If you had to join a fictional military, which would it be?
Would you enlist or try to join as an officer (if that's possible, I know it's not for the Mobile Infantry)?
What MOS? Power armored marine, railgunner's mate, antimatter machinist's mate, etc?
Let's hear it!
I think you already know what this thread is going to turn into
>>33389902
Eeh, not necessarily.
40k might be too hardcore for some. I'd go for the Martian Navy from the Expanse myself.
Starfleet could be great... or it could be shit depending on your shirt color, MOS, and rank.
Even within 40k, I'd much prefer being an Imperial Navy officer to being a Space Marine.
>comfy quarters
>lots of time for study and praise of the emperor during warp transit
>decent weaponry
>relatively low chance of being mind/butt/other raped by unknowable horrors
>still get to contribute to killing xenos, heretics, and all other threats
It's not a bad deal.

i had a dream that i was in a sky scraper and i killed two people by shooting them, then throwing them off the stairs. i then ran up the stairs to the 70th floor where there was a fancy party. I was gonna jump, i think i had a parachute, but i met this hot girl and we started talking and hitting it off.
I don't remember anything after that.
what does that dream represent?

Any interest in a /k/ keychain?
>I have NEET's blessing for this
We've all grown up in the mass media age watching action movies or TV shows, and I'm sure all of us have guns that we saw back when we were kids (or even more recently) that we wanted back then and now actually have the chance to buy. We may have them now, or maybe not yet, but I wonder: Which of them have you always wanted, what movie or TV show were they from, and which character carried them?
I grew up in the 80s, so:
Mini-14 with folding paratrooper stock (The A-Team)
Stainless finish Bren Ten (Sonny Crockett on Miami Vice)
S&W Model 29 (Dirty Harry)
Ithaca Model 37 Stakeout (Sgt. Anderson in Tour of Duty)
Browning Hi-Power (Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop)
Beretta 92F (John McClane in Die Hard)
So far all I have is the Mini-14 (still working on finding a folding stock for it), but I'll get all the others pone of these days.
So what are yours? And don't feel constrained to the 80s - any era is good.
My incredibly useless but neat 80's gats, complete with shoulder things that go up.
simple for me Colt MK IV Series 70 Government Model form Way of the Gun

I bought my M45A1 to honor those who served.
All gave some
Some gave all.
Just remember who fought for your freedom to disrespect that.
Something weird happened with an old surplus canteen cup that I bought recently, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue:
>Just bought a real US issued stainless steel canteen cup from local surplus store, early 90s production date
>On the way home from buying it hands begin to slightly swell up from a minor allergic reaction
>Have never had a reaction like that from metal before, or anything else really
>Go ahead and wash it thoroughly in hot water to see if there were surface contaminants
>Cup has a strong odor of pennies and a sharp metallic odor when exposed to hot water, but the smell dissipates after rinsing
>Somewhat worried to try the thing and have my windpipe close on me
Did they spray these things with something that would have caused this, or is this just some sort of freak occurrence?
>>33384818
The person who turned it back in was a skinwalker.
>>33384818
Rinse it really, really well with water and acetone (separately) to be double sure. Obviously you'd know by this point in your life if your skin had a reaction to stainless steel, but it sounds like it was covered in a strong acid or other really nasty chemical before sale. I'd contact the seller also and warn him about what happened. Get him to offer a refund and an apology.

Are you sure it is stainless steel and not plated with something corrosion resistant?
