I want to learn more about tanks and armored vehicles in general. I already know a fair amount from my time in the army but I want to educate myself without spending any money. What are some good resources to learn about specs and shit? Commencing random dump

Without being sarcastic at all, the internet is a good place to start.
Between google and wikipedia you should be fairly set up to know the basics, and more importantly, know where to go from t here.
Who was in the wrong here?
>>32937627
Russia, for never actually making any real tooling for the Tu-160 and thus being unable to mass produce them. Each one is essentially a hand crafted work.
Another pic.
Apparently Russia sending bombers to Spain is somehow newsworthy.
"Intercepted" by Typhoons, Mirages, Rafales, and spanish F-18. The french even brought a C-135 refueler.
>>32937669
Of course the French would bring the non combative support plane.
What does /k/ think of .22 replicas of other guns? Which ones does /k/ own?
pic related, Mossberg Blaze 47
A lot of them seem kind of shitty.
The M&P-15/22 seems like it can be reasonably fun, but I hear it also has some problems.
The GSG line of .22 caliber clones seem like they'd be reasonably fun, and at least their AK actually looks like an AK proper, rather than the horrendous Mossberg BlazeIt, and their MP5 clones seem like they'd be fun plinkers (particularly the pistol ones). I think it helps that they aim to get the same outline and profile, even modeling the magazines to look the part (even if just passingly).
Oh yeah, and they also have a Sturmgewehr copy, which if anything is just kind of nice for the fact that there isn't a lot of other good options for a collector to have anything like a Sturmgewehr, the real ones are NFA items and goes for a couple of thousand (but not AS expensive as you'd expect from a transferable assault rifle), and even the upcoming HMG one will be $$$$ (while not even being 100% authentic).
There's also the old PTR44 copies, which I heard were junk, something like "the manufacturer recommends you don't shoot it too much", and I don't need to tell you that's a big warning sign.
Anyway, at least the Sturmgewehr one seem to function reasonably, even if it's mostly a novelty.
I think they're dumb, but to each their own.
>>32937703
I agree theyre mostly fun plinkers. My cousin loves his MP5 clone, and I did too so I ordered one. I think the STG clone will be next for me.
Is this good trigger discipline?
>>32937361
Yes, now get some cheeseburger discipline and you'll be all set.
>>32937361
more like nigger discipline
>>32937361

So it's a 7.62x51 Enfield? Go for it. That's a decent deal.
AR General: No More Frogs Edition

Digits confirm that this is the real /ARG/. Tripfags BTFO.
>>32937023
tripfags come and go. only anonymous lives forever
Retarded Pepes absolutely not allowed, super serious edition.
Old: >>32934674

do i ever
Do you see this? Do you see this right here? Go grab your AR and look on the left side. Does it have a picture of a colt horse engraved in it? Does it have the most important 4-letter word in America, "COLT", right next to it?
Then I'm afraid I've got some bad news. You see, you wasted your money on a crappy AR made by some fly by night company that has absolutely no history. That has absolutely no heritage. That absolutely nobody outside of your hipster friends even knows about, and even if they did they wouldn't buy it because they'd be smart enough to realize there's no good reason to buy an AR from any other company besides COLT.
Because when you buy COLT, you buy quality. People like to bitch and moan and claim you're "paying extra for the pony". You're damn shitting right we are. We're paying extra for a high quality no-bullshit meant-to-be-used-and-abused-and-still-work (not kept in a safe so you can show it off to your internet "friends") product made by a high quality no-bullshit company that's been making guns in this country for CENTURIES. Not a couple of years. Not a decade. FOR ONE HUNDRED SIXTY MOTHER FUCKING YEARS. People buy AKs because of their "history"? All I can say is LOL.
Anyway, COLT owners feel free to post ITT. Non-COLT owners stay the fuck out.

