Old shit is fun.
Reloading is another wonderful facet to this already interesting hobby.
Singing "rule brittania!" And fucking up zulus.

You really don't have to think long to find a reason.
Honestly I need to get myself one.

>almost every modern bullpup has some complex ejection mechanism because muh ambidextrous
>Ian's new L85A2/3 video shows that a large brass deflecting charging handle does the same shit
Why not just put this on every bullpup instead?
70 posts and 13 images submitted.
>>
A casual observer would note that the charging handle comes far back enough smack a left handed shooter in the face. I don't know if the face bones would stop the bolt from cycling back far enough to function correctly but it would be bad for teeth.
>>
>>34016420
Well then make the charging handle non reciprocating, and just mount the deflector to the reciever.
>>
>>34016438

Most other bullpups already do that by placing the non-reciprocating charging handle somewhere else on the rifle.

Marines tackle their profession with a mix of both extreme aggression and extreme incompetence.

They even manage their funding as ineptly as possible. The fucking Osprey program.

The fact that they were removed fron the Iraqi theater to restricted to Afghanistan along with the National Guard not long after the surge is justified if you ever worked with them.
>>
Because they actually believe their own propaganda, even after basic. The rest of the military grows out of the motard boot phase and cringes looking back at it, muhreens act like they are permanently on a weekend pass after basic training.

Is that the pt709 slim?

I have one, I like it a lot. It occosianally strikes light on white box winchester ammo, though. Once I go through a few boxes of other ammos and confirm it's just on the winchester ammo, I may carry it. Or maybe try and get it fixed/buy another. I like the gun a lot and want it to work 100% and not 99.9% before I carry it.

Is steroid use an "open secret" in the military? I've heard a rumor that sf guys are on gear but that they're not checked for it on a piss test so the chain just turns a blind eye. Can anyone give insight to this?

They used to check for it in piss when I was in but I"m pretty sure some dudes overseas definitely were using it
>>
>>34011243
You're not supposed to use PED's. Period, end of story, doesn't matter what unit, this includes Tier 1.

Each individual chain of command has at least some control of how and how frequently it's tested for. Line units test for it effectively monthly, it is part of the standard urinalysis. POG units kinda depend on how frequently people get into trouble, urinalyses are used as a not-punishment punishment pretty regularly across all the branches.

There are people at all levels that do it (we had a brigade CSM get caught 3 tests in a row...nothing happened to him cuz brigade CSM that was older than dirt). Some even get away with it for extended periods of time. But again, it's illegal to do so and is routinely checked for.

No
>>
>>33997171

What does that even mean? The US armed forces are already largely standardized on metric when it comes to small arms?

5.56x45mm, 7.62x51mm, etc?
>>
>>33997204
For barrel diameters, yes, but when you go to buy bullets for reloading, they are all in thous. Remember that barrels are slightly tighter than their bullets.

Naturally, we all want our cartridges to achieve good muzzle velocities, but how much is enough, and how much is too much? Speed does two jobs: it gives the bullet a flat enough trajectory to get where it needs to go and gives it enough energy to do what it needs to do when it gets there. For the first job, even lackluster velocities will suffice. Obviously, there will be slight differences in aerodynamic drag for different bullets, but for your typical hunting bullet, a muzzle velocity of about 2500 fps is enough. Any more, and the improvements in trajectory are negligible inside practical ranges. The second purpose is a little more complicated. We want our bullets to not only penetrate, but expand, and that depends very much on bullet construction. For traditional cup and core bullets, an impact velocity of about 2700 fps seems about right, which means we will need a muzzle velocity of about 2800. Stoutly constructed bullets benefit from even more speed. The great error of our time is the belief that speed is an end in itself. It isn't. Excessive speeds come at the price of longer, heavier actions and barrels, increases recoil and noise, and more expensive brass and powder. They also increase the risk of bullet rupture.

For what bullet weight? The problem with 223 is that it lacks sectional density. It's a mathematical principle that scaling up an object increases sectional density.

If you believe or spout any of these

>manual safeties on pistols are dumb because you will be too stressed out to use it and get killed
>high bore axis is a big deal
>shooting DA/SA is too difficult and you cannot do it under stress
>you shouldn't go past (arbitrary number) of lumins or you'll blind yourself and die
>shooting competition will give you training scars and put you at a disadvantage for self defense
>carrying appendix is any more dangerous than inside the waistband
>slide mounted safeties/decockers suck
>a $30 holster is the same as a $100 one
>holding a gun at the store is a good way to see if you like a gun

You're honestly a dumbfuck and should sit down and try all of these out to see if it is true before you go around parroting it.
