Brig. Gen. (res.) Didi Ben-Yoash, formerly Chief IDF Armored Corps Officer, presented a simulation of Project Carmel – a future technology demonstrator for the IDF Armored Corps – at the 2nd International Ground Warfare & Logistics Conference

Brig. Gen. (res.) Didi Ben-Yoash, formerly Chief IDF Armored Corps Officer, presented a simulation of Project Carmel – a future technology demonstrator for the IDF Armored Corps. The objective of this long-term program is to develop the technological infrastructure for the future armored platform that will constitute a quantum leap with regard to the primary characteristics of the future platform – operation, weight, size and survivability.

The future armored platform will be light, agile, small, relatively inexpensive and simple to operate and designed primarily for operation in urban areas with the hatches closed. The Carmel platform will be operated by two crewmen seated side-by-side, one of whom will be the platform commander and both of whom will be able to execute all of the activities required in order to operate the platform.

In order to enable operation by two crewmen only, a revolutionary decision-support system will be required. This system will carry out most of the activities currently carried out by the crewmen (including autonomous navigation and driving, target spotting, aiming, independent firing whenever possible plus other features).

The crewmen manning the Carmel platform will only carry out the operations the system cannot execute on its own. The cockpit will be sufficiently spacious to accommodate an additional crew member, who would be able to operate external systems (e.g. ground/aerial autonomous vehicles and stand-off munitions). The third crewmen manning a unit command vehicle will be the commander of the relevant unit (platoon commander/company commander).

The future armored platform will have a hybrid drive system that would enable, among other things, storing of energy so as to fulfill all future operational demands. The platform will be protected by a state-of-the-art active protection system and secured against cyberattacks. The new platform will be able to destroy enemy antitank detachments and rocket launchers. Owing to its small size and light weight, it will be able advance relatively easily through dense urban areas.

Three industries (Rafael, Elbit Systems and IAI) are currently engaged in the installation of the systems required for the operation of the future armored platform by two crewmen. Rafael offered a transparent cockpit. Elbit Systems suggested that the tank be commanded using a crewman's helmet offering similar capabilities to those of the helmet Elbit Systems provides to pilots of fifth-generation fighter aircraft, while IAI offered a combination of both solutions.

According to Ben-Yoash, the Carmel Program draws a lot of interest among the international armored platform community. He stressed that the Carmel Program is a truly revolutionary and unique program in the world of armored and fighting platforms.

"The Carmel Program is intended to develop the technological infrastructure for the future armored platform. In this context, an infrastructure will be developed to enable the employment of all munition types, including missiles. The future active protection program, which is to include highly-developed collective protection in the future, is being developed in the context of the Carmel Program. When it is completed – it will be used for existing platforms (Merkava, Namer & Eitan) as well. This principle (of fitting technologies that had matured in the context of the Carmel Program to existing armored platforms) applies to an extensive range of subjects," concluded Ben-Yoash.

Are PSA AK's any good? I just want an ak to blast targets at generally 40-70 yards at my home range, and PSA seems to regularly have them on sale for what seem like good prices.

Better then I.O and Ras47s.

Probably on par with the wasr.
Its a good entry level ak.

I heard they used to suck shit awhile back I believe, I'd be careful

If >>34005634 says is true I'm sure it can reach much further than that with decent ammo, probably make a great hog gun if you wanted it

Right I would sight in at 100, I just mean I usually just plink around. I don't need top operator quality, haha. Just something solid enough to be reliable and fun.

Alright /k/

Next purchase is gonna be either a 1911 variant or a Tokarev TT-33. Both feel great in the hand, but can't decide. What should I get?

Have been using one for 13 yrs.

Pros :
- Good barrel length for its size
- Compact
- Well balanced
- Reliable if you clean it regularly

Cons :
- This shit is heavy
- Not modular at all (no fucking rails dammit)
- Magazines were not planned to be reusable so they are pretty fragile and will become shit in months, often causing jams
- Does not use STANAG mags

Despite all its flaws I honestly like it

Since the same sorts of films tend to get shuffled around in these threads, let's have a thread recommending /k/ approved films that aren't as popular/discussed, despite being fucking great.

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and Southern Comfort get my praise.
Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence has the best soundtrack of any war film and is pretty touching in a very odd, unique way. WWII Pacific theater POW film.
Southern Comfort is just plain odd, with National Guard getting lost in the Bayou on patrol and pissing off Cajuns.

Recently I watched the movie "Japan's Longest Day" from 1967. Is less a war movie proper and more a political thriller; it is a dramatization of the days following the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, showing all the confusion and burocracy of the Japanese officials deciding about acceptence of the Allied surrunder terms, and the proper procedures for annoucing it. All while the more radical pro-war younger army officers are trying to make a coup so Japan can still fighting.

The film runs for some 2 hours and some minutes, but is pretty good. The cast is also pretty great.

I would also recommend "Decision Before Dawn" (1951) and "Attack" (1956)

/k/ doesn't go on any wacky adventures. the /k/ PMC would just be a bunch of fat fucks and their work would revolve around making sure they keep getting their SSDI checks and living near a good VA hospital. if they're americans, they'd probably all have a chronic illness and be on perscriptions forever. if you're a young guy who wants to have fun you'd try to set something up, but 2/3 times they would cancel and not show up because of medical shit they go through., and they expect you to drive 2 hours through shitty country roads to meet them. then they gatekeep you any time you express an opinion, and constantly try to make you look stupid regarding some firearm concept, because being knowledgable about guns is the only thing they have to feel special about. expect to hear "I've been building ARs for X years" a lot.

And Yes, the PA meeup was fucking garbage, you all are fags, and not fun to be around.

I need help.

I want to make an inhouse bunker out of a walk-in safe like pic related.

I don't really need one, im just doing it because it's cool.

Basically, I just bought my first house and have a comfy salary & I want to spend a little for once.

I'm gonna put this in one side of my garage, for bugout purposes. (Literally doomsday prepped shit) I want to stock it with food, water, guns, and ammo (plus a little cash/gold).

What kind of guns should I have in my arsenal? I live in a suburb of a decently big city.

are you going to be building an army? you're not going to be able to feed them. i mean in a doomsday scenario you won't need firearms, most living creatures are going to be dead anyway. you will need healthy seeds, fertile earth, and clean water.
if you're going to prep with an arsenal, the best way would be to have 3 sets of the same 3 guns and enough ammunition and magazines to keep those 3 guns going for eternity. so a rifle/carbine, a shotgun, and a pistol and about 25k rounds a piece.
even this is overkill though. once someone sees that you are properly armed and well supplied, they'll raid you. and at some point, you won't be able to beat them back.
