Just push them in to break the glue from the vinyl. Be careful with fingernail edges chipping away the faceup.

>I ordered the volks eye glue gun
Thought you of all people would know better. As others have pointed out there's no need to go this far to fix the eyes. I won't regurgitate the options.

Instinctively, one would press in with their thumbs since it takes a little force to break the glue. The problem is when the eyes break free that fingernail edge may pick up some extra speed all of a sudden. easily avoided if you're careful or use something non abrasive like a polishing cloth to cover your finger.

Tough call. I want to say shake it down to the hole and try to get it out with tweezers but I'd be afraid of deforming the head getting it out. Since it's a Azone body, i don't think you can get parts without buying a whole body, imported or second hand.

Are 1/6 Azone Ex-Cute worth it if I'm wanna get into this hobby? They're a lot smaller but I really love the painting of the face and those awesome outfits. Looks like something straight outta fairy tale. Thinking about newest Snow Queen Mia but she's already sold out everywhere except ebay with 150% value.

Some DDs looks awesome but they are all custom models and needed experience and a lot of money to get a unique and matched look.
>>
>>16548616

if you think they're cute and want to buy it then yes, they're worth it.
>>
>>16548616

I have both and can definitely recommend pure neemos for someone just getting into the hobby. Either ex cute or Sarah series are good. The anime character dolls tend to be not as nice.
>>
>>16548642
>>16548680
I would go with then.
I'll be ordering probably from hobby search and here's the question: are those dolls available limited time only? I don't know if should I wait until Mia shows up or go with Benibara-san Mio while I still can made a purchase on her.

How do you store dolls, it's okay to just let her sit on the desk or rather buy some showcase to protect from dust? How about sunny rooms, isn't that a problem?

Also is there a diffrence with SAL Small Packet or Parcel in avoiding customs?
>>
>>16548895
>How do you store dolls, it's okay to just let her sit on the desk or rather buy some showcase to protect from dust? How about sunny rooms, isn't that a problem?
I have mine on my desk all the time, but I do change their outfits from time to time which helps keeping dust from building up.

Sunny rooms are fine but try to avoid direct sunlight.
>>
>>16542767
If you go with Black Swan, then you definitely won't get your stuff by July. Even January would seem unlikely.
>>
>>16548895
>are those dolls available limited time only
they show up on mandarake usually (unless the doll was super popular like that black and blue Yuzuha), you can find lots of old releases there, even "direct sales" color swaps usually for about the same price (again unless it's someone popular or rare)
Azone clothes are amazing but some black items do stain (be wary of tights/kneesocks especially).
>>
>>16548616
They're very cute. I have quite a few myself. However despite being posable they don't offer much outside of the display case. If you're positive they're going to be a stepping stone to bigger things it might be wiser to save your money.

>>16548895
>are those dolls available limited time only?
Available until they sell out. With the exception of a handful of anniversary releases, Azone doesn't make additional runs. And, there is the second hand market as another poster has said but that can be a gamble.

>How do you store dolls, it's okay to just let her sit on the desk or rather buy some showcase to protect from dust? How about sunny rooms, isn't that a problem?
Display cases or closed cabinets. closet space also works. Some people like to disassemble them and put them in organized boxes, other people just cover the heads with bags to prevent dust buildup. We probably could go on about our preferences so I'll stop here.

>>16549239
>"direct sales" color swaps
Those would be the limited "in-store only" versions, never released to wholesalers or offered online.
>>
>>16550907
>Available until they sell out.
So I actually missed Mia? It's preorder closed & sold out on every site.

I have half a dozen Azones a ton of outfits. They've spent months on end in black shirts, leather vests, black thigh highs, striped nylon thigh highs, striped cotton thigh highs, black thigh highs, black tights. Lots of dark stuff that goes with the Black Raven motif. Never had a problem until i got these sheer stripes.

I keep a spare set of legs just for stainy socks and things. It helps keep my sanity.

I've got an Azone punk style black top and it managed to leave little black stains on my doll's tiddys after like a month, although to be fair I had jammed a pair of L's into it so it was rather taught and pressing the fabric against the skin accelerates staining.

The worst staining thing I ever bought was Parabox overknee-socks. Fucking jesus they stained the doll nearly before I put them on and it was so bad I wrote the legs off, hence why I have the stainy pair.

