There is literally no point to red dots anymore with variable scopes unless you're literally only shooting indoor distances.
>>32674259
yeah but scopes look like AIDS on an AK, I like my T2 aimpoint on my SLR
>>32674259
I guess...Maybe? I disagree, sir!
>>32674259
variable scopes can have bad parallax errors.

How the fuck does the recoil of the bullet exploding in the chamber not blow the bolt of a straight-pull rifle back out of the gun? Seriously. If pulling back on it can make it open, why doesn't the force of the explosion push it open?
>>32672120
Because they engineered it structurally with safety in mind?
>>32672120
The handle is connected to an unlocked portion of a bolt that can lock or unlock the important part.
The chamber is connected to the locked portion that doesn't move at normal chamber pressure.
>>32672120
Basically, they have bolts and bolt carriers, just like an auto. The charging handle is actually attached to the carrier. It will generally initiate a camming motion via a helical groove on the surface of the bolt, thus unlocking it.
"What do you need a gun for anon?"

Oh boy
>no minimum standards specified, any permit works
>don't need to be a resident of the state that your concealed carry permit is from, states with constitutional carry can issue concealed carry permits with no requirements whatsoever nationally
>all state laws about who can possess a firearm and where, with the exception of private and state property as decided by the respective owner of that property, are null and void so long as you have a carry permit or the state permits constitutional carry
>given how the part about possession of a firearm is worded and how the bill specifies the magazines and ammunition for use in the pistol are included, it's possible that state laws regulating "assault weapons" so long as they're handguns, magazine capacity so long as the magazines are for your handgun, and the type of ammunition so long as it's for use in your handgun don't apply if you have a carry permit
>922(q) (federal gun free school zone regulations) no longer apply if you can legally carry
>it appears that you must carry "concealed" although "concealed" is not defined by the bill
>the gun must be a handgun that isn't also a machine gun or destructive device

>Newly released pic shows J-11B carried the unnamed long range AAM in last year's Red Sword exercise.
Looks like this monster AAM was long in service already for it to have taken part in China's Red Flag equivalent last year.

A japanese PLA analyst believes that this missile might be the long rumored PL-21.
https://twitter.com/OedoSoldier/status/821037096550809600
The PL-21 first was designed as a Meteor-like missile, but now it seems like they have switched to conventional rocket motor. Basically like the PL-15 as well, which also was first designed with ramjet too.
Thinking about buying my first gun very soon, looking for some sort of rifle. (Not interested in a hand gun currently)
I want something that is easy to fix or work on, cheap ammo (So I can shoot it as often as I can), and a good weapon for any situation like hunting, shooting at the range, home defense, survival, and etc.
At first I was thinking of getting a AK but I think for now a 10/22 Ruger or something would be better suited for a first time gun owner.
Would appreciate some advice or insight! Thanks in advance.

WASR. DO NOT buy American AKs.
>>32668056
There is nothing wrong with it anon. I have been a city dweller my whole life and have not even shot a gun before.
I just want to get something to start off with, and get some experience. .22 LR ammo is extremely cheap and would be great for practice.
>>32668072
Agreed mate they suck, I have seen videos on them and am not a fan.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7EoB_ApRto&t=926s&list=LLp0Lu3sAnklJd44rbBwW2NQ&index=4
So I've had a bad armadillo problem at my house and a friend's and I've started shooting them with a 22lr typically at 20-60 yards and every time I've ended up with a dead armadillo which is great.
The last three I've jumped I only had my glock 19 and shot at them with it. Two times I shot at them from the rear at less than 20 yards and one was broadside at 8 yards, every time they ran off afterwards. At first I thought I was missing but I ran the last one down while mag dumping and saw he was bleeding on the body and that I shot his tail broken.
I never would have thought 9mm, even hollow points would ricochet off them if 22lr went through so I'm not totally convinced I'm hitting them but after looking online I'm seeing stories of 38 and 9mm bouncing off. I'm a decent shot at 30 yards and drilling a paper plate at that distance every time isn't a problem but maybe I just got jumpy and flinched.
Any anons have experience in using handgun rounds on them?
Whatever you do make sure to rub them against yourself after you kill them. It's great for your skin.
Eat them to gain stone skin

When can we expect things like augmented reality and powered exo-armor to become viable in sections of the military?
The idea of giving soldiers much better situational awareness thanks to additional sensors and having computers do all the hard work of pattern recognition, alongside increased protection, strength, and carry capability of powered suits would give them quite an edge.
>>32665971
>When can we expect things like augmented reality and powered exo-armor to become viable in sections of the military?
Immediately after tech advances to the point where bipedal independent drones replace soldiers.
AR requires functional machine vision, exo-suit requires mastery of movement, balance and a viable mobile power supply. With these things you already have a robot that can navigate with ease. Why waste time putting a human inside it.
>>32665971
imagine augmented reality in the battle field
all the ofpor look like little toy barnies or what ever you hate or like and all dead babies on the floor look like candy canes. All smell of death smells like roses and oranges or what ever you want
all done to make you less trumatised lol
>>32665971
>augmented reality
If you enjoy being able to actual see your enemy, I suggest keeping it on the down low. Army has the Land Warrior project, which includes the "augmented reality" with a GPS screen eye piece.
>power armor
Moment you find a good battery that doesn't burn out in two weeks, sure.
>"reviews" guns
>it's just ten minutes of rambling followed by some boring steel shooting
>"BUDS BUDS BUDS FEDERAL FEDERAL FEDERAL"
>never goes into any of the specifications or technical information
why is this allowed?
they're not really meant to be reviews
DELET THIS!
>>32665269
How do you actually review a gun? They're all pretty much the same. I only watch his videos for the close up shots.
Until someone's actually going to go over the unique specs and torture test the gun there's no point of a "review." MAC comes close to doing that, AK Operators Union actually goes beyond that. They're the only real reviewers I know of.
Good morning /k/. What did you buy this week?
