What's the point of a .223 bolt action? It seems to me to fit a very specific niche where you can't really take game bigger than a pig or coyote while anything smaller can probably be dispatched with .22LR.
.308 is better for shooting at longer distances, and semi-auto .223 rifles are better for defense, are pretty accurate, and aren't all that more expensive.
Can someone tell me what the point is?

Properly constructed hunting ammo can take down whitetail just fine. The mild recoil and extremely cheap ammo is also great for teaching a new shooter the fundamentals of shooting.

I have a West German Sig P6 I could give her, it's usually the gun I train new shooters on, or I could use this as an excuse to buy a new gun, maybe p225-A1 or p239? I'm not a poorfag, so let me know what you recommend for a single old(er) lady looking for a home/range piece.

So I grabbed an old hex receiver nugget a while back, and even after deep cleaning, boiling, decosmolining, etc it still had the worst fucking sticky bolt I'd ever seen. It was basically a single shot rifle, because you'd then have to beat the bolt open with a rubber mallet.
I took a 20GA bore brush and some sand paper and some metal polish and went the hell to work on it. I polished the bolt and worked it repeatedly, very gently sanded down the edges of the bolt face and the extractor where any sharp edges might lay, and polished+bore brushed the chamber.
Now my mosin only has like a... 30% sticky bolt. With enough hard work, it will cycle brass cased ammo just fine, steel case is still a no go.
When I shut my bolt over a round, it sort of hiccups as if having issues fitting the extractor over the round, or fitting the round onto the bolt face properly. Some random online pages tell about bent extractors, but mine doesn't look bent. Any ideas?
Also, how safe is it to further polish the chamber of my mosin? I don't want to overpolish or wear down the chamber too much, no idea what would happen then.

I had really bad sticky bolt the first time I shot mine, and then no problems since. I think my issue was some cosmoline left over in the receiver that would mix with the heated lacquer coated steel casings and they'd get stuck.
Check the coatings if you use lacquer.

I've tried both, neither makes a difference. I've scrubbed, boiled, wiped, etc the entire rifle. There's not a speck of cosmoline left anywhere, I'm 100% sure of that

Alright, I'm not shilling, promise. I assume the fellow who left the recent review on Amazon, who is verified to have purchased a paperback of pic-related, is one of the guys on /k/ who got bought it, I think during my first promotion on March 14-16. Wanted me to get in contact with him but I don't know how, hopefully he'll spot this. If he sent an email to the typical email I use when contacting people under my pseudonym of J N Morgan, then I can't currently get to that email due to reasons. Hopefully he'll see this thread so we can talk about it in some manner.
Seems like the issue was mostly the sex scene, and believing it wasn't a part of the story. Stopped reading at the end of Chapter 2. Also that the female character was brought into the mix too quickly though personally I don't think that to be the case. Anyways, hoping to discuss the matter, and I hope to hear from him soon. I'll try to get access to my email account; maybe he sent me something there.

Thanks, hopefully I manage to get his attention somehow. I've got that email I use on my website and I think I also have it on my Amazon page itself so it would have been really convenient if he emailed me.