I got this ensemble from Purple Dream at Dolpa36. Though I'm not as impressed by it now that it's on Miku. This is supposed to be a "dress" and she has on "thigh highs" (barely over the knee) to match. They both ran quite short compared to the display dolls and the website's photos.
>>
>>16552261
>I keep a spare set of legs just for stainy socks and things. It helps keep my sanity.
Same. I call it the "stunt body." Since my dolls are dressed opaque neck to toe most of the time it's really not an issue. I just limit future stains to that body now but so far so good.

>The worst staining thing I ever bought was Parabox overknee-socks. Fucking jesus they stained the doll nearly before I put them on

>Oh, she' still on amazon for 20k
But anon, that's not retail. They might be "fulfilled by Amazon" but look at the seller info. Amazon is worse than ebay now. Personally I think you can do better, even if you have to wait. Paying scalpers just makes them do it more. .

> Guess there won't be any more restock for shops and they finished production of this model?
More or less. In rare cases Items with closed preorders on amiami had a few quantities appear on release (due to cancels/deadbeats most likely)

>The worst thing is the more that I looking for ex cute series I find more and more models that I want to buy.
They're addictive, that's for sure. Now you know to beat the scalpers. I suggest finding a proxy/shopping service that can shop locally if camping and F5'ing isn't working out for you.

So I kinda went hard into Pure Neemo in Tokyo now over a year ago. Of course over the past year I also bought 5 more 1/3 girls and many outfits. And this lil Neemo is just collecting dust. Plus I don't super like her waxy hair.
So I think she needs to go.

She has a Stand.
Hands
2 different casual outfits
Her school idol outfit
Cat maid outfit
Bikini
And all items to make a high school uniform.

I do like the outfits and she is cute but let's be honest with 9 1/3 scale girls I will not be doing any thing with her and I really should send her on her way.
>>
>>16554054
Also this is not really a buy her post I am just testing the waters. See if she is worth anything.
>>
>>16554076
Since you combed her tails out she's undesirable for collectors of the series.

I've had mixed success selling my Neemos second hand, none of which resembling any form of a "return" but was still better than throwing them away. You either need NIB, heavy markdown or sell as parts. Also, It's unclear if you live in Tokyo or just splurged on a visit, should you try for credit at Manda? Or should you try peddling with the Blythe community?
>>
>>16554095
I am not looking for huge returns. It's she is just sitting behind Miku out of sight collecting dust. And I don't have any attachment to her other then she is cute. And things in my life have to mean more then that I have to get rid of stuff I own too much.
>>
>>16554191
last time i sold a 'Neemo I had to be flexible. sat for a bit with no buyer then someone came along and was only interested in the body. Like I said unless you have collector's quality don't expect much.
>>
>>16554033
Guess she won't show up in second-hand soon for normal price due to how new she is. Any ideas where I could try to find her? Already tried bunch of sites and theres nothing except few for 18k on yahoo auctions. And I'm kinda nervous that there won't be another chance if I miss this.

I was thinking about using zenmarket as a proxy, any opinions? Do anyone know what's "Avia Small Package" - never heard of that and it's half cost of normal SAL with faster shipping.

I checked if my country is covered by EMS and it says it is, so why am i getting this as the only option.

And does anyone know what this type of shipping even is? Havent really ordered stuff from Japan before so i never saw this shipping. Anyone got any experience with it? Is it pricy, is it safe? I wanna order from them but i dont wanna be paying double the price of my whole purchase or something...

>>16558031
You might have mistaken my question for the question from the post above mine, im curious what type of shipping "AIR SP registered" is.
>>
>>16558063
SP probably means small packet.
>>
>>16555071
They are likely referring to JP SAL shipping with added tracking number. Essentially air mail but low priority (AKA if they've got room left on the flight) so it's cheaper.

I've never had anything shipped SAL but unless you need the time delivered asap or are shipping something particularly fragile it should be fine.
>>
>>16558128
>>16558137
Thanks. Trying to ship one or two dolls, dont know how fragile pureneemos are since i never had any.

Its kinda bullshit because i checked and my local post office has EMS, yet i cant use that option on the site...

