News:
-Sara's Kai Ni will be implemented in today's maintenance, which will run from 11 AM to 7PM
-The July ranking rewards have been distributed. The new items are the F6F-3N and F6F-5N night fighters of the US Navy. They are early implementation and an update will be carried out in the Sep 12 maintenance related to night battle mechanics for them.
-There will be standard and night operation versions of the legendary Avenger torpedo bomber of the US Navy.
-A night fighter version of the Suisei will be available as a Fuyou Squadron night fighter LBAS plane.
-There will be updates to normal daytime air combat fo carriers that will be affected by the composition of the attack squads, the carriers' "luck" stat, etc.
-The Summer 2017 event, "Break Through to the West Once More! European Relief Operation", will end today. It is a large scale 7-map "what if" operation taking place in the west. The main operation is four maps, while the extra operation is three maps. The new ships are Hatakaze(E-2 reward), Richelieu(E-4 reward), Sagiri(E-1/E-2 drop), Amagiri(E-3/E-4), Matsuwa (E-5 drop), Luigi Torelli (E-6 Drop) & Ark Royal (E-7 reward).
-More Kai Ni are planned for the latter half of the year. At least one BB and one CL will get a second remodel.
-The 5th year of KanColle will see something "interesting" regarding foreign ships.
-New Akizuki and Matsu-class destroyers are under plans to be added.
-One of the land-based planes planned for implementation at some point is the ASW bomber Toukai.

I'm halfway through chipping on normal, and so far the boss has been easy, and G hasn't given me that much trouble. It's been trollsub princess, and occasional hits from the asswall that have fucked me over. If anything stops me from finishing it'll be losing time to waiting on LBAS morale to recover or blowing all my resources on support fleets that do nothing.

That's tedious but doesn't come up that often. Morale is a pain all the time. Nothing is worse than feeling like you have to sparkle to get through a map, spend the 18 sorties to 1-1 to sparkle - and then some if you're running support - only to see someone taiha on the first node anyway, and most of that morale is suddenly gone. I wish they would either get rid of it and just tune around not having the accuracy/evasion bonuses, or make it so that it is way easier to sparkle. I understand they want to make money from Mamiya and Irako but to me using them and not even getting max morale on some ships is totally useless, but that's up for them to know how much it sells.
I think fatigue is just as shitty, especially on something like E7 where node H would just snipe taihas left and right, and since it's the second node you'd be forced to sit and wait 15 minutes between tries if you were trying to chip without sparkles, for instance. That obviously comes up all the time and why I wish they would completely redo the system, but I'll pretend that "preventing people from playing too much" is a valid excuse, even though it really isn't.

Larger slots don't mean shit to damage outside of opening strike and after 2-3 nodes of elite Tsu, it's nonexistent. FP stays with kakus forever so they have it better during any battle phase.
They get better AA and ASW in favour of FP. Kakus gain a lot of FP and some armor for a few slots. Sara gets a few slots and armor and loses a lot of FP.
Unless slots improve the new CIs, she loses a lot from II.2.

Essex class was kind of armored, they just put it under the deck instead of over it. Made them more sea-worthy and structurally sound than contemporary armored carriers, and gave a bit more room for planes, at the cost of an easily damaged flight deck. With the American's superior logistics and repair speeds that would have been a great trade off if not for the Kamikazes. Still, an argument can be made that it was a worthwhile trade-off. A few of those ships took a hell of a beating and the Japanese never managed to sink one.
