What goes on behind the scenes of deciding which guns are used in films? do big companies jew it out for which gun is the main sidearm? or does the production crew just scrounge for whatever they can find in commiefornia and call it a day?
I definitely feel that the last John Wick movie was the result of such a vulgar display of jewing.
I've noticed in general that Glocks are being featured much more in films. Back in the 90s and early 00s they were pretty much only used by gangstas and extras in movies, despite being literally everywhere in real life. I never thought James Bond would be caught dead with one of these things but in the last two bond films he uses them quite often. In Skyfall all the british police had them (which I think is bullshit they use HKs right?) and there was a literal glock duel in the courtroom. Was this product placement?
It would make sense. Glock lost the military contract and will probably start losing some of the civillian market now that other companies are making cheaper, more ergonomic and more effective versions of their once virtually exclusive design. So it makes sense for them to shove their blocky golden boy into the hands of as many movie stars as possible. I can see how it works. I recently watched the Usual Suspects and was quite delighted to see the exact type of Browning Hi Power I have so heavily used in the film. Can't say I feel the same way about seeing glawks though despite owning two. They're still boring, mediocre pistols that run pretty well and are easy to use but aren't that pleasant to look at or shoot.

There's normally a meeting with the armourer and the production team, the armourer will lay out what kind of guns he would recommend and then they decide unless its something specific and a one off then it'll be created be the armorer and mould /prop makers. how do I now? Ive worked on many movies in the UK
So /K/ I am kinda interested in collecting old MidEvil Weapons. So does any on shave any advice on where to start, and maybe some where I can get some pretty decently priced and decently made replicas?
Your local mall should have a Spencer's, they're likely to have what you're looking for.
>>33776005
Kult of Athena is a good start.
They do have a lot of low quality junk though. So word of advice, if it's under 300$ make damn sure it's not a "non functional replica" or other trash.

Yes, if you google my name, some old guy who paints buffalo comes up. Every single job interview I have ever had involves them asking if I paint anything but buffalo.
I'm like that Michael Bolton character in Office Space, only somehow even more lame.

Since body armor is so readily available I'd like to consider types of ammo that is most effective against it.
I keep Hornaday Critical Defense 9mm in my handgun and usually Federal XM193 in my AR (16" barrel, 1:7 twist).
I'm mostly concerned with being able to defeat soft armor, but potentially cheaper (steel) rifle plates as well.
What brands and loads are going to be best suited for such a task at self defense ranges?
Is it retarded that I'd carry a tokarev just to have an edge against soft body armor? Also who are these guys? The guy on the left looks like a bowie fan
>>33794556
I had a Tok, couldn't shoot it for shit and mine only had half-cock for a safety.
The pic is ISOF-Iraqi Special Operations Forces or the "Golden Division". The only remotely effective organization in the official Iraqi Army.
Shoot them in the face
>The plaintiffs believe that the State’s ban violates their constitutional rights, including their fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms protected under the Second Amendment, because magazines are “an intrinsic part of all semi-automatic firearms” and “are not merely individual pieces of personal property, but rather, are intrinsic and inherent constitutionally-protected parts of constitutionally-protected firearms.”
So what are the chances this goes the wrong way and CA limits their mag capacity to 3 rounds?
>>33793485
any gun related lawsuits will go the wrong way in california. thats just how the libshit system will work. they will lose all the state cases and appeals, and it will get bumped up to the supreme court where we will win
If we don't win in California, we'll win in the conservative Supreme Court.
We will win regardless of what Californian courts say.

Hopefully, I just want that kike bitch Feinstein to watch her life work go down the toilet with one Supreme Court ruling after another

/k/ I have a hypothetical situation and I want advice
>Just get out of shower
>Feelsgood.png
>Towel off and get dressed
>BUT WAIT
>Can't forget to put some lotion on hands so they don't get dry
>Tactically Lotion Hands
>BOOM
>BOOM

>All of a sudden some ne'er-do-well hooligan has broken through your front door
>You go to grab your Glock™ brand Glock™ pistol
>can barely grip it
>Try to rack slide but your lubricated hands have betrayed you
>Get shot
>Hooligan absconds with valuables
How do you prevent this from happening? I can't just go with dry hands can I?
>>33792934
even if you didn't have lotion on your hands the gun would have discharged when you racked the slide
don't trust glocks
>>33792934
The sights on most modern handguns (at least service pistol sized ones) are made to be used to rack a slide on something hard with in a pinch.
As long as you can grip the firearm you should be fine.
Also, why no round in the chamber?
Israeli carry is for morons or people without dropsafe handguns.
>>33792934
Use the towel that's around your waist to rub the lotion off your hands, then grab removal device and defend the homestead.

seriously, every time something interesting happens 3-10 people think they're the very first to see it and post a thread about it, often even though there's a thread already up
yesterday there were two threads up for the new cod, it's fucking annoying
Can you convince me to get my conceal carry license?
So I meet girls sometimes.
If I carry a gun around, it could make things weird. It's been a while and all but when I meet them we tend to undress.
What if she's a democrat?
It sort of cuts down on my options.
>meet girl
>get naked
>pull out my gun
that sounds kind of rapey
>unload it?
clearly she's going to notice where the bullets and gun go so why even unload it? Should I just try to slip it past and kick it under the bed with my pants or something?
>>33792373
if you don't know how to handle that kind of situation then you don't deserve to get laid

>>33792583
no. it was not.
>>33792544
I have never posted this before. if people are having the same problems, then maybe Glock isn't the """perfection""" that you autists claim it is.
Why nobody makes current production of the Luger P.08 whereas everybody and their mother makes 1911? The gun was as popular, reliable, in a cartridge that is still used today, they are still iconic, what gives?
because nazi gun
>>33792379
The StG 44 was a nazi gun, yet HMG is making modern reproduction.
>>33792365
people did for the longest time.
Mitchell's Mausers.
However they never sold because they had to price them high due to production costs.
Now, you may be onto something with a modern production simplified toggle lock system, but a modern Luger would be too expensive to be worth a damn.
I accidentally fired a blank cartridge around one feet away from my ears after while i played around with my 9mm blank gun. The pistol was aimed to the left and not away from me.
Problem is that it fired in a closed room.
I could barely hear seconds after the shot and my ears are kind of numb now. Anyone knows if i have to expect irreperable hearing damage? Someone got similar experiences with shooting without ear protection?
