Hey /k/ I just read an article about a new type of body armour designed to be light and flexible. Its made with a combination of ceramic balls and some kind of foam, now I'm wondering, what does /k/ think of this?
>what does /k/ think of this?
We think you should put a fucking link to what you're talking about.
Never heard of it, link us fampai
also just from the sound of it it's likely heavier than the equivalent hard armor

Not OP but this is it I think.
http://www.wpafb.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/973563/flexing-in-the-line-of-fire-lightweight-flexible-body-armor-for-the-force-of-th
>The new armor plate uses a ceramic ball matrix encapsulated in foam material, which is then backed with multiple layers of polyethylene sheets.
>“These are game-changers,” said Goins. “Our flexible body armor is 50 percent lighter than current models and much thinner. Not only that, the armor can conform to both male and female body types, be dropped and still used, and protects against multiple hits. There’s nothing like this out there.”
>be talking to my russian friend about guns
>mfw she sends me this
>admits it's "daft" but claims that the stock is cool and it'd be fun to shoot
>also says this would be horribly illegal everywhere
I don't even know what to say honestly, i just had to share this with someone.
>>32586832
ww1 fan?
gun needs to be at least 26 inches long with 16 inch barrel if you're putting a stock on it.
>>32586832
what in the fuck is that
>>32586832
Probably the closest Russians are allowed to get to owning an actual gun.
Picking up a Beretta M9A3 in the next 2 weeks for my first pistol. Please tell me how stupid I am and why I shouldn't buy it.
Home defense btw I don't plan on CC
Inherently it's not a bad first pistol at all.
FDE is ugly as shit though, and you should reconsider your life if that's the color you went for.
C'mon faggots. I want to hear an opinion or else im going to know it's a great decision regardless of price. And fuck off with the "slide safety" meme, I personally like it
>>32586712
>doesn't know that's the only color it comes in
Lol, why are you here?
What guns can $100 buy? Preferably in 25 acp or .22
You can get a single action .22 revolver brand new for a little over $150
>>32586556
Nothing safe or reliable
the closest thing is a .22 single shot rifle
Or you can make a shotgun out of pipes
>>32586556
hi points are closer to $100 than 200
Would "modern" weapons work with black powder ? Let's suppose I reload my cartridges with black powder instead of smokeless pellets : what problems would arise from this ?
>>32586554
Rust... About it. Clean it good afterwards and you'll be fine. BP is far easier on guns.

smoke
Lower velocity to projectiles
More smoke
More fouling and potential for corrosion if not cleaned properly
Less effective gaspressure if gas-operated mechanism
>nothing critical
Ok, so I read the sticky and found no pertinent information on the subject of higher caliber ARs.
What in /k/'s opinion is the most well built, and cost effective .308 or 30-06 AR available on the market?
I remember hearing somewhere that the SR-25 was a meme and wasn't reliable but is that true? Are there any outstanding competitors?
>>32586520
Bump, wanna know about those rifles
>>32586520
>>32586549
GA Precision GAP-10 G2
>>32586520
>Ok, so I read the sticky
I like you.
There are basically two patterns available: DPMS and Armalite. IIRC, DPMS patterns make up something like 80% of the market, so going with one of those would be the smarter move.
As for specific brands, I'm not entirely sure which give the best quality/price, though telling us what your budget is would definitely help in narrowing down a nice rifle or good components to assemble one yourself.
Things guns say to convince you to buy them.
squeeze me tightly, big boy
>>32586445
"Hey I'm a talking gun."
I'd buy that shit.
>>32586445
>I'm only going to appreciate in value
>Onii-chan, d-don't you like me?
>I'm not THAT expensive, plus if you buy me later it'll only be more money, it's not like your dollar is going to go up.
>Look at it this way, if there's a big catastrophe, I could save your life!
>You could definitely use me for home defense.
>You could definitely use me for defending the neighborhood.
>You need to get me now because you'll have too much trouble choosing between the previous half-dozen for whatever situation.
>You don't even have that many guns, what are you, a pleb?
What does /k/ think of windham industries or green mountain barrel Co. ?
Building one of these puppies 20" chrome lined/something corrosive resistant and 1:7
>>32586180
What in the unholy fuck? Stay consistent at least with your build. If you want to get your "It ain't me" on then build an A1, not some inbred shit like in the pic.
>>32586180
I bought a DEZ arms one for my recent A1 build. It's a great barrel so far.

Be afraid.....be very fucking afraid, even if you are on their side.
>>32586140
Seem like my kind of guys.
This is now a spurdo thread.
:-DD
What sort of equipment did city guards often carry besides a sword/club in the 17th/early 18th century? I'm building a D&D 5e character and I want a semi-realistic background for him.
>>32586115
Possibly a bullseye lantern, and maybe a bell? You could do an hourglass, too. Have him ding the bell every half hour and announce that all's well.
If your PCs take out the watchman, roll against a probability that an insomniac citizen will wonder why the bell didn't ring.
>>32586251
Thanks, any sort of obscure weapons or peacekeeping equipment?
>>32586251
roll for the insomniac citizen really being a werebear who needs the bell ring every half hour or he transforms and kills everyone ending this stupid fucking thread and causing OP to have an aneurism so he dies a painful fucking death for being a huge nerd for talking about something that in truth i actually like but i'm afraid to admit because i was raised in a household where acting like a white kid was frowned upon and thats sad because alot of my friends were like this and became drug addicts but its ok because they have welfare even though i'm not ok with the welfare state they are my friends so what am i supposed to do?
A small group of kommandos from AZ, NM, and TX are planning an event in New Mexico. It'll be a weekend long event and anyone is welcome to come. More info will be released as it develops, for now here are the basic details.
>when
15 - 16 April
>where
We will be using the small town of Pie Town as a rendezvous point.

How did they maintain their funs back then /k/? fighting back the tide of rust and wear and tear? Suppose a SHTF scenario and we run out of the good stuff? Then what?
>>32585988
Lots of oil and cleaning.
>>32586037
What kind of oil? Like animal fat oils or what? I mean, back then you could wander onto a battlefield or come across a gun like there was no tomorrow. Unless it was considered a luxury to maintain weapons.
>>32586064
>>I mean, back then you could wander onto a battlefield or come across a gun like there was no tomorrow
>MFW I would've wandered from battlefield to battlefield collecting funs from around the world
What country has the best ground force in terms of ability etc.
Who are the top 5 countries Army/Marine wise (Not navy, airforce)
USA?
How close is Russia & China to USA.
Also what about Australia and Europeans? Please give me a top 20 list.
Are Poos powerful with their army?
On paper, US forces are overall superior to everyone else. Locally, they are not.
>>32585958
Well if you're purely going off ground forces Russia stands out as having more armor than anyone else, and more self propelled guns. That said without airpower or navies China still has a couple hundred million they can afford to throw at you
>>32586349
>Chinks using 1940s Soviet wave tactics modern equipment and logistics
That sounds fucking awesome. Not for the 6.8 billion little yellow men though.
What do you guys think of the stock glock "goal post" sights? I've never shot a glock before.
There are better alternatives.
>>32585866
Pretty meh overall, but ive never had to use my pistol for anything past 10 ish feel irl so i never bothered to change mine. They get the job done.
>>32585893
Feet, not feel.
I have many more than 10 feels.
