Magazine has a spring inside of it that is designed to feed cartridges into the firearm. Usually are in a box or a drum configuration.

A clip is a general sheet tab used to contain cartridges by themselves. Most common clips are stripper clips which are used to hold cartridges together to feed into a rifle's fixed magazine. There is an exception with the Enbloc clip, which holds the cartridges together in a clam style tab to assist with feeding certain weapon systems (notably the M1 Garand's).

Both are often used interchangeably in the similar sense that someone who's not familiar with computers mixes RAM and ROM memory. While they have the similar values and generally work for computers, people say them interchangeably.

TL;DR
Magazines are spring powered, clips aren't. People usually use them interchangeably cause they either don't know or are too deep into the dumb to change their glossary.

That would be accurate if you're talking the south. Up north everyone is highly strung and has a chip on their shoulder about all sorts of shit and then there's Auckland which may as well be its own country. Gun laws are great, not American level and self defense basically doesn't exist, but the best you can hope for generally speaking. Suppressors are unregulated and with the right license you can have p much anything you want.

I can only tell you about the AUG, as former australian military fag.

Id go with the AR to be honest. Its a more complete platform. The AUG is a fun weapon to shoot, but its main strength is its handiness with a full length barrel.

Civilian AUG owner here, the AR is going to have so many more options for customization compared to the AUG, not to mention the magazines for the thing are proprietary, unless you get the NATO stock. 20" AUG is pure sex though, and the barrel change takes literally like 5 seconds

If it's just going to be a derp rifle go with whatever you think is cooler.
An Aug is definitely cooler though. 20" ARs are available whenever you want one. Unless you hilariously overspend you can just sell it whenever and buy an AR if you hate it. Try it before you buy it if you can even if you have to pay for ammo. It's kind of a subjective decision, no?
