>I've owned many Rugers, never a complaint about reliability or build quality
>holds 17 rds
>a bit on the heavy side
>hefty trigger weight @ around 7lbs
>only $425 a local fun store
was going to buy an FNS for EDC but saw this thing for so cheap.... seems like a comparable options. Is the extra $100 just for a name? any of you guys actually have one of these pistols, or shot one?
I just want a no-nonsense pistol for my EDC with the following requirements
>15rd capacity minimum
>9mm
>full size
>no DA/SA because I don't want 2 trigger pulls
>front and rear dovetail to slap on some TFX
>rail for my TLR-1
>425
Not at that price. You'll be overpaying by a good 50 dollars
>>32881129
Id rather buy an fn.hell for lil less you can get a canik and it will be a better pistol.
They're heavy for what they really are, a re-engineered SR with the new edgey frames. Sadly it overshadowed the sr45 on release so we never got the compact.
>Most used models are expensive
>Consume a lot of fuel
>Not very effective against Explosively Formed Penetrator (EFP)
Also, are they really a need for any army?
Should countries with humble budgets even consider them?
>>32881069
Yes. The V-hull and uparmoring for a patrol vehicle is now a baseline for a modern combat vehicle. Even lighter offroading vehicles like the MATV-SF and JLTV have fuckloads more armor and interior space than humvees.
>Not effective against 'x'
They aren't invincible. No vehicle is invincible. But they GREATLY improve survivability and force the enemy into using heavier or more complex methods which are more time consuming to build and place.
>>32881069
They stop people losing their lives.
I doubt fuel economy is really on the list of things to worry about for most militaries.
The people we were fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq didn't have EFPs. When fighting a modern army they might not be as useful but still they offer more protection than a Hummer or a snatch landrover.
>>32881069
>Not very effective against Explosively Formed Penetrator (EFP)
Still very effective against the rest of the stuff.
It's like saying aircraft may not be very good because SAM systems exist.
http://www.westportnow.com/index.php?/v3/comments/arrest_after_cops_classify_weapon_as_assault_rifle/
A Westport man who had turned in his firearms into the Police Department for safe keeping was arrested after officers discovered one of the weapons qualified as an assault rifle and that it had not been registered, police said today.
William Stenson, 68, of Saugatuck Avenue was charged with possession of an assault weapon upon his arrest via a warrant Tuesday after an examination of the firearm determined that the forward pistol grip and collapsible stock made it an assault weapon, said Lt. David Farrell.
Following the Sandy Hook shootings, legislation was passed that banned all assault rifles and required all of those who legally owned them to have the weapons registered. The new law also limited the number of rounds magazines would hold to 10, and Stenson reportedly had 13 high capacity magazines.
Stenson was released after posting a $5,000 bond and arraigned in Norwalk Superior Court Wednesday.

Has there ever been a time where Muslim forces (military, paramilitary, militias, etc) have treated their prisoners according to established wartime law?
Any historical examples? Recent examples?
Do any other fighting groups have the same kind of rap sheet? Should they receive special treatment in military laws?

Fiction
There's been a lot of talk in the recent days from the European leaders of necessity of beefing up Euro armies, and Europe standing on its own in the face of any aggression.
Obviously, the main threat to Europe is Russia right now, so I wonder how would a war between Russian Federation and a united Europe play out, with no direct military assistance from the US. Anyone have solid data on European nuclear weapons and capabilities? What about their air forces and artillery? All opinions are welcome, but I hope we can keep meming to a minimum.
Britain only has 250 warheads afaik, and France has around 300, but I have no idea what type they are and how good their delivery systems are. Russia has about 1500 usable weapons total.
Either way, unless most Russian weapons are actually in a terrible state and mostly unusable, Europe won't be able to suppress Russian weapons with a counterforce strike. Russians have enough missiles (if they work) to suppress the French and British silos and nuclear command and control centers to risk sparing some of their weapons for later countervalue strikes. Europe doesn't have that, the only ace up their sleeve is the Trident missiles on any submarines out on patrol during the strike. Either way, it'll get nasty, way worse than an American-Russian nuclear exchange.
>>32879600
I would say the bigger threat is from Immigration but Russia is still a threat to Eastern Europe. I think NATO has done enough to reinforce the Baltic's. It's enough to deter any hybrid warfare stuff and limits Russia's play book.
NATO other than dumb bombs and maybe a few nuclear cruise missiles doesn't really have any tactical nukes. Besides the US, France probably has the best tactical nuclear weapons in NATO. However, it doesn't pale in comparison to the Russians.
>Arty
Russia has a lot of it and is getting a lot of practice in Ukraine. However, it's not very accurate and to destroy a target it requires a crazy amount of ammo compared to NATO.
>Air force
NATO has the advantage if they can manage the S-400 and S-300. And if the airfields can survive tactical ballistic missiles.
Is it just me or is the fact of Europe freaking the fuck out about Russia a bit silly at this point? They don't have the might of the combined Warsaw pact anymore. Eastern European satellites states are friends and even allies to western Europe and America now.
We own what was once the Russian buffer zone. The EU and just the Eurasia members of Nato could it seemingly defeat Russia alone.

Probably that you can sell them for a decent markup rather quickly, and make a profit.
First thing that struck me when I took an assault weapon apart was how simple it was inside
Why weren't they invented like 300 years ago?
Chemistry and metallurgy are more important than the mechanical complexity.
>>32879457
>what is rifling
>what is smokeless powder
>what are metallic cartridges
>et cetera
Because all the prerequisite technology and knowledge wasn't invented or acquired yet, you retard.
There is a lot more going on in a rifle than what you can see when you simply take one apart.
To create viable repeating rifles, we needed:
-Tremendous advances in steel making, and the Bessemer process had to be invented.
-Stamping/milling technology
-Ability to harden metal with consistency
-Advances in chemisty to make smokeless powder (BP fowls actions very quickly)
-Metallic cartridges with primers technology
-Gas checked jacketed projectiles
-A doctrinal need for such a firearm was not present until post WWI arguably