So a quick rundown if you please, how long does SAL take to come to me and how does it compare to EMS in prices for shipping? I heard that SAL had people never receiving their packages or in truly horrible shape, but im assuming that because its registered (tracking number?) its supposed to be handled a bit better? Or is "registered" pointless.
>>
>>16558178
I've ordered SAL before with no problems. I don't remember how long it took, exactly, though.
>>
>>16558178
From my understanding SAL can take quite a bit more time for larger packages because of space constraints. I've heard it usually takes about 2-3 weeks for standard packages but in some cases up 2 months hence the reason you probably want the registers/tracking number in case something happens.

Don't know about the price for a package that size but other than clothing I will gladly pay the EMS premium when available.

I'm surprised EMS isn't an option because that's usually the preferred shipping for larger items.
>>
>>16558229
I see.

>>16558238

Ow, thats hardcore waiting time. How exactly do you even know when you should complain in case something happens if you dont really know when it should arrive? Do you like, have to wait an entire two months before you can legit ask them whats happening with the package?

And yeah, im puzzled about the lack of EMS too, i did send both the stores im ordering from an email through Mandarakes inquiry page, hope they can clarify a bit more.
>>
>>16558310
>i did send both the stores im ordering from an email through Mandarakes inquiry page
Yeah, that's really your best bet at this point. I can't see any reason they wouldn't be able to send your item with EMS if it's available, it's the exact same amount of work for the Mandarake store staff.

Usually at least a full month since the last update on the tracking status. Make that 6-8 weeks during busy times (end of year, golden week etc.). Complaining won't do anything anyway, all you can do is contact the post office and 99.9% of the time you'll get a "it's on its way".

You should just be patient. SAL isn't even that bad. I had things shipped using Surface mail, literally took 4 months, I even thought I'd never get my stuff ever (directly bought to a Japanese guy on YJA, without using middleman). And one day I just received the package, everything in perfect condition.

If you are afraid, just insure packages.

Having a package getting lost/damaged is not the end of the world. We're only talking about dolls here. If you had something valuable (i.e. over $1K), you wouldn't use economy mail but a proper carrier instead.

Had earphones shipped from China, package value was over $2K, didn't care the slightest.

Last, if you were to order something extremely expensive and unique (like over $5K+) you could as well just fly there instead. Return flights to Japan aren't that expensive if you where and when to book.
>>
>>16563315
Sadly there are people out there who think insurance is too much since it adds on to the cost and OHNOES EXPENSIVE. If they're only looking for the bottom line they'll get burned eventually.
>>
>>16563369
Yes it adds up and it's understandable not wanting to pay insurance when you don't have much money or for cheap items.

But if you don't have much money you don't order for hundred/thousands of dollars of vinyl girls to begin with. That's just completely irrational. Buy one less set of clothing and insure your package.

Insurance on its own isn't even that expensive and you can insure regular mail as well, you're not even forced to go EMS.
>>
>>16563417
Well they have to pay to play. the services aren't free and some have more benefits than others which are usually reflective of cost. They also want to believe getting the shipper to lie about the value for customs is acceptable. No, that's how you get on a blacklist. It's buyfag 101.
>>
>>16563315
>>16563417
Hmm, so how can i actually ask for insurance on this "AIR SP registered" shipping? Im not seeing any option for it when trying to order something on Mandarake.

And how do i check how much i will actually have to pay for that insurance?
>>
>>16563519
>http://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/service/option/insurance_en.html
Just ask them. It's really not much. 400 yens for 20K. 600 yens for 100K...

Someone who cannot spare .6% of the value of his package in insurance doesn't even deserve to receive their goods.
>>

Does this mean that they plan to release a new base model for MDD and DDS? I really want to see them put out a MDD with the newer DDH-10.

>>16564812
Not sure if I should get Mayu or see if the line refreshes and something better is there.
>>

Knowing the nips don't expect anything revolutionary. probably v2's of Rena/Mayu/Miiko and v3 for Aoi/Yukino. Buchou needs time to decide if the brown paint needs an extra drop of brown.

Yeah, Mayu's the only one of those that even remotely interests me. The faceups on the other ones just puts me off.

They can retire Aoi and Yukino for all I care, and I never liked Rena. She sort of has that "dead inside" look.

