SAMs vary in size massively. The USSR designed several large SAMs with long range and high altitude capability. Example dimensions:

S-75 (SA-2): 10.6 m long 0.7 m diameter

S-200D (SA-5): 10.8 m long, 0.86 m diameter

S-300 (SA-10) 48N6E2: 7.5 m long, 0.5 m diameter

Syria has had the first two SAMs in its inventory for a long time, while it is hard to get a sense of scale in that photograph, a missile like the S-200D (with fins lost) is around the right size. It is claimed that Russia is going to transfer ownership of some of the S-300 systems it has deployed in Syria (though this has not yet happened).
