my pronouns!!!!!!
>>32579551
Because calling a polymer lower plastic is misleading.
Hey /k/
I'm going to start out being completely honest: I'm new to your ways. I have no firearms, etc. but met several my biological family in recent years. I have learned I am in line to inherit 3-6 "unregistered" rifles/shotguns. I've only used firearms a few times as a small child in the cubscouts and have no idea about any of the laws, where to go to shoot or learn to shoot, how to find out this information, etc. I was hoping /k/ could help and even share some of their stories of inheriting a firearm with me. I'm asking these questions here because my family would rather outsiders didn't know they had these firearms.

Go to your nearest gun shop and ask them about classes
>>32579344
what country are you in?
>>32579381
I feel like a dunce for not having thought of that. Thank you. Before I ask can I legally take classes with unregistered firearms?
>>32579395
I'm in Wisconsin, USA.
I play a custom RPG system with some friends and they asked me if I could introduce firearms because one player wanted to play as a gunner. I said "sure" and introduced a pistol, a rifle and a musket, being cautious with fire rate and power so they wouldn't end up overpowering melee completely. As a limitation, like other ranged weapons, they can't use abilities that aren't specifically designed for that kind of weapon, and their power also doesn't scale with the user strength or dexterity, it's fixed.
What happened is the opposite of what I expected: Guns are extremely weak. They do pack a lot of fixed damage, but they can't compete with other weapons because of stacking buffs. In order to buff them, I decided to make technology take a leap and guns would become more modern, thus getting stronger. The problem is I have next to zero knowledge on guns, and when I tried to research I found that it is a vast and very complex subject.
To the point: I need some help with information and suggestions about guns more modern than flintlock stuff and how I could introduce them. I'm not looking for numbers and specific system details (otherwise I would've posted this on /tg/), I'm looking for generic categories of firearms and their main attributes when compared to other guns (highs and lows).
Thanks for reading and sorry for bothering anyone. Pic related is how guns are currently, next to a zweihander and a danish axe.
>>32579335
Look into the d20 modern outlook on firearms. Also the Sidewinder western supplement. Both are really helpful guidelines to look at.
Also fuck off back to the games board.
>>32579335
Allow for a bayonet to be fixed on the rifles, and for the pistols to be flipped around and used as a club (both of these were done frequently with muzzleloading weapons)
>>32579335
High damage low DPS
Thinking of getting compact beretta px4. What's your guys thoughts?
A really good Glock 19 sized DA/SA. I chickened out at the last second when it got released and bought a Glock 19 instead.
Hate the Glock 19's ergos and might sell it and go the DA/SA route.
An excellent pistol
Luckygunner ammo has a great video on youtube of it
>>32579328
compact carry is about to be released, basically all the mods most people end up making to the compact over time
Whowouldathunkit?

>criminal gun culture
>autistic gun culture
>richfag gun culture
pick one.
Yeah, if you call something largely made up of cliques of wealthy, elitist assholes who have no problem throwing guns being available to the proles under the bus a gun culture, sure...
>>32579281
>London having a gun culture
>England having a gun culture
>The UK having a gun culture
>European gun culture
Now that the dust has settled what is more effective?
9mm or 45mm?
45mm, by a shitload.
>>32579226
9mm has higher capacity but 45mm gets more 1 shot kills.
>>32579477
/thread
Just depends on wether you want to land a few or spray many
Now can someone tell me about this new 9mm ammo?
>>32578438
post'em.
Was America ever capable of real innovation?
When you were ten years old, is this how you thought your life was going to turn out?
>>32579140
whats it like being a wheraboo? Do you still believe the "German engineering" meme?
>>32579140
I'm sorry.
I don't have a .22 yet. The obvious answer is to just get a Ruger 10/22. Thing is I cant stand the fucking bolt release on those things, and I kind of want a bolt action .22 instead of a semi-auto. Are the "youth rifles" a good choice for a plinkster that I can take to any gun range and have some fun with? I also like the idea of something short to double as a pack rifle if necessary. Which one is the best? savage rascal? henry mini-bolt? Remingtn 514?
Only problem you'll run into is that youth rifles tend to be youth sized. i.e. tiny stocks. If you're a manlett this shouldn't be a problem
The youth rifles are okay if you get a full sized stock, but single shot will get old.
