Assuming 100 rounds a day, how long would it take to wear parts on an AR-15 enough to have to replace them? How long would the magazine take? How much until I'd have to practically buy a new gun?
Same for an AK.
>>34178645
100 days before you would probably have to replace the bolt, so 10000 rounds. Depends on how fast you burn those hundred rounds each day though.
>>34178645
it depends.
Replacing worn springs routinely will probably be the determining factor. The lower can last forever in theory (the tube only breaks if the bolt slams back enough from a weak spring)
The upper could last just as long.
Springs should be replaced every 10k rounds.
Ive never seen a buffertube, buffer, or magazine, or gas tube wear out.
Barrel will need replaced depending on what you're shooting. Light loads could probably last more than 100k, hot loads can burn a barrel un less than 500. (Assuming no full retard burnout)
No idea how long a bolt carrier will last. The bolt head itself will depend largely on how well its made, but they tend to go early at the cam pin

If FAL has one glaring deficiency, it is the rear sight. Does this aperture perform any other function besides blocking shooter's view around the target area? Was there any reason why this was chosen over something along the lines of M1?
Garand
>>34177793
>he doesn't shoot with both eyes open
disgusting
For that matter, why does either rifle use a circular rear sight and a non circular front sight hood? I find it difficult to lock up a consistent sight picture on my M1A. If you make the peep circular and the hood circular, you can line your sights up nice and even, then just put the front post on the target. Why do people sperg about the M1A having the best irons when considering this glaring weakness?
What would be the best way of buying weaponry in England?

American light infantry in the army sees tons of action, why aren't they given the credit?
>>34177504
Because there's fewer marine infantrymen in service, so statistically speaking you're more likely to be deployed in the muhreens than in the army.
>>34177530
That's untrue. The Marine Corps is afforded a remarkably small area as a BSO. Army BCTs deploy more often than MEUs.
>>34177504
That's not a meme... Or even a thing.
Marines might say we do it better, or first, which is arguable by anyone. But no Marine in history has ever claimed we do it all. If they did put them on, and I'll correct them.

in iraq/afghanistan US soldiers used IR lasers, illuminators, chemlights and strobes whenever and however they wanted since jihadis aren't NV capable except for an extremely small minority
if a future war broke out with a country that isn't stuck in the cold war era and actually issues it's soldiers NVGs, how many US casualties do you think will happen because of bad IR discipline?
and how would IR discipline regs change?
>>34177340
Lots would die and regs would change. It's difficult to shoot with NODs

Its not.

You will make less than a garbageman and do absolutely nothing enjoyable or satisfying.
The best gunsmiths are machinists first, gunsmiths second.
>>34176762
Is absolutely correct. Machinists are in incredible demand; dedicated gunsmiths are not. Advances in gun design and products offering convenient solutions for common problems (ie mounting a scope) have created a situation where gunsmiths are far less necessary than in the past. Do it as a hobby and not as a career.

Would anti tank rifles come back if mechs were real?
Very likely, along with a resurgence of mobile anti armor shit like AT4's and whatever squad deployable anti armor weaponry
>>34176623
I suppose they would, the alternitive is going full Titanfall and having troops carry rockets/anti-armor weapons that are light enough and aforable enough to be mass produced
>>34176623
No. We'd just issue all soldiers with 40mm HEDP grenades and launchers.
Why use AT rifles when the penetration tends to be lower than what we have at hand now?
Which would be better for a backpack gun.
The M85 or the M92? Both would have a side folding KAK brace and would be stored a day pack/BOB.
Why's the bottom one got such a thin stock? Lmao.
>backpack gun
>>34176662
Neither of them have a stock.
>>34176576
If there needed to be a choice, I'd say the M85 only because of ammo availability.
Personally with how much I've seen those sell for I'd look somewhere else, but that's just me.
Both are made in the US, right? They're not virgin imports anymore?
>there are people on /k/ who can't use mildots
>there are people on /k/ who don't know basic room clearing
explain yourselves.
I shoot for fun, I don't LARP.
I originally read that as room cleaning, which is something I'm pretty bad at
why would you ever be in a place full of rooms that need clearing
