I want to into Stalking, but open carrying my AR seems both autistic and needlessly risky. I already plan on taking my ccw with me, but I would like to have some extra "fuck off" stored in my backpack just in case. Because poorfag, going with an SBR seems like a poor option. Right now I'm considering an underfolder AK with the barrel cut down and a muzzle device pinned and welded to get that fucker as short as possible. Considered going the side folder route, but doing that without paying a real gunsmith a lot of sheckles would involve permanently fucking the tang, and that seems like a bad idea unless I can get an AK really cheap. Last possibility is a Mossberg 590 Raptor, but I would like my backpack gun to have a bit more range than that. Ideally it wold be something like pic related only not in a inty caliber.

Just take your CCW. Take a 12ga too if you're in bear country or going hunting.

AR pistol and a brace is the obvious answer
you wont find a kel-tec cmr
you wont find a cheap sidefolding AK that you'll be happy with
>Considered going the side folder route, but doing that without paying a real gunsmith a lot of sheckles would involve permanently fucking the tang,
what the fuck are you talking about? converting a fixed stock milled receiver? why?

Shit, went to one a while ago, got a very nice condition Type38 sans mum, but there was this SW revolver and the fucker weighed about
maybe a pound at most, looked at it and it was a damn 44mag, how the fuck would you control it, no comp or weight to mitigate anything, my p64 weighs ore than it did. Anyway there were like 4-5 table of pure milsurp at that thing, so you're just unlucky

The T65 (聯勤 Type 65) is a rifle developed and manufactured by the Combined Logistics Command of the Republic of China Armed Forces in Taiwan. Originally patterned after the Armalite AR-18 that has a short-stroke gas system, the prototype unveiled in 1975 showed a rifle that is heavily influenced by the AR-15 family of rifles, albeit with modified iron sights, a reshaped stock, and redesigned handguards. The designated number '65' refers to the Year 65 of Republic of China (1976), the year the rifle's design was finalized. Upgraded versions were designated the Type 65K2 and Type 65K3.

The T65 series served as the standard issue weapon for front-line usage of the army and the marine corps until being replaced by the follow-on T91 in the early 2000s. T65 rifles are currently used by the Army Reserves, Army Basic Training Centers, and the Air Force.

Alright so where ever I go this gun <pic related> gets praise for being 'an incredible design' and 'a fine example of German engineering'. Yet all I can think is (excuse my autism) it's so fucking big. For god's sake it's a Machine-Pistol, and it's so long and bulky, and when you fold out the stock it's basically a rifle by length. Thoughts on why it was designed with such a long bolt, and why isn't its bulky size(and yet short barrel) mentioned as a (in my opinion) serious downside?

It was a pretty shitty SMG. PPSh-41, Sten, and M3 were all better designs. The Germans tried to use the MP-40 as an assault weapon all too often and the results were bad.

Like most Nazi-era weapons it gets a good reputation despite an inefficient over-engineered design because it "looked cool".
>>
Buddy of mine collected NFA items, his shot nicely and was easy to hold on target in automatic because the front is heavy AF. He said if you fully loaded the mags it had a tendency to jam though.
>>
It's not even very good.
The magazine feed lips were prone to jamming.
It's heavy.
lol only 9mm.

Submachineguns are hard to fuck up, but i dont think the MP40 has a stellar reputation compared to any other Subgun of the war. That is to say, OP, i've never heard this talk of it being incredible of or a fine example of germ. etc autism

If I'm interested in picking up pic related, is there a different pistol that is simply hands down better than it, that I should be aware of and pick up instead? (Barring the 84 from consideration as I already know the double stack variant exists.)
20 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
It would be hard to find a "hands down better" gun

You can find cheaper, lighter, smaller .380s but you may not need a tiny pocket pistol and you may want to comfort of shooting a bigger/heavier gun
>>
>>33894048
I've got one at its the most reliable and easiest shooting gun I own and I've got a lot of choices.
It's not the smallest or easiest to conceal .380 but it's a well made tool that will last you a lifetime.
Do not hesitate about acquiring one just buy it you will not be disappointed!
>>
>>33894248
Boxes this tick for me are,
-Metal frame,
-exposed hammer (able to double and single action)
-common round
-I happen to really like the Beretta aesthetic so that's a bonus
-"decent" single stack capacity
-reasonably compact design (I suffer from the same affliction as supreme emperor Trump, small hands)
-blued finish, and wood grips available

Those are the things I like about this firearm.

In your opinion, based on that, is there something better that comes to mind? (Beretta style design not required, just happens that I do find it to be an attractive design.)
>>33894707
That's what I've heard, a gun collector family friend uses one for his daily carry. Glad to hear your opinion on it as well, I'll definitely consider this one at the top of my list.

How could the Soviet Union be so awful at fighting in the snow when their entire country consists almost entirely of snow? Shouldn't they have been used to it if anything? Didn't they learn from the Germans that just attempted to invade them?

For starters, Stalin was a total nutcase.

Like if you thought Hitler was bad, you wouldn't believe what kind of coconut this ruskie with a 'stache was. Even Lenin hated and warned people about him before his death, but that cunning fox had been rising in the communist ranks by literally eliminating his competition + removing them from history records. When Germany started its WW2 stuff and struck a deal with Soviets, Stalin was already planning offensive actions against Nazis, part which involved occupying Finland.

Now this maniac had already eliminated tons of high ranking officers, people with actual military experience. In their place now stood lots of young, inexperienced rookies, who fearing the Stalin's wrath literally let him hear what ever he wanted to hear. You gotta remember that the WW1 had just ended less than 2 decades ago, there'd been a revolution in Russia, and the whole country was in huge mess in general, no matter the insane manpower. Russian officials thought that if they'd just rise their voice a bit, Finns would give 'em what they wanted, and that Finnish communist parties would even start a revolution of their own and welcome Russian overlords into the country. Too bad that they missed the memo saying that the Finnish "reds" had already lost the civil war those couple decades earlier.

At that point of history, winters still were real fucking things not to be messed with, and no one in their right mind believed that anyone would attempt hostilities in the middle of the season of death. But ruskies did, still thinking they'd march to Helsinki in less than couple weeks, with no resistance. There's stories saying that the first few batches of troops were literally wielding summer gear and parade equipment, so they could throw a party in the capital city.

End result we all know: Finns knew their home turf, and compensated their lack of modern gear and manpower with guerrilla / ranger tactics+ guts.

Nice trips btw

It's been a long ass time since I've seen anything like this.

I've only ever used the American carry in pic related, but I just got my rifle stuck on a metal pole when I had to crouch under it yesterday and it knocked me off balance. What are some good ways to carry a rifle with a two point sling that allow for easy access but are also comfortable to carry for extended periods?

What do you guys do?

Loop the rear portion of the sling around the grip, wear like an AR
>>

Thats actually not a bad idea, ill check that out. Gracias hombre.
>>
>>33893568
All of my rifles are ARs in various calibers

Left side of stock QD
Right side of barrel nut QD

If something I will only use for hunting, Left side of stock, right side at front of handguard

Carry across chest

If trekking extended period, American carry

Trekking extended period but potential to be more ready than American carry but less obtrusive than patrol/low ready African carry
