I have a friend who's selling a .22lr revolver and
I'm curious if there are any advantages, disadvantages,or serious opinions about them.
>>33062306
No possibility of rimlock compared to an automatic .22lr pistol. You can shoot different .22lr loads without having to worry about putting the right recoil spring in.
I have never had a .22 revolver fail to fire. Even with the worst ammo.
>>33062332
Didn't even think of that, I have a 10/22 that jams like it's full of chewing gum
Do you think if people knew more about guns and how they operated/discipline, they'd be less afraid of them?
>>33062057
Certain people yes. Other people no because they have a specific agenda against guns.
Yes.
I used to, as a kid, be wholly afraid of guns. My father kept guns in the house, but wasn't an ardent 2nd amendment supporter or shooter. I was taught in school that you should never touch a gun, and basically that it can go off at any second for any reason.
When my dad taught me how to shoot, which took a great deal of coaxing, it shattered that fear. And then it sparked a lifelong addiction. I was ten, and by 14 I had literature on gunsmithing, small arms manufacturing and development, and marksmanship.
Seriously, a huge amount of people.aged 18-40 who are scared of or opposed to guns literally have no idea how they work and no experience with them, and sometimes just teaching them to shoot is enough to sway them.
Yes
>Be canuck
>Didn't like guns
>Friend took me shooting
>Went out and got my license because it was fun
>Parents didn't like guns
>Take them shooting
>They like guns now
Also go watch that video about liberals shooting guns for the first time, just look at some of the girls there with that huge grin on their face after shooting a shotgun, most of them at least had an appreciation of guns and a few of them went out and bought guns.
Hey /k/
Forgive me, I just became a gun owner today. Don't know too much about guns, but I bought this today at a pawn shop for $900. Guy selling it said it was some kind of Russian AK rifle, and that it had been sitting in the back for a long time. Looks pretty cool?
What's it worth /k/? what should I do?
Pic related.

Bullshit
>>33061908
Nice hi point, you got trolled
>>33061934
Fpbp
Why don't we have these guys anymore?
Also how badass were they? Motherfuckers running around spewing fire at people, from close range and all.
Takes a lot of balls.
>>33061874
Obsolete when you can spew fire at people from long range.
>>33061874
Because now we can launch a 40mm white phosphorous grenade through a window 120 yards away and burn the whole fucking building down with enough ammo left over to do it again 30 more times.

>can get lee einfeld, nugget, or mauser for relatively cheap
>Garand costs you an arm and a leg
explain
>>33061556
There's more metal, nostalgia, more parts, semi-automatic. Just to name a few.
America fuck yea
Also nobody wants to part with their garands because they're probably heirlooms.
>>33061588
So then why did bongs, krauts, and russians part with their rifles for so cheap? That's what I don't get
I have an AR-15 that I got before the election but I have looking to expand cheaply.
Anyone have a good idea where to start?
>>33061210
Kill yourself before the enemy can. Then you won't have to worry about defending yourself.
>>33061282
I hope tyrone rapes you first
>>33061312
Yeah, you NEED to go back friendo