Get a Savage MkII with an Accu trigger.
>>32579081
Yeah that's true. I just want a bolt action .22 and don't want to spend much money at all. the Ruger American is great but I'd rather get one of those in .308. I just want a cheap ass .22 bolt action that works.
Hello I don't know bat shit about guns but now they've peaked my interest. please enlighten me
pic unrelated
How much of a noob are you? Like, what DO you know?
>>32578993
what do you want to know?
>>32579002
I literally know nothing. Nothing at all.
Let's talk about Helm's Deep again. How would a force of 1,000 well trained soldiers defend the keep from a force of 10,000 Uruk-hai (super orcs)?
The Uruk's are utilizing archaic weaponry and seize equipement. The human defenders have modern weapons, but no vehicles and a "cap" at 60mm mortars.
We've had this thread before of course, but it's been awhile.
>seize
Seige
Napalm.
Lots and lots of napalm.
>>32578962
Any .308 rifle.
Each person shoots 10 times before they get in crossbow range.
Besides there were a lot more men of Dunland with the Uruks IIRC.
This topic is more interesting when it's 12-24 modern guys with space limitation on the equipment they can bring and time limitation on how long they can train the Rohan defenders.
Everytime a new striker fired handgun comes out, all I hear is "THE TRIGGER IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING" Every motherfucking time, because it's the only thing that makes people fly towards pre-orders and purchases. Then when it comes out, it's the same or ever so slightly better than any striker fired pistol.
Fuck MAC, and fuck sootch00. Goddamn shills, I'm tired of it.
if the reviewer answers "why" it's a good trigger it helps. Good is a subjective measure but things like pull weights matter. You're watching the B team of youtube shills, find better videos.
>>32579248
That's why they emphasize on the trigger so much, it's subjective so they can make it seem amazing when in fact it's adequate. Even trigger pull weights can be fabricated depending on how high/low you place the pull upon the trigger.
I understand the fact, I'm just tired of people falling for it over and over.
>>32578783
>"THE TRIGGER IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING*"
*for a striker fired gun
I want a 700 in 308. Should I order one from remington directly or walk in to a local gun store instead?
Only want to use it to go to an outdoor range and practice at long ranges a couple times a month.
>>32578657
whatever the cheapest option is honestly who cares.
The real question is why do you want a R700 in the first place? Unless you are looking to sink real deep with lots of addons and aftermarket stuff, there are better options in both performance and price.
>>32578682
I like the look and bolt action. What do you suggest?
Spend a couple hours at a range just chilling plinking plates as far as I can without looking like le edgy militia or tacticool.
>>32578657
You cannot order directly from a firearm manufacturer, they have set up a network of distributors and retailers.
Why does everyone here shit on .22s?
The ammo is cheap as dirt and it can EASILY penetrate a skull. Why do you guys act like its a bb gun?
>>32578553
because when the troublemaker is moving around it is very difficult to aim & hit their skull
so always shoot for center of mass
>>32578553
think of it as having a 5 inch penis (.22) vs. having an 8.5 inch penis (.45ACP)
ill go with the 8.5 inch penis no homo
>>32578553
Nothing wrong with it except when people claim it is ALL you need to stop someone when they can afford much better options.
I think I want to buy a gun for my household and I just want to know what to expect going to the gun store tomorrow. I live in Texas and have one just up the street, but I don't want to look like an idiot going in. So what should I know?
Things to tell the clerk
-How familiar you are with firearms
-Whether or not you need to worry about penetration (do yoiu live in a rural area or an apartment
-if there is anything else you plan to do with the gun (target shooting, clay shooting, concealed carry, etc)
-how much money you have to spend
and try to get something with a flashlight. You need to know if that bump in the night is a drunkard who accidentally came to the wrong house, a cop, or a burglar. You don't shoot until you know there is a threat.
>>32578457
Gun store owners don't judge you for not knowing about guns.
They are pleased to make a new sale and make one more prospective gun owner/advocate. So just tell him you don't know anything and he will gladly walk you through everything.
>>32578495
Also OP if you don't intend to hunt or shoot clays or targets but want to have it "just in case" please either kill yourself or consider that you may want to know how to properly use the thing you're trusting your life to.
