I shot it Wednesday and Thursday without the little scope. Very fun gun. The iron sights are alright but for home defense, theyre a little hard to use at night. Im not looking forward to having to tune in the scope but shouldnt be too bad.

That's one hell of a project. You need to convert it to closed bolt (not easy) and making the shroud is going to be a PITA (Those were manufactured using specially made dies, not just a brake press). Hell, just drawing out the flat requires a solid understanding of sheet metal manufacturing, as the dimensions of the bend change with thickness. If you don't do it properly, features after a bend won't line up properly.