But all things considered, who says this will be permanent? They revived Mirai and Candy, remember?

>Mayu's the only one of those that even remotely interests me

I would be interested in a refresh of Mayu
>>
>>16565417
I wish they would retire Rena. Her mouth and eyes just kill it for me even though the MDD body is cute. I want a new MDD standard model so I can just buy one complete for once.

Well I think Miko is cute but that's probably because she is a DDH-06.

But yah my thing about Mayu is I can't decide to get her or get a DDH-04 and pay for a Face up. So a refresh would be interesting.

Hey, this might be my lucky day. I usually don't see anything smaller than 1/4 in these threads. Would you be willing to split that set? I was really interested in the maid outfit (not the stock one but the cat one). I understand if you're not willing, though. I don't know how the secondhand market for Azone clothes works, unfortunately, so I'm not sure what to offer. If you were open to selling some of the other clothing too (not the stock stuff, I don't want to break your stock set here), I'd be interested in that too.

Maybe they're just going to take different heads for new standard models (DDH-07 to 10), or take the d'accord approach. I doubt Volks is fast enough to already implement the new internal frame considering the DDP isn't even out yet and making several completely new sculpts also seems like it'd be too much.
I wish they'd make Mariko more accessible though.

Out of the standard models I have Miko and Rena. They were my first and I still think they're adorable and totally worth it if you want a complete doll without hunting for customs. Mayu is also cute and there are only very few unmodded customs I've come across that look better.

So how much it will cost to build one girl? I tried looking at default models on volks site and they are pretty bad looking. I dislike mature look with enormous chest but absolutely love cute childish appearance straight outta Carroll's Alice, something like pic related. One look on her can melt my heart. If I understand correctly, what I should be looking up is MDD body.

So the most important is the head and custom DDH-01 looks really nice but what I'm curious is the price, what is reasonable amount for it? There's only auctions but how high they actually go up, 10k? 20k? For example this two are beautiful:
http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n201305823
http://page19.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x476664681
Or maybe there are other head models or sculptors that are selling on another sites with normal buyout model?

How do you match the eyes and hair, on pictures they look amazing but every shop has crappy images and you don't know what you actually buy from it. How hard is to stylize doll's hair? What's the cheapest method to obtain body - volks site or used on mandarake?
And for the last what I fear will be the hardest: dress. Any sites that sell them or again it's pure luck on auctions?

Let's say that my budget at this moment is 50k but I could go a little higher. So, any chance?
How much do you spend on your first doll?
>>
>>16574526
>what is reasonable amount for it?
Value is subjective, affected by factors far beyond cost of materials. Some sell for 30k others go for 300k. There is no real answer.

>How do you match
You really need to use your imagination. If you have to, slap those things together with photoshop to get a rough idea if they coordinate. Probably will help to lurk fa/ so you don't do stupid shit like put cheap chuck taylors with a ballroom gown.

>styling
>what is cheapest
>Hao2buy dresses
Wow full of questions. Baby steps, but we can't hold your hand every step of the way.

>my budget at this moment is 50k
At face value, you should be able to get a body, head (including eye and wig) and clothes for 50k yennies no problem.

Personally, don't fall into the trap that that other guy did with the ill-fated Mio Honda. He supposedly put together his dream doll and then ejected. Get a standard doll, used preferably, and see if it's for you. You can always sell it secondhand when you move on to a more committed doll or if it doesn't work out. Or you just may end up keeping it.
>>
>>16574639
I wonder if that guy managed to sell his Mio. She had a really weird faceup.

>Some sell for 30k others go for 300k.
What I was asking is average price of custom head, of course some will sell ridiculous high but I'm more interested for how much they're bid in the last minutes of auction. If most of them end with 30-50k it'll be a slight problem.

>He supposedly put together his dream doll and then ejected.
I put a little thought in this, I don't want just order bunch of random parts and combine them hoping for good look, but rather find the actual neat photos and copy ideas from them. I long for doll for a long time and now that I've stable job I can do that.

>Get a standard doll, used preferably, and see if it's for you.
Like I said, standard MMD cost 50k and I really don't like it. MMD body in volks store cost 27k, so it'll be better buy the rest separately and when I don't worry so much about heads because they have detailed photos (also I plan to go with "safer" expressions) and I can always ask what eyes they used what really bugged me is hair. It's one of the most important thing when creating doll's image and I'm afraid I could mess in that point cuz I don't have a idea or experience with it.

