THEY'RE BAAACK
>Ardent battleship supporters have won another round; the Navy has reinstated two battleships—the Iowa (BB-61) and the Wisconsin (BB-64)—on the Naval Vessel Register (NVR), the official listing of ships owned by the Navy.

Can someone explain the difference between Force recon and MARSOC in the USMC to me??
>>33855223
Force Recon is like the Calvary Scout in the Army, but not retarded and way cooler as Force Recon usually scouts out landing sites, enemy command and control centers and then calls in air/naval gunfire. The Calvary Scout just rides around and thinks he's the successor to old style Calvary, while being Infantry. In short a delusional faggot.
>>33855223
Force recon was turned into raider battalions and the they made those into marsoc. There is still a force recon but they are smaller then marsoc and their focus is on recon.
>>33855223
In very simplistic terms, Force Recon is like 75th Ranger Regiment in the 1980s while MARSOC is Special Forces.

Hello /k/. I want to start learning how to hunt. I need to buy a rifle though. There are so many companies and choices to choose from that it is overwhelming. I have 5 questions I would like to ask you to help me on my quest.
1. Which company should I avoid?
2. Which company has a solid reputation for making quality rifles?
3. 308 or 30-06? Tell me why YOU prefer one over the other.
4. Buy a rifle with a scope or without a scope and buy the scope separately?
5. Which company makes quality scopes?
Thank you /k/.
State your budget.
>>33855173
Budget is between $300-$1200. Would prefer to keep it mid range, most likely around the $800-$1000 mark.
>which company should I avoid
For hunting rifles? Springfield armory, Kimber, remington
>2.
Ruger, savage, Browning, tikka, howa, cz
3.
308. Availability and price.
4. Separately. Definitely. Get decent glass, the cheapest glass I think is good would be a vortex crossfire.
5. Vortex, leupold, Bushnell (some), Nikon (some)
You can get a good savage or Ruger and a decent scope and be in it for probably ~6 hundred or even less.
/k/ I'm feeling down, post some Delta pics to cheer me up
Now there's a classic.

I'm a former noguns who's new to guns and has been enjoying my first few purchases. I'm looking to get a .45 handgun with the intent to get a suppressor for it down the line. MGS is what got me into guns, so ideally, I'd like to get a 1911 for the tacticool stupidity aspect. Is there anything I should look out for, in terms of looking for the gun and getting a suppressor for it? Any brands to avoid?
(please be gentle, /k/)

If you're not operating operationally, stop operating. Tax your stamps, jump off the ramps. Get a move-on gramps the tubes won't buy themselves.
>>33855084
Not sure I follow...
>>33855075
Might as well get a 45 pistol can right away. Probably have 10+ months to wait on the ATF to process your paperwork.
As for the 1911, I'm pretty sure you get what you pay for (with diminishing returns). So figure out your budget, your can (+stamp +trust), what do you have left?
Which bullet cartridge has the highest kill count?
>>33854938
.22 lr.
>>33854950
>myth
7.62x39
>>33854950
.25 ACP was used for the stalin purges.
It has been used in both war and homicides since it was invented in the early 1900s.
.22lr may be older but it has fewer genocides/mass executions under its belt.
As for for rifle rounds, x54R seems to be the best bet as it's been used extensively in every war since its invention.
ok k have a question got a chinese military sks made in 1956 and something is carved in the stock anyone know what it is or says i would like to know
more pics of the gun
SKS is very under rated.
Is this a photo of real frogman operator? If so, is there a way to either get ones showing more of his gear or a list of his equipment?
>>33854784
would bet on the french marine or marine infantery frogman sf
>>33854784
Operators gonna operate.
It fits the Danish Frogmen Corps but I'm still not sure because of that SIG550

Choosing parts for a rifle im going to build, any tips and suggestions?

Might as well buy mine :^
Nib is a bit of a meme, just go with phos. I've had that handguard for an AK, I'd recommend a different tube handguard, and Faxon barrels are pretty shitty

Nothing this anon said is correct. Do the opposite of what he says.

Fuck AR-15s, anyone who owns them is a psychotic faggot. AK master race
Ya'll gunna buy my CA RDB fer $1300
Apparently, this was a battle weapon some 5,000 years ago. A "mace", it's a fucking stick with a rock on the end of it. How the fuck did anyone manage to kill anyone else in battle back then?
Let me beat you over the head with one of those and we'll find out
>>33853269
no armor, son
>>33853302
So why use a mace at all rather than a spear or a bow? Reach is king in unarmored combat.
How would you stop him?
>>33853115
run.
Finally. Just went from noguns to hasguns! Last month I moved from Wisconsin to Arkansas, and this place lets me shoot guns my own yard. I'm out in the sticks, and though I have a few neighbors, we are still about 45 minutes from the center of town, and everyone has guns and big ass fucking dogs anyways. They also burn tires, throw molotovs, and shoot louder guns than this lil 20 gauge. The south is so so so much better than Wisconsin. Even though the hunting scene there is huge (I lived five mins from Lake Michigan, and five mins from the WI/IL border) the gun culture here is so much more relaxed it's almost scary. Gun ranges every mile and the Wal-Mart here actually has a gun section, WITH AMMO IN STOCK, HOLY SHIT. (Fucking WI never had any ammo in stock and never carried weapons)
The markings say this is Charles Daly Field, 20 gauge, 3". 5+1. It's for turkey hunting (has a turkey choke) and general kabooms in the yard. Plus it's an extremely light shotgun (compared to the 12 gauge I also got).
Anyone have any tips for anticipation? I find that even though I slow my breathing a bit and follow every tip I've found here I still tend to flinch when I know it's going to boom (no earpro). I also bought a Stevens Browning 620 12 gauge (pics to follow soon).
You guys definitely piqued my interested in guns but no amount of reading or watching videos can even compare to the goddamn fantastic feeling that is actual shooting.
I guess there really isn't a point to this thread, but I'm just so goddamn excited to finally be able to kaboom in my own yard!
Don't you just want to stick your dick in this?
The smell of cordite lingered in the air far longer after I finished shooting.
Also, does anyone have any cleaning tips? I got a cheap-o all gun cleaning kit that has a bunch of Hoppes products in it. Is Hoppes the creme de la creme? Are there better things to clean shotguns with?
>>33852866
Not bad, anon. A 20 gauge will be very pleasant to shoot, and a shotgun is a very flexible. That being the case, it's probably wise to buy a variety of different loads - bird, buck, and slug - and practice with all of them. Figure out what you like shooting. If you want to hunt, Arkansas has an out-of-control wild hog problem, and 20 gauge is a fine gun to go do your civic duty of eradication with. See if you can make some friends locally who will take you along on a hunt.
The real answer to getting comfortable with guns is just to do it a lot until it becomes second nature. So go ahead and blast away!
>>33852866
You literally just described Wisconsin.
Glad you left though. Congrats
