>Call over RSO, tell him what's up

>I know about handguns, revolvers and rifles, but virtually nothing about shotguns

>"Range" is on a hillside with narrow mini-canyon things.
>Friends are shooting in "our" range, so I decide to do some pistol shooting in the other direction, using a big rock as a backstop.
>Set up target (Soda bottle, I think), fire first shot
>Hear "ziiiing" go right past my head
So yeah, I almost ricochet'd myself in the face. Good way to learn a lesson at least, since nobody was hurt.

>Reload.
Did you just slap a mag in?
>Shot placement is everything!
>said by guy with a 6 pound DAO trigger
There's a reason why competitive target shooters use super light, crisp triggers. If winning a gunfight is more important than winning a match, then why do we we such poor triggers on combat guns? The reason is that the average gun buyer has never and will never be in a gunfight and knows very little about shooting.
>but light triggers are dangerous
Guns are not supposed to be safe. If you can't keep from pulling the trigger when you don't want to, then you shouldn't even have a gun.

Time stamp and story OP.
Are you a kebab?
A kebabliminator?
A collector who somehow obtained one in the US or other country that's not currently ravaged by a war?
>>34059434
I find this sexy and I don't know why.
You've just enlisted and the US Army now allows you to choose your rifle and sidearm as long as you are able to prove you are proficient with it. What you pick? No ARs, and also assuming your rifle will be replaced with the same variant in full auto.

What does /k/ think about the p938?
I'm considering it for concealed carry and/or home defense.
This would be my first handgun, so I'm very open to opinions from more experienced /k/ommandos than myself
>>34058804
It's pretty good for CCW, as for home you're better off with a long gun. I recommend the sport model, comes with factory tritium sights for defense and a tritium/fiber optic front sight for the range (fiber optic with tritium underneath it).
>>34058804
Fine for carry, but get something else for home defense.
Any recommendations for home defense?
I assume there's better suggestions than just "shotgun"

How would you store a 1911 for immediate use?
>>34058580
In your hand
>>34058580
The m1911 was literally the basis of the most famous code of how to safely carry a pistol.
Basically, cocked and ready but with the safety on.
>>34058580
I store all my guns (with revolvers the only exception) with a round in the chamber, cocked, and safety on if there is one.
how accurate was this film in portraying the battle of okinawa?
100%
I was just there.
I time traveled here to tell you your thread sucks.
>>34058606
thanks for bumping my thread :)
Exaggerated the same way We Were Soldiers was, which is well documented.
Things like increasing the number of enemy forces, increasing the number of American KIA/WIA, etc., and using undocumented/poorly documented sources.
Okinawa (the entire battle) had x3 the causalities of Omaha Beach alone. And at Omaha, only the first wave (Able Company) really got wiped out.
https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1960/11/first-wave-at-omaha-beach/303365/
Was it brutal? Sure. Was it a total fucking slaughter and the worst fight in the entire Second World War?
Not even close.
USSOCOM is trying to put a legit laser weapon on an AC-130. Thoughts?
http://www.defenseone.com/technology/2017/03/air-force-wants-laser-aboard-attack-plane-within-year/135864/?oref=search_lasers%20ac%20130
For what purpose?
Unless the details of this laser are obscured somehow, if its either being reported more or less powerful than it is, it will not be able to beat a simple explosive 30mm shell. The article says it managed to 'burn a hole in a pickup truck'. Completely worthless. This is worthless against vehicles, against international law to use on soldiers, and realistically lasers can be countered easily. I forget the exact name of the material (aerogel? silica aerogel? I don't know) but a centimeter will stop even the nuclear-powered naval lasers dead. They don't have the benefit of complete pinpoint accuracy like they would in vacuum, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this has half the effective range of a 30mm vulcan. This is an interesting development, sure, and in fifty years lasers, liquid propellant, railguns, maybe even plasma based weaponry will be far more useful thanks to some futuristic power capacity or generation, but right now it's just a waste of resources. I think the article also inadvertently said what I just said with 'it's a proof of concept' too, anyways.
Kentucky Fried Kebabs.
Imagine the COIN/CT possibilities. When you have a plane kilometers away, and it can burn people to death, set cars on fire, detonate ammo dumps, etc.
The PsyOp potential is YUGE! As it will take a while for them to figure out it is an infidel laser weapon, and not the fire of allah.

they aren't that stupid. hadjis know the us has advance weapons
So over my time of lurking, I came to the consensus that /k/ really loves the Salomon 4d quest boots. I saw this and I the beta faggot I am I like my jungle boots, in short are these good? If no what jungle boots would be good as a alternative?
As long as they fit your foot. I have extensive experience fitting and selling salomon and their boots, especially their forces exclusive models run chunky in the toe box and narrow in the heel. They also seem to be chronically sized wrong, my 9.5 us foot fits a 9 quest and 9 artic boot fine. If you meet all of these criteria then you should be good. The only thing im not sure of is the sizing. Good luck!

Ok anon much thanks, enjoy your everlasting adventures!
>>34058474
they're basically tall sneakers so its not like they're going to be bad, especially from a largely reputable company
get them or dont nobody cares about you or what you do
Gents we have a problem. Cheap plate armor is on the rise and it is dangerous. The armor itself may stop rifle rounds, the issue is spalling. When it hits the plates the padding may not be hold on enough to protect from the bullet parts from flying everywhere. Plates STOP bullets, not catch them so it has to go somewhere. Where does that include? Down. Into your dick. I am not kidding. Look this shit up. You may lose your dick to cheap plates. yeah it could hit your face, but who cares about that.
>>34058394
Wear cheapo flak jacket over cheapo plates, kevlar will catch shrapnel.
>>34058394
>not taking truck bed liner and covering your plates in that shit
not the best but it does stop some
Would a soft armor vest on top of it work? Then the handgun rounds would be stopped by the vest, and the rifle rounds would be stopped by the plate and the spalls caught by the soft armor?
Most tactical vehicle for getting around post collapse, just add tactical shit.
