I live in a super humid area and am kind of paranoid about my guns getting rusty. I clean them once a month and rub a coat of CLP on them weather I'm shooting them or not, and I put silica packets in the cases, but unfortunately I live in a third floor apartment with no elevator so buying a heavy safe is just not an option, so right now they are sitting in foam cases, which I know is bad. if I use silica gel packets and regular cleaning will I offset that? or is there something else I should be doing

Alabamafag here. Get you some of this:
http://www.brownells.com/gun-cleaning-chemicals/oils-lubricants/rust-prevention/rig-universal-gun-grease-prod31842.aspx
For long-term storage give everything a good coat.
If you have any blued guns keep a rag around that's impregnated with the stuff and use it to wipe the guns down after handling.
Also something like this is better than a foam case for long-term storage:

Snippity snappity, this is now a useful screen-cappity!

I have my .22 and my browning hi power in a gun sock. It's my AR in worried about. It's my HD gun so I keep it loaded under my bed in a guitar case covered by a blanket. I don't want it in a gun sock for obvious reasons. Since it's loaded I generally don't touch it at all unless I'm cleaning it or getting it ready for the range, but I don't want it getting rusted either.
Is a semi-auto shotgun with a drum-mag, filled alternating with half birdshot and half slugs, the best possible tool for a home defence scenario?
>>34052297
u need a bump fire stock too
>>34052297
No
Drum mags for the vepr 12 and saiga 12 are range toys, and not reliable.
Sgm trash.
If molot made a drum mag it might suck too, best keep four tem round mags in a rig. Don't use birdshot, it will be messy in court, as would using alternating rounds in any gun for defense

That doesn't even make sense. The barrel is in the gas tube so that means the round has to fire through the hole underneath the front sight. Seems like a really good way to tear the front of the gun off.
Dumb and non functional.

This reminds me that I wish Ruger sold the LCR(x) as a carbine in 357.
Are there any Wehrmacht reenactors on /k/? I'm looking into purchasing a pair of replica jackboots for an early war impression, and daily use. The problem is, I'm not sure which vendor to go with. I've heard that At The Front's jackboots are of dubious quality, so I'll avoid them at least.
I've gone with lowboots up until now, since I've only done late war impressions. Any advice is appreciated.
I've heard from many people that Russian boots from the 60s make for convincing substitutes, but I've never found a pair in my size.
>>34052015
Hessen antique is good, I have heard of epic militaria as well. Honestly I'm looking to get jack boots as well, for my early war kit as well.
>>34052069
I'll think about hessen then. I've gotten all of my tunics from them, and they've all held up.
So what's the deal with the L85A2?
>Troops generally enjoy it
>No stoppages in a test of 65,000 rounds
>No issues with mags
>Modernized with rails and other useful variants
I've heard people say "The gun so bad even the Germans couldn't fix it" but it seems like they did, so what gives?
>>34051930
That ACOG mount looks fucking retarded.
>I've heard people say "The gun so bad even the Germans couldn't fix it"
Thats an obvious meme. Delete this shit thread.
>>34051930
>"The gun so bad even the Germans couldn't fix it"
That's not what I heard, I heard that "the gun was so bad they had to get HK to redesign it", which is mostly true.
Poor slavshit here. My country experienced war in the 90's.
Let's say that i fear something terrible will happen in a month but i am really poor and can only afford a Tokarev M-57 pistol 7.62x25 9round or a 10/22 Ruger rifle?
So which would be better for self defense in a civil war?
>>34051762
The pistol. You can carry it concealed if you have to move around for what ever reason.
>>34051762
pistol you could defend yourself with but you can hunt varmint with the .22
maybe get the .22 first then hope for the best until you can afford the pistol as well
10/22 if you think you're going to war because you can hit things easier and carry more boolits, M57 if you think things will mostly stay normal but you just want something in your pocket/nightstand to defend yourself with.
Buy food, water and meds too, so probably the 10/22 because you're poor and that ammo is really cheap
I was watching the Inrange video where they're "rethinking the AR-15" and how they're using the polymer lower. I didn't like it at first, but now it's growing on me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI5NPiicXjE (it's the let me finish video iirc)
I came across pic related from a forum looking at ban-era rifles. It looks psudeo-futuristic, and to me looks like what they'd take in a Weyland Corps expedition. The polymer lower just adds to the whole mass-produced, expedient-ness of it. idk it's late af, and i'm rambling.

Honestly making the AR lower out of plastic is somewhat dumb id say, i mean it would be totally ok if the AR stock would be connected to the upper receiver and not to the lower (i truly wonder who's the mouthbreather responsible for that) but as it stand's i can't really accept the polymer lower.
What are the upgrades to the USGI mags that makes all the hipsters like them again?
Also general AR-15 magazine thread.
they're metal n shit n cheap as fuck

Ok folks my next dive is into the realm of a subgun and I need suggestions. Heavily leaning towards the scorpion evo due to price as well as aftermarket support im definitely open to other suggestions, bonus points if there are pistol braces on the market

Brass big boy in 45 colt
loading tube is fucking AIDS casserole and there's a hard limit on how fast you can actually cycle the lever or the whole gun just shits itself and refuses to work
you are basically forced to work the lever slower than a bolt action or the whole thing fucks up
What are some good takedown rifles that would be perfect for survival scenarios? Im trying to find something cheap but great
