Because you can't discuss your reasoning when the conversation is being drowned in hundreds of carefully crafted pictures that no one bothers to look at. Present one or two of your decisions only.
I'll start: I like softshell functionality for a general cool/wet weather jacket, but I also like pocket space. Where can I find something like a softshell smock/parka?

So why have no gun companies thought to make a modern take on the LeMat?
>>33506640
Because it would be retarded and expensive.
>>33506645
So were you growing up and yet here you are.
Even the BP repros are damn near a grand.
Can /k/ help me identify this gun and its ammo? I found it in a box of guns. Found out what the rest were, but couldn't find any info on this.
>>33506481
The round for it next to a .38 shell for reference.

Hello /k/.
I've been reading a lot of Skinwalker threads recently and I've noticed an unsettling amount of them take place near/in michigan. I'm going to Isle Royale National Park and Voyageurs National Park over the summer and was wondering what I should look out for (and what I should bring in defense), seeing as these locations are near many sightings and are rather remote.
I haven't completely bought into Skinwalker lore yet, but I'd like to know if there's been any spooky shit up there recently.
Honestly, I'm not sure of any "spooky" shit up in that area. But hey, it's been 10 years, so keep your head on a swivel and stay armed and with a partner at all times.

bumping because skinwalker thread
>be me
>vacation to northern michigan
>campin with friends
>third night
>wake up for no reason, have that feeling something is watching
>look outside tent and see something move in bushes
>figure its deer or some shit
>go back to sleep
>wake up next morning, camp trashed
>fucking everything is strewn about
>big ass claw marks in nearby tree
Needless to say we got the fuck out of there. Never found out what it was but it wasn't a bear or anything. Those were the biggest claw marks I'd seen in my entire life. This was a few years back, haven't been back since.
Sorry for anticlimactic story, there wasn't that much to tell and I'm a shitty story teller.

>>33529171
3 shots, 3 kills. Good shit lad.
Here's a thread I don't think I've ever seen on /k/. What are some guns with magazines that aren't in the 6 o'clock position? Bonus points for anything other than vertical or horizontal.
>>33506106
Anything using a pulley or recoil mitigation system usually ends up with freaky mag placement.
Some czech guns from the early autoloading days had this as i recall.
What do you think of .40 S&W?
>>33529048
10mm is better
>>33529048
It's overpriced. That's the only problem I have with it.
>>33529048
For some reason, I find the slow, steady decline of the 40 S&W humorous.

House broken into, they stole my old gun. what gun do you suggest for home defence? im trying to keep it moderately cheap.
Budget?
>>33506034
Remind your intruder you were on a budget when he breaks in and your shit jams up, maybe he'll sympathize with you.
In all seriousness the only handgun I own that I shoot cost me $300 and I haven't had a single failure in 3,000 or so rounds.
Ok well what would you suggest then?
Hello /k/
german anon here.
As you may guess I am concered about my safety and the safety of my loved ones.
I would like to purchase a knife for self defense.
German law allowes carrying of up to 12cm/4.7inches fixed blades and unregulated folders.
The folder must be opened with 2 hands OR it shouldnt snap in place automaticly.
I am ready to spend up to 50€/53$
Knifes can be bought on the internet quite easily here.
Any suggestions?

Beat them with their own weapons.
In terms of shotgun design, would a side-loaded magazine similar to what you see on a Sterling SMG?
And I don't mean "practical" or "intelligent", I just mean "functional". Like how would it affect shells (ideally brass cased) feeding since obviously this design was typically used on much smaller ammunition?
It's possible. Practical? Hardly.
Basically open bolt full brass .410 and call it a day.
>>33505971
It's really only been used on rifles/SMGs as a result of early people not knowing that going prone is nowhere near as used as simply diving for cover.
This they put mags on the side to make things easier in prone, thinking "fuck off hand shooting" and throwing any sense they had out the window.
>>33505971
Yeah you could do it but if it wasn't full brass and you didn't nave the strongest springs on gods green earth you'd kill youtself from all the feeding issues
So when is the hearing protection act finally going to get any action? People kept telling me that it would get passed before February was over, yet it hasn't made it any further than the previous versions and in a couple days it will have been 2 months since it last got any action.
never the nra doesnt want to loose money and they dont care about gun rights.

All those people that thought it was going to fly through congress never saw that episode of school house rock as children, and are not to be trusted.
>>33505842
I kind of figured that the NRA didn't give a shit when LaPierre responded to Trump becoming president by giving a speech about how the liberals are still out to get everyone so buy more guns and how NRA members need to back whatever Trump does whether it's related to guns or not, instead of talking about pro-gun legislation to pass.
>>33505854
Those people seem like a good portion of the board, or at least most of the people who vocally support the HPA.
I think he's a pretty respectable guy with what seems to be plenty of knowledge on weapons. Why do you guys hate him?
>>33528338
>Someone in another thread said something negative about my fantasy boyfriend so the /k/ hivemind must hate him!
He seems pretty knowledgeable about medieval weaponry, but I can't get over how pretentious he seems. He's got the whole wannabe viking beard, the fauxhawk, the edgy taste in clothing...

Motherfucker, you CC a modern "scary" pistol.
I collect fucking relics.
WHY THE HELL AM I THE ONE ACCUSED OF BEING THE NUTJOB EVEN THOUGH I'M SOCIAL AND ONLY ENJOY OLD SHIT??!?!?!?!?!?!
This fucker owns an AR.
I should know: I had to help him with it being jammed so damn hard it wouldn't let the bolt retract.
I've helped him run pistol drills.
Yeah I have an AK.
I have a pistol or two.
But fuck man, I have seven bolt actions, and not one of them was made past 1953.
I don't even hunt.
>>33505771
He's not concerned about your guns, he's concerned about you flying off the handle and escalating minor disputes into heated arguments. He knows you're going to draw down on someone one day over an argument about someone stealing your waifu.
'Sup /k/.
I'm working on a single shot firearm design and, while the trigger mechanism used by most single-shot firearms is quite simple, the notches in the hammer where the sear rests when in full or half-cock aren't features well suited to milling. Are you guys familiar with any interesting designs that are better suited for that manufacturing method? I'm not opposed to using a striker, either, as long as it's robust, safe and doesn't require EDM, waterjet or something.
a moded orion flaregun flare gun
>>33505578
Okay I see how it works.
Cool I like it. One thing I would do is make the barrel interchangeable so you could switch it out with 9mm or whatever.
Got to thinking about selling extension to really make the money.
>>33505578
Pretty cool design desu. You should try to patent that.
