This should be a nice oddball thread - making blanks.
I own a couple of 9mm pistols. Sure I got 9mm ammo already, and am a reloader. Good to go, really. But I started to wonder; how hard would it be to make 9mm blanks? I don't have a tool for crimping that sort of neck but I could make a piece of cardboard in front. What would the powder loads be like? Would there be pressure issues? Anything else?
>>32869401
A rosette crimp will let you make that front shape. To make blanks cycle, you need a partially closed off barrel, which is why militaries use a blank firing adapter when condicting blank training.
There are custom barrels you can buy that are set up for blanks already, or you can make your own if you are handy.
>>32869486
I can buy a blank firing gun for less than a barrel will cost me, and with considerably less hassle. Damnit. But I will look for that rosetta crimper anyway, if only to get an idea of price and availability.
I would suggest against it. Pleanty of people have died from blanks.
It normalizes aiming at things you don't intend to kill, any thing slid into the barrel can become a projectile, you can mix up magazines and have live bullets when you intend to fire blanks, or vice versa if you need to defend yourself, also people do stupid shit with them like pretending to an hero and actually an heroing.
Still, do what you want

Im building a first line belt, low profile, could conceal under a jacket. I like the idea of like a division load out for shtf but I think its really un realistic.
A low pro gunfighter belt will allow me to carry extra ammo, an ifak, a knife or multitool. Pretty much all Ill need for a real emergency.
If a huge storm comes in and I have to go check on family I can throw it on and have supplies in case I run into anything crazy, but Im not outfitted super autistism level 9000.

How do you chose a suppressor? Will all .22 suppressors work for any .22? The gun I'm shooting is a Savage Mark ii F. Cheaper than better.
>>32868971
First of all do you have the mkii with the threaded barrel
>>32868971
I choose by
Ease of disassembly/cleaning (.22 is gross)
Price
Materials
Thread pitch (pretty standard)
Performance
>>32868971
One thing you will find with suppressing a cheap .22 is that the cost of threading the barrel might approach the cost of a new gun or barrel. If the barrel isn't factory threaded that it.
Don't skimp on threading. Misaligned threads can destroy your can. How pissed would you be if you wait a year for your stamp then grenade your can.
Their are tons of supressor tests online. the common theme on .22 supressors is:
>they are all pretty good
>most are pretty cheap
>the "premium" cans tend to only make much difference on pistols. Rifles supress really nicely
>as mentioned make sure it's serviceable. 22 is dirty as fuck you will need to clean lead out of it eventually

consider going to therapy OP, it sounds more of a argophobia/social anxiety issue rather than a gun range issue, there is help out there.

Poorfag here, I've never quite had the opportunity to shoot a revolver before. What would make me value shooting a Webley more than a S&W Model 29?
I've heard that Webleys are actually wildly difficult to stay accurate with. Something about the heavy trigger pull and the fact that the whole gun cocks back.
>>32868508
>the whole gun cocks back.
What?
Hey /k/, back in the IDF I had something weird happen to me during a live fire drill that no officer could explain with my CAR-15. I was hoping one of you would have an explanation.
I was firing off like a madman (semi auto, per IDF doctrine, but as madman as I could) and suddenly, one of the shots flashed off with a blinding bright white light. For a second there I thought my flash hider flew off (hey, there is precedent, but I take care of my guns) but everything was in order. I resumed firing and nothing was out of the order.
The ammunition was regular FMJ lead 5.56, nothing special like tracers or anything. Shit never happened again, but the other guys in the drill verified they saw it happen too. Any ideas?