I'm about to ETS in a week or two and I am filled with heartbreak.
Any other milfagsl just really disappointed with the level of training you received?
All of the correspondence and JKO classes, all of the field problems, field manuals, all of it... There was so little I learned in the Army that I didn't have to dig up myself. NCOs rarely know shit about actual soldiering skills.
Im starting to feel that all of this was a joke.
>>33061182
I was medically retired in 2012. The best advice I can give you is that the military can define you or be a small bullet on your advancing resume. The GI Bill paired with leadership experience can really give you a strong civilian foundation. After leaving the military I quickly earned an AS, BA, and MA and locked down some pretty solid employment opportunities.
Go to school, retain the positive aspects of the military, and make something of yourself.
Good luck my man.
>>33061182
What were you expecting to come out with the knowledge of Delta Force operative?
>>33061182
congrats you now know why most of us the past couple years got out.
now come join us, weve got lawn chairs, beer, and burgers. come watch the army burn its self to the ground.
Barrel length doesn't seem like nearly as much of a problem for concealed carry as grip length, since it's the butt of the grip that causes the majority of printing. So how come you don't see more guns set up like pic related with longer barrels but compact grips? Seems like it would improve accuracy and recoil control.
>>33060797
because its uncomfortable as shit to shoot since you cant get a good grip on the thing. if you are going to give a bunch of shit to make the gun smaller you want it to be small
Because nerds want to try about "muh balance" since they hold their guns more than they actually shoot them.
This is a pretty good question considering a lot of the shorter guns such as the Shield/G43 benefit from having a longer holster.
>>33060836
How is it harder to get a grip on the exact same pistol just because it has a longer barrel?
Does anyone know anything about norinco M305? M14 made in china. Is it good and worth the price?
It's tempting.
>Chinese guns
>ever
The M305 is very, very rough compared to even a Springfield M1A. It's just cheap.
>>33060763
Hey, Canada.
>>33060763
>made in China
no. and furthermore, how could you have the lack of common human decency to buy an American designed weapon made anywhere but America?
It's like buying a Brazilian or Philippine made 1911
Joining the British Army. I want to go for the Paras but I'm not really sure on what the actual application process is like. Would be good to hear from anyone with past experience in the Paras. I know that you have to do PRAC but what else is there? The website isn't very clear on the different things you need to do.

ARRSE?

Can't use Google. Hmm looks like you failed your entrance exam. Sorry, better luck next time.
I know, I know, ATF go home, but REEEEing aside what kind of hoops does one have to go through to acquire an actual imported RPG-7?
Would I basically have to be an FFL to own one?
Enlighten me, /k/omrades.
>>33060551
>>33060551
It's a destructive device. Same with any ammunition that isn't inert dummy rounds. Fill out a form, send to ATF with $200, wait 9+ months. Provided you even find one for sale.
>>33060551
Provide me with all of your ITAR and export documentation. Place an order with my company and we'll fire up the machines.
As a straight up civvie try this :>>33060814
Or go buy one in Iraq, Syria, Somalia or whatever your third world shit hole du jour is. Just don't try to fly home with it.
Fellow /k/ommandos. I need your help. A pro-fun friend studying on an university of defence needs some citable sources/papers/manuals on differentiating the sound of a gunshot from a firecracker. He's writing a paper on some semi-bullcrap theme like "protection of soft targets on a budget" or something. Reasoning being that supposedly, if there is a guard on some public meeting, on school grounds and the like, and a gun fires, security doesn't recognise it as a gunshot and waves it off as a firecracker.
Now, while I, and few others, have agreed on that an unsuppressed gunshot is discernable from some fun pyrotechnics, he needs a citable source. I'd be glad for help and suppose this is an okay topic to talk about.
>>33060258
protip:
this image will scare away actual replies
>>33060258
I'll wait for an English translation before trying to answer the question
>>33060258
I honestly don't think there's any sort of academically valid, citeable source on this in existence. Gunshots are simply sharper and louder in general, more like fireworks than firecrackers, but that's it. The best way to do it would be to hear them yourself, but I suppose that's hardly valid as a source.
Looking to get a Browning Hi Power aka "hand fedora".
Is there anything I should know about the current production mk3 versions? The prices for the new ones are about the same as the older ones in my area (not to mention I'm bound by a handgun roster nobody can consistently interpret), and they all cosmetically look the same to me.
When I get mine I intend on putting on wood grips if it doesn't already have one and replacing the spur hammer with a ring hammer.
Also why does /k/ hate the browning hi power so much?
>>33060100
People on /k/ will hate on anything. A lot of guys here still love the though. If they weren't good guns it wouldn't be so popular and the design wouldn't be in production for so long.
>>33060100
>Is there anything I should know about the current production mk3 versions?
The MK3 has a straight feed ramp, which is a change from the original and Mk2 humped feedback. From what I understand, this allows to to feed flat-nosed and hollowpint rounds much more reliably than the originals. As far as I know, that's the biggest change. If you plan on using it for more than a range toy, grab the MK3
>>33061118
>humped feed ramp, fucking autocorrect
/k/, can you recommend some documents/manuals regarding sabotage and reconnaissance?