MUH FEELS HAVE'N
>>32936896
Why has this left /co/? Take it back.
>>32936896
MEME FORCIN'
So... Why is it called... the AK?
>>32936796
because it goes AK AK AK AK AK AK AK AK AK when you shoot it
>>32936796
Awesome Killer
Because in Russian its called Avtomat Kalashnikova.
WOULD YOU /k/???
>>32936786
Yeah. Due to the powder burning outside the barrels, due to lack of any barrels, there would be hardly any recoil.
Now fuck off back to /b/.
>>32936786
Nothing would happen other than fuckloads of lead shot rolling all over the floor
>>32936786
Yes, there's nothing inherently dangerous about that configuration. It would just be rather useless and wholey inconvinient to opperate.
Hey /k/ I borrowed a piece of shit rifle that continuously jams. Is it safe to spray some WD-40 down the barrel or would that fuck it up?
>>32936766
It's safe but WD-40 is a shit lubricant for guns, git yourself some ballistol.
>>32936766
it will melt the barrel
>>32936806
No it won't. It drys in seconds, is non abrasive or full of chemicals , and is a half decent lubricant.
As far as helping, who knows. It won't really hurt unless you go crazy, but it won't gum up Springs or eat seals.
Do you think that if you put handles on the ends of an iPhone charging cable, you could use it as a garrote? I doubt it, if it can break magically without anyone touching it, it would probably not survive being wrapped round someone's neck.
piano wire.
/thread
if you strip the rubber off the cable MAYBE
>>32936663
You fucking dumbass are you trying to get "phone charging cords" banned?
Why does the AK have its legendary status as the terrorist/ freedom-fighting/ always-reliable/ rugged-as-the-sun assault rifle?
Have to justify constantly losing to factions that use them somehow.
>>32936466
A lot of them were made so they're cheap and thus irregular forces can afford them. They'll also buy anything else cheap, like FALs and G3s that were also made in the millions and became popular with irregular forces after they were being replaced in conventional armies.
>>32936466
it's CHEAP
Hope you /k/ombatants don't get too mad at me because this is loosely "military tech" but still feels appropriate for the board.
Let's talk MRE.
Are they a good value for disaster prep?
What are the best to look for; military, HDR, or 3rd party?
Shelf life?
Nutrition?
What country makes the "tastiest "?
Personally, I am looking to buy a few cases for absolute worse scenario where my usual pantry runs dry.
>>32936389
Shelf life is 5 years. Then you just need to inspect them. Keep them in a cool, dry 40-60 degree area. A five year old MRE in these conditions will taste like new.
Clearly Steve on YouTube has shown us all a 7-10 year old MRE is typically gtg. Not my first choice but...Hey, it's good. I eat mine on the five year limit so I have an excuse to buy more.
I get fresh military cases from time to time from guys I know in the service. They ship cases of MREs to them. Otherwise I buy surepak that use the same components with a clear outer package. I think they are more balanced than say a freeze dried meal. Bottled water or a filter with canteen is gtg with them.
>>32936389
>Let's talk MRE.
>Are they a good value for disaster prep?
As much as any other preserved food. Better for hiking or something since they're designed to be light.
>What are the best to look for; military, HDR, or 3rd party?
A friend in the military. If not, probably eBay, just watch out for fakes.
>Shelf life?
Around 5 years depending on storage conditions according to the military. There are youtube videos with people eating older MREs with no side effects.
>Nutrition?
Made for someone who is physically active, not a lardass camping in his bunker.
>What country makes the "tastiest "?
The US is the only country that makes MREs, other countrys have different names for theirs and they're always all going to be more expensive than an MRE due to shipping.
>>32936453
I know the "shelf life "is 5 years, but have also watched youtube videos of guys eating 25+ year old rations. Will they make you sick, or just taste stale? Again, In a worse case scenario I can deal with gross food, but food poisoning is absolutely out of the question.
How do you stipple and cerakote polymer?
Do you have to stipple first and mask it off before painting? I'd imagine heating through the cerakote would fuck it up and cause it to chip from heating the plastic under it.
please don't stipple your glock
it's going to look like shit
>>32936125
Gotta make sure that GLOCKā¢ logo is accented. Very tactical.
>>32936125
Just get a different frame rather than the sub-standard Glock one
