My father is an idiot and cleans all of his gun bolts and handgun slides using a steel wool pot brush, water, and dish soap. How do I explain to him without hurting his feelings that he's a retard?
>>33743867
Nothing, just laugh at him when his shit rusts. He's a grown up.
>>33743867
Just accept it as an endearing quirk of your old man, and maybe just rib him a bit about it if you see him do it. Cherish your quality time with him
Buy him a cleaning kit as a present and dont be a faggot about the situation.
Your thoughts /k/?
its an acceptable stock.

I've been looking to get the Henry Big Boy Steel rifle but I prefer the loading gate over the tube magazine, is there a rifle out there similar in design to the Henry with a loading gate or should I just get over it and get the Henry?
Today, stripped this for second time after paint failure.
It is now freshly sanded. Do I need to oil it if I let it sit for a day?
Will the imperfections in the metal be an issue with bluing?
>>33743579
Typically you oil it after the bluing process. Right now you want to make sure that theres no oil on it, gun oil or oil form your greasy fingers.
>>33743599
I sanded it with gloves on.
It's dry now, just wasn't sure if it's a good idea to let it sit exposed until I can sand it more.
I want to just use the bluing paste they sell. I'm traveling hotel to hotel right now and paint was a huge fail.
OP it looks like this is your first rodeo with bluing and sanding.
If you want the bluing to at least look even, get a glass bowl that you can fit your gun parts in, put your gun in there and fill it with acetone. It won't rust, and it'll remove ANYTHING from the gun that could mess with the blue. When you get ready to blue tomorrow, dry the gun carefully, by then it'll be clean and free of anything that could fuck your blue.
I managed to red pill my libtard sister about funs and now she wants to get one and cc it. Pic related is her frontrunner choice. What does /k/ think because I've never heard of it.
>>33743527
With that gun, the Sccy's the limit. Hue hue.
>>33743527
Honestly, SCCY isn't that great of a brand, it is a few steps up from taurus.
If she wants a small pink gun, get a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard if price of ammo isn't an issue. Alternatively, spend a little extra and get a Ruger LC9S
>>33743527
It's reliable, but definitely not the easiest thing to shoot and reload fast. If she really wants something pink get her a G26 and cerakote it pink
Just moved to the people's republic of Illinois. No where near Chicago. I've got firearms laws sorted out, but fuck me if none of my pocket-knives are below the 3" blade law.
Any good but budget-friendly suggestions? I'm looking for a sturdy folder with good edge retention. Also it's good to see you again /k/omrades.
>>33743450
Literally any pocket folder for under $30 and you're set.
Cold Steel gets a lot of shit for making some mall ninja-tier memeknives, but they also make some good-quality practical folders in a large range of sizes. The Mini Recon 1 is a really nice one, with a blade length of 3 inches on the nose, and goes for about $80-90 retail. I'd say that's a good option.
>>33743565
I don't call 80-90 USD budget, especially when I'm being state-law constrained.
>>33743549
As I cook I can honestly say that steel varies so heavily on the heat treatment. Two blades out of the same line don't come out the same thanks to cost-cutting.
Who are some other good Youtubers besides Hickok45 and his son? I just watched some James Yeager videos and they gave me terminal cancer.

It's not the prettiest but who cares as long as it's a shooter.
>>33743278
What's wrong with a carbine gas system on a 16"?
I just impulse bought this, how much did I fuck up /k/?
Also recent acquisition thread?

How exactly did this happen where more RN vessels were damaged or sunk?
>>33742984
RN task force didn't lose its most important ships, and the Argentine navy withdrew after losing the belgrano out of fear of RN submarines, the RN had sufficient ships available to soak up the losses and was able to keep its operational plan more or less the same despite the damage
The Argentine navy lost its single most important ship and the linchpin of its naval strategy, and because of that and the psychological effect of losing its most prestigious vessel withdrew, all British ship losses were caused by air attack
>>33743075
I suppose my question is moreso - Did the RN/AF not seek out the Argentine fleet or were the Argentinians simply staying back for the majority of hostilities?
It just doesn't seem right for such a vastly superior force to suffer so much more casualties.
>>33743128
The Belgrano was the first ship sunk, after that was over all of the Argentine ships save hospital vessels which can't be targeted under the laws of war withdrew from the operational area, because of that, it wouldn't make sense tactically or logistically for the British to attempt to attack them, as they no longer constituted a threat (Argentine aircraft were operating off the mainland, not off the fleet) , so they didn't
The British fleet could not withdraw as they were where the assault on the Islands were being launched from, and the combination of having to stay within the Argentine air force's operating bubble in order to support the attack, a few bad calls and some very good flying by the Argentine's resulted in the disproportionate amount of damage done
If the Argentines had kept their Armada engaged they would have been slaughtered due to the tonnage advantage going to the RN and the Argentines not being able to respond efficiently without their flagship
Just how fucked are we?
>On April 18th thru May 5th, 2017, state, local, and federal organizations alike are planning for Operation Gotham Shield 2017 - a major nuclear detonation drill in the New York-New Jersey area, along with the U.S.-Canadian border.
>During this exercise, 4 nuclear devices, 2 of which are rendered “safe” during the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Vital Archer Exercise, and one successful 10kt detonation in the NYC/NJ area, along with one smaller detonation on the U.S./Canadian border are to take place.

>Exclusive: H&K Semi-Automatic HK SP5k (MP5K) and HK SC5SD (MP5SD)
Because you suck and we hate you confirmed? Chrissake, why is it so hard to just take THIS shit over here, and make it semi-auto?
All we ever goddamn wanted was a regular-ass semi-auto MP5, but this is what we get because we suck and they hate us.
What are you thoughts on this?
>>33742878
H&K was the only company to fight the 1989 import ban.

This article is almost 4 years old fagtard
>>33742886
and you notice Trump hasn't done shit for guns yet, besides Gorsuch.
Trump could EO away all of the import bullshit that isn't a russian sanction or a law. Just tell his ATF director that all guns are sporting purpose the way they are and don't need american parts or be classified as destructive devices.
