/k/ I've been wanting a gun of my own for a while now, and I'm not sure what to get. Any suggestions for a good first gun? Preferably one that's not expensive and fun to shoot.
don't worry, we don't need any info like your location, price range, what you would use it for, if you want it to be a pistol or a rifle, or anything else. i'm also so glad you didn't check the archive for this exact post we have every day, or maybe even lurk for a while to pick up info.

>>33304840
500rds fuck no. Half a dozen maybe. I use something like that to do failer drills with my rifle. Load up 2 mags with some mixed in a week before I go to the range and then make sure I respond correctly when it fails to fire
I want a big box of it just for shits and giggles, but it's unobtainium in California.
If you get a training bolt to go with it.

Why cant 82% of /k/ use iron sights?
I realize the appeal of fancy optics but you should also be able to use irons.

because irons take time and ammunition to learn and 82% of /k/ s poor. that being said, .22lr is cheap and there are plenty of iron sight .22 to learn on.
Why were push-pull designs so rare? It seems like a really good way to make a two-engine interceptor?

But why didn't people play around with it in the 1930s when Germany was developing the BF-110, the US the P-38 etc
How come the germans were the only country that used pattern camo widely through WW2, with them starting to use it quite a lot even in WW1?
>>33304173
Because for better or worse, the Germans tried to make up for their inherent disadvantages in manpower and industry through innovation and quality.
> only country that used pattern camo widely through WW2
This is not really true. Other than SS or Fallschrimjaeger units, most German soldiers just wore field gray. And the US equipped their marines with camo in the pacific.
>>33304173
Camouflage patterns used to be substantially more difficult and expensive to produce. Take a popular wartime Allied camo textile, the British Denison Smock. This jacket was simply hand painted with dyes before being issued. The process was long and laborious. The Germans simply valued and invested a lot more time into camo patterns (though they were far from the norm).

A "fudd" is someone for who guns are a means to an end rather than an autistic end unto themselves?
Obama really was the best gun salesman in American history - gun sales have declined so much in the months since the election that Remington just had to lay off 120 workers.
So... good deals coming? I hope?

>that S&W slide
Thank God I sold my stock before Trump got elected.
Anyway, I don't feel bad for these companies.
1. They knew Obama's term was coming to an end.
2. If they put their faith in Hillary winning, then they are un-American and deserve everything that happens to them.
Also, we always see post-Christmas retail dips. You get a few bumps for tax season but with Trump in, more people are probably saving their money or using it to buy accessories/ammo instead of more guns. But what happened is they made a boatload of guns and now supply exceeds demand. I'd bet that those 120 workers probably didn't work for Remington before Obama took office, and those jobs will likely return if an anti-gun Dem wins in 2020 or 2024.
Also, FWIW, Remington still mostly sells hunting firearms and we are out of primary hunting season now.
> remington anything
I'm not surprised, I think remington are laying off workers and shitting their selves into bankruptcy because of how shitty their guns are ever since freedom group took over. I hope freedom group sells off remington and marlin to some company that can fix their guns back to normal.
>>33303480
I figured Remington would be laying off people because they make shitty guns nobody wants to buy. Weird.
Don't worry, the NRA is working on their newest scare tactics to push panic buys. Look at LaPierre's speech at CPAC which was basically a new Red Scare to get the right to buy guns because "violent libruls" are going to form left wing death squads and start shooting any registered (R) down in the streets.

So I was wondering /k/, how effective would a chainmail shirt be for modern day use? I doubt it could stop a bullet but statistically I am more at risk to be mugged with a knife then a gun. Would chainmail save my life? If this is the case where should I buy it? How much should I spend?

>>33303128
Chainmail sometimes stops arrows, so it will not stop basically any bullets.
It's heavy, bulky and loud - literally everyone would know you were wearing fucking chainmail.
Decent chainmail is going to be expensive, and cheap chain mail will not even stop knives.
Do something else.
Heavy as fuck.
