Hello there my friends, I come to you seeking advice. With all of the craziness and violence happening lately, I have come to realize that my 12 gauge and 2 handguns may not be enough, and I would like to buy a rifle. Trouble is, I live in California, which as you know makes it extremely difficult to get anything good. Would any of you have CA-legal suggestions? Budget is not an issue.

Question for people who have served in the military:
How do you deal with worried parents? Has anyone here almost gone through with joining the military but not because of how worried your parents would be?
I'm in my early twenties and they still just don't even like to talk about the possibility of me signing up. Also it looks like the only option for me left at this point is the FFL so it's not like there would be lots of opportunities for me to visit/call home.

For me? I left at 19 (tried college, didn't work) and didn't come back until i was 23. Parents were career military during peacetime, so they worried, but I told them I would send word because "no news is good news."
Quit being a bitch, go, and chase down something. I can guarantee you'll regret it if you don't.

It seems out of all the battle rifles that get posted, the m14/m1a gets shit on a lot. Now being from Canada, this is the only cold-war battler rifle we can get.
But in the US, is there any reason to get the M1A from Springfield Armory over any other 7.62x51/.308 rifle besides for nostalgia? I read an article not long ago saying that the m14 was inherently inaccurate and that the DMR rifles were all tuned.

i am not sure what kind of breed he is.
the guys at the animal shelter said he is probably a boxer hybrid. his shoulder and neck area is really big and he is much more muscular than any boxer i know.
my vet classified him as boxer, because we have some very firm regulations on bulltype dogs and my little cuddlebug doesnt deserve prejudice and bullying by law enforcement.
oh and also he 'smiles' when he is happy and relaxed

You're not even in the military yet. You don't have an opinion or any stories worthwhile yet. You're already drinking the kool aid and calling yourself a Soldier without even going to Basic yet.
How about this. Go get the Army logo tattooed on your arm so your DS can see how motivated you are to be there. Next go to Youtube and memorize all the cadences, and ask your DS if you can lead cadence the first day of BCT. And make sure to wear your Assault Pack to the airport when you go on leave for the first time.