I assume I was right with using MDD with childish look or should I use normal DD instead? Also which skin color do you prefer, normal or white?
>>
>>16574997
If your budget is based on the price of a standard model and you want better than a standard model, you'll need to relax that budget constraint. If you're worried breaking the bank because you bought the wrong eyes then maybe you should wait until your income can support a little trial and error.
>>
>>16554054
I'm interested in all of those items too, but I don't think I could afford to buy it all (if the total is too much I'd buy some of the clothes and/or the head and/or the body...what size is it btw?)

There is no average price for custom heads on Y!Japan as it has huge fluctuations depending on many factors. There are completely plain looking ones that end up selling for 50-100k Yen and then there are some really pretty ones ending at 7-14k. It depends on who the artist is (if they're popular), if it was listed at an unfortunate time and nobody noticed, if there's a small flaw (it's usually hardly noticeable but will put off Japanese buyers because they're perfectionists) and generally depends on how lucky you are and how set you are on getting THAT particular head. Some even come with eyes and sometimes a wig or other accessories even.
Use a proxy, load up the most you're willing to blow and check listings daily by adding them to watch list.

Tips if you haven't used proxy services yet:
- Most auctions have a time extensions: if somebody bids in the last few minutes the timer extends for another 5-10 minutes, leading to a lot of frustration.
- There's always a better deal just around the corner. So once you win a head, stop looking at more/new listings solely out of curiosity until you're truly ready to get a new doll. Or you risk becoming an idiot like me, with over 10 floating heads. I should actually start selling some because I can't possibly deal with that many.

Personally the most I've spent on one head was 13k and the least was 4k (not counting a more expensive complete custom MDD), solely by being patient. And all of them are really good.

You can wait for the rare occasion a body pops up on Mandarake. Unless it's clearly stated otherwise, they're usually in very good condition and the shipping is cheap.
Depending on the skin tone, you can find relatively affordable normal skin ones at around 20k on Y!J.
Be careful to avoid the old body type and also to match skin tones of body and head.

Regarding wigs. I've got some from Mandarake as well, and while the photos may not be super accurate in representing color, I've only been disappointed with the quality once. Himekazura is nice enough, Volks can be better (look for SD or 8-9 inch).
Clothes are a story for another time. Acquire the head/body/wig/eye combo first, clothes shopping will be a relaxing activity compared to that stressful affair.
If you're careful and patient you should have no trouble assembling one for the 50k at your disposal.
>>
>>16579932
Not too different from the real life version?
Some have a discreet zipper along the back or hidden in a seam, if it's even concealed at all. Otherwise they're just loose enough at the ankle to let the heel slide down. Basically a super long slip-on.
>>
do the body stockings protect against staining very much?
>>

When I'm looking on auctions my main problem is that head being in combo with eyes and wig interferes with my assessment because I look at the character as a whole and don't judge the paint/sculpt as it is - and I assume with another wig it can lost it's charm. For example some noses looks too pointy for me but I could totaly let it go seeing character as a whole. Any ddh-01 auctions available right now with higher quality that catches your eye?

>Tips if you haven't used proxy services yet:
I do, but only for forwarding some stuff. I was thinking about using zenmarket to bid and them ship them to japanshoppingservice as they put your value on a package so I can avoid customs. The taxes isn't event that bad but they can hold your stuff even for a month.

>Depending on the skin tone, you can find relatively affordable normal skin ones at around 20k on Y!J.
I'm little afraid about used body and their joint condition. Volks have MDD bodies on their site for 27k but dunno how often they restock it. I thought about white-skin because normal looks a bit too pink for me.

What specific tags do you use for searching wigs on mandarake? I do something wrong or see only a few. What are wigs size that will go with ddh-01 heads and won't be too loose/tight, should I look for the SD named ones?

Sorry that only what I do is throwing one silly question after another.
For now I plan to buy a head+eye+wig combo, look how it'll come together and if it'll be worth then go for body.

>>
>>16580325
Pic of the boots?
>>
>>16580325

Use a hair dryer or heat gun on low settings to warm the boots up to make the material more malleable. If the heat is too strong for your arm it's too strong for your doll.

