yo guys so,Im gonna buy my first gun and I am heavily considering the Springfield EMP 4 9mm (pic related),I have been going to the shooting range since i was like 16 whit my dad so I have the basic experience whit handguns,Anyways i just wanna know what you guys think abouth it and if you have any recomendations on other guns I should look at before buying this I would apricciate it .

The majority of compact 1911s are jam-o-matics and overpriced even if they did work. I can't speak for that one in particular but you may regret buying it.
If you want a 1911 platform, get a basic full-sized Rock Island GI model. If you want a compact pistol with a hammer and steel frame, CZ RAMI is great but so are some others.
>>32829718
Is rock island a good company? I was wanting 1911 for my first gun too and I found one for 400 bucks
>>32829746
its a cheap company. the guns function but arent really suitable for upgrade potential. as a gun its good enough
New to /k/
What is the most idiot-proof gun available for home defense?
Least likely to jam or misfire, easiest to repair and clean, good stopping power without too much kick for a novice marksman.
Bonus points if it has nice spread.
>>32829344
ar15
Pump shotgun. Sure there are alternatives. But nothing gets an intruder running faster than the chakka of the pump. If you want to go for kill alone, get a side by side - it's possibly the simplest weapon mechanism since they invented sticks. Too much kick? Get a cal 16 instead of a cal 12.

Fuck your bait
Hey /k/ should I get a plate carrier http://m.ebay.com/itm/251371339174?_mwBanner=1 or a flak vest http://m.ebay.com/itm/COVER-BODY-ARMOR-POLISH-ARMY-VEST-OLV-WOODLAND-ARMED-TACTICAL-FRAGMENTATION-NEW-/172056719889?nav=SEARCH and can I add plates to a flak vest?
>>32829320
standard plates probably wouldn't work in either of those and they come with no armor. if you want a cheap vest that won't accept plates you'll get buy this
http://www.keepshooting.com/french-military-flak-vest.html
get a non-surplus plate carrier if you want actual armor.
>>32829451
Not OP, but would that use regular plates? I think it looks sexy af and I'd prefer something like that over a carrier like LEOs and civies wear.
>>32829498
pretty sure it won't as is, but it should with some sewing.
http://www.keepshooting.com/french-heavy-assault-vest.html
i got one of these and all the plate pockets are too small for esapis
most annoying thing about your favorite gun that you own.
mine refuses to work properly with Cor-Bon DPX. FTE, FTF mostly, and i think it has to do with the COAL being slightly longer than most combined with the flat meplat. most other JHP are fine though, but i've only tried Gold Dots, Golden Saber, and HST's.

leave a list of decent/ price worthy parts you would recommend for a build and who manufactures them. Bonus points if you list price or sites to find them.

Is this pretty much how tank warfare was in WW2?
>>32829045
Whoever saw the enemy first was more likely to be the victor in any tank battle. Hence insane shit like when a M8 Greyhound armored car knocked out a Tiger 2.
No, Pacific should be sherman vs emplacement. I don't think there was a tank engagement as big as the one you have in the pic.
>>32829076
I think the first engagement on the eastern front with kingtigers consisted of a T34/85 hunting them through a village and wrecking 3 of them.

I'll post what I have.
Is the TLR1 worth the money? I can get a normal flashlight for $5.
>>32830924
normal light is going to die from the recoil after a few shots
>>32830924
its pretty nice i got one on my bedstand gun. its really bright and easy to use. make sure you get the hl version.
>>32830939
but a few shots is all I need for a would be attacker
Is there any real advantage to owning a 5.45 AK over a 7.62? I dont see any but I might as well see if anyone has any.
Aside from being lighter, are there any legitimate reasons that it would be a better shtf round?
>>32828788
Longer range than its bigger brother, improved accuracy due to less recoil for the manlets, and better wound cavity dynamics against flesh targets
>>32828788
5.45.
You really don't need another reason. It's a neat-o, effective, and cheap.
You can actually hit shit past 300 yards
I've seen it done differently in TV, movies vidya etc but I don't really know if any of those are accurate depictions of how you'd want to take cover in a real fire fight scenario.
Do you want to hug the corner like in these video game screen shots? It seems to me that you have to expose too much of yourself to get a shot off.
>>32828756
Not behind trees .. where your enemy last saw you he will try to shoot trou the wall .. so once in cover move 2-3 m more. Let friendlys flank him and/or move away where you came from (if its safe).
In forests lay down and roll downhill.
>>32828805
Alright so that explains where to position yourself in cover, but how? Like in my original post that guy has his back up against the cover and peeks out. Do you face the cover? Is there a good representation of how its done?
As the name says I just paid 100 dollars in cash and got me this lower receiver.
While it is an AR15 lower receiver, it isn't made by colt but ruger instead which is all they had at the store.
I would like to know is what can I do with a ruger receiver compared to a colt receiver and what parts are interchangeable and non interchangeable with the ruger brand compared to the colt brand?
Can I simply use any other AR15 parts and kits for this or am I limited to ruger or specific parts and kits for this one?
Can I use any trigger group besides the ruger one for this lower receiver and can I use a direct gas impingement system set up instead of a piston set up?
Finally what are the pros and cons of this ruger lower receiver compared to colts lower receiver?
I'm a beginner to this and I just wish for some help and tips on this.
>Pic related is my ruger lower receiver.
>>32828744
You fucked up.
Almost no one makes Ruger compatible parts these days.
You might as well sell it.
AR15's are the lego's of the gun world. Any parts should work without any hitches. I have a spikes tactical lower. Anderson upper. Anderson barrel. BMC bolt carrier group.

So what's up with the retarded "read the sticky" comments in every single thread here?
Is there some secret sticky that only glockfags can see or is it just one guy who's so salty about "his" gun not being chosen so he's shitting up every goddamn thread?
Disassembled guns thread to keep it /k/ related.
Also post sigs in hope that one autist has a stroke.
>>32828402
read the sticky you autist, it's right in front of your face.
>>32828402
I had one. It was a lemon. Traded it for an xd. I was bummed out. I really enjoyed it's trigger.
>>32828445
Oh there you are.
So is the p320 so offensive to you that you think it belongs in /pol/?
Am I triggering you?
I'm looking into building a suppressor for a 300 blk. I'm thinking of using the sig welded core design. What are your thoughts?
>>32828264
Fill out the appropriate paperwork and pay the tax.
Or come back after the HPA passes.
If ATF pls go.
>>32828264
My advice is to wait a couple months in case the HPA passes
>>32828264
You can make a pretty efficient suppressor by taking a 1 1/2" steel pipe (max length 8") and filling it with thick rubber o-rings (available at Home Depot, just find some that are at least 1/4" thick and fit snugly in the length of the pipe). Mark your shots, because the rubber will melt almost immediately, so you can't spray and pray.
It will wear out very quickly, I'd suggest using it for 2 shells max in a shotgun, but more realistically a revolver. After all, the point is to not be heard and not leave evidence, both of which revolvers excel at.
just bought the smith and wesson sd9ve
how bad did i fuck up
>>32828248
Honestly it's okay. Should've saved for a glock though.
>>32828248
Should of spent alittle more and got a m&p.
You fucked up.
>>32828268
This. The problem is you'll hate the trigger so much you're going to go to apex gun parts and by the time your finally done with the gun, you will be all: "ahhhh shit, they were right. I should have just gotten something a lil better right out of the box".
