Alright /k/, looking to buy my first firearm. Grew up shooting, but never had a comfy range nearby after moving away. (At virginia tech now and there's a super comfy range not even 10 minutes away.)

I'm looking for a long range bolt action for precision shooting. Brief research has lead me to think I'd like to get a model 700 sps tac aac-sd in .308 due to the model 700's reputation, price range, "upgradeability," and, specifically for the aacsd, the immediate ability to throw a supressor on it.

I haven't yet begun looking at optics as I know that's a whole other can of worms, but I'd like to hear what you bastards might have to say on the topic.

Basic requirements:
Sub-$700 price
1moa out of the box
Threaded barrel (can be done by gunsmith, i know)

Suggestions on optics/supressors/triggers and other goods also welcome. I was most likely going to look at leupold for optics (though they're probably out of my price range and a timney trigger for the first upgrade.

Also, I believe I heard something at some point that Remington was bought by another company and the quality went to shit afterwards...any truth to that?

Yes, their quality has been sorely lacking in recent years. The got bought out by the same company that got marlin as well

Any AR-15 will do that out to 700 yards for less per shot than basic 308 ball.
>>

If you do your part, that is, and you are probably not yet capable of it. However, that just makes it a good chance to learn.
With 223/556 you can push to 700 yards with skill, and you can switch to something like 6.5 Grendel for even better performance. In fact, you could build a 6.5 Grendel (24cpr ball, no shit) AR-15 with some bottom bitch glass for less than $700.

And since it's a fast fired slug gun, it's not like there is little recoil.

Get a Primary Arms Micro Dot instead. The little fuckers are invincible and like $150. Guys on video have shot them with bird shot and they've still run. Rob Ski from AKOU also uses PA and they survive all his torture tests.

Need help:
New to AK'S was wondering what a fair price for a 1978 Wasr 10/63 ak47 is? This one is on Armslist for $550 comes with 1 mag.
Thanks.

Check for mag wobble and sight cant. Then buy it.
>>

For today's market, that's a fair price depending on how much wear it's endured. Tell the seller to send you a pic of the rifling in the barrel.
>>

Wait until we find out if Russian sanctions will be lifted, you might be able to save a ton of money. These rifles aren't going anywhere and are only going to get cheaper, I'd wait a month or two.

What's the purpose of a 'default' MP5 (like in pic) in this age?

Why do many law enforcement units still use it?

it's just a short gun that fires 9mm, with nothing special about it, so you're better off with an AR SBR because it has a better cartridge, right?

If it i was an MP5SD it would be better since the noise reduction would give you an advantage, so why do police still use the ones like in pic related?

Remember how in vietnam they had those bamboo spike traps? Or how in WW1 barbed wire was placed in awkward locations to trip moving soldiers up for an easier shot?

In modern warfare, are there any traps to speak of, even if they are made by individuals, not issued?

I can survive with a knife in my arm, and get to keep it.
I can do a Michael Jackson spin and then make him do a group choreography at the cost of my hitpoints.
I can simply fuck off once I see a hand holding an "object" from a pocket.
I can rush in step with a side kick before footing is seated for a lethal knife throw.

Difference between these two videos is one person has a knife in him that has penetrated a few inches and will probably be fine and the other has six fuck off holes in him, any one of which could be instant death.

The Department of Defense today has identified Chief Special Warfare Operator William “Ryan” Owens as the first American war casualty of the President Donald Trump era.

Owens, 36, of Peoria, Ill., died Jan.28 of wounds received during a raid conducted in Yemen. Three other service members were wounded in the raid.

Nava Special Warfare Command confirmed Owens was assigned to an “East Coast-based Special Warfare unit.” While multiple news outlets are reporting the unit as Seal Team Six, the Navy would not confirm.

An estimated 14 al-Qaida terrorists were killed during the raid, according to a release by the U.S. Central Command.

“Americans are saddened this morning with news that a life of a heroic service member has been taken in our fight against the evil of radical Islamic terrorism,” Trump said in a White House press release on Jan. 29. “My deepest thoughts and humblest prayers are with the family of this fallen service member.

A fifth service member was injured when “a U.S. military aircraft assisting in the operation experienced a hard landing at a nearby location," according to the CENTCOM release.

That aircraft was unable to fly after the landing and was intentionally destroyed.

Owens enlisted in the Navy in Aug. 24, 1998. After initially training in intelligence, he served his initial duty at the Office of Naval Intelligence in Suitland, Maryland, before attending basic and advanced SEAL training in Coronado, California, completing training in December 2002.

His first tour as a SEAL was at a West Coast unit, followed by three consecutive East Coast unit tours. He was on his fifth team tour when he was killed. He'd been with that unit just over two years.

He was selected for chief petty officer in 2009.

Along with his SEAL Trident and Basic Parachutist wings, he is qualified to wear the following awards:

Navy/Marine Corps Medal
Bronze Star w/Combat “V” (2 awards)
Bronze Star
Joint Service Commendation Medal w/Combat “V” (2 awards)

I cut a big hammer out of a downed tree. Pretty heavy. Gonna wrap the handle where it meets the head in copper, need to trim a bit off one side for balance. Haven't decided whether to skin it or not, probably will so I can burn a design into it.

Thoughts? Anyone done anything similar?

I've also been working on a PVC shortbow, and been straightening wood trimmings for arrow staves. Gonna cut my head's out of broken glass, and got a bag of chicken feathers for fletchings.