Be advised that long boots are likely to stain vinyl shins so take adequate precautions.
>>
>>16580300
On Mandarake under Toys > Dolls there's a tag "Himezakura/wig", or you could probably just search "himezakura", that's the name of Mandarake's wig brand. For a DDH01 you want SD size yes, 8-9 inch or Mandarake's size "L", but if you find one that's a little bigger like 9-10" that's probably fine, if it's too loose you can buy a silicone cap for like $1 to keep it from falling off.
>>
>>16580547

It's Azones Toudou Kirins boots. They are relatively roomy and flexible. I am just uncertain over how easy they should glide in or if I have to push a bit
>>
>>16580821
Forgot to mention that they're made out of some soft PVC or plastic material. Not sure
>>
>>16580984
>>16580821

Well if they're anything like my knee-high working girl boots once warmed up to soften the material they should slide on without too much effort.

When you take them off don't just yank on them. Warm them up again or you risk pulling the foot off with the boot and oooh boy are you in for a fun time when that happens.

Steal your sister's/mother's hair dryer or buy a tradesman's heat gun from a hardware store.
>>
>>16580300
I wouldn't limit the search to only DDH-01, DDH-10 are also made for MDD bodies and they tend to go for less on average (as they don't require too much modding to get rid of the notorious 01 mouth).

I get what you're saying with the wig and outfit they use to present the heads tends to put you off kilter once you have it in your hands. I try to only go for auctions that show pictures of the side of the head as pictures without any wig on. It's easier to gauge weather you can do your own thing with it that way.
Or you if you really like the look of the doll as a whole, try to emulate it by getting a similar wig/eye/clothes.
A lot of pictures are over-saturated, I honestly recommend the Normal skin as the body is cheaper (in auctions) and there are more heads available. In real life normal skin is still very pale. I have both and the SemiWhite skin doesn't look as good in comparison.

As proxy service site I recommend From Japan. I've been using them for years now without any complaints.
They also store your items for 30 days (from date of arrival of the first item), they have low commission fees (300 yen basic forwarding, 700 protection plan). Bank transfer fee is 200 yen I think. And 500 yen for combining any and all items.
They also allow you to set what value is written on the invoice for each individual item. Their packages all go though customs without any charges and my country is pretty strict, just use SAL shipping method (for EMS they always ask for real invoice).

I've got two MDD bodies from Mandarake, one new and one used, Both were in perfect condition. Just make sure you get MDD III body, it's far tighter. Volks is gonna be expensive and you'll definitely have to pay customs.

I have a head from this artist (pic related) and can only recommend them (this auction is for SW head + eyes):
http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e213995356
Also, their auctions usually end at around 10k unless there's one crazy stubborn bidder.

Hopefully not too much I have plenty of shoes that needed a little work getting on but after the first time getting them on and off is a breeze.

>>16580984
>they're made out of some soft PVC or plastic material
Is the surface plastic on the inside? The tights should be able to slide down with a little work. If not, I wonder if you can use a piece of cellophane or other low-friction surface (like paper or translucent scotch tape) to act as a sort of shoehorn?

Or, is there anything in the manual? I have Azone's I-401 Iona and her boots are *hard* molded PVC. I was perplexed until I looked in the manual. Apparently with this doll I had to remove the feet and stand the shins up in the boots. (weird yes, I know)

>>16581033
> tradesman's heat gun
Hair dryers work and heat guns.... be sure to keep your distance and slowly work your way closer. it *will* melt plastic and vinyl if you get too close. just need enough warmth to soften the material.

>>16581381
>Sadly I don't have anyone to borrow from so she'll have to stay bootless for a while
Heat guns and hair dryers are very cheap, and can be extremely useful when switching hands although submerging them in hot water for a minute also works (don't do this to your boots)

I'll be looking into putting magnets in her boots one day

Glad it worked out. When I encountered this on Iona I thought it was a one-off. Disappointed to see Azone does it with other characters. Would have preferred it if they constructed functional feet replacement that looked like boots, much in the way Volks did with any armored Saber

A bit late but those are just mulberry paper roses. like >>16553042 says you can purchase at a craft store, though personally I'd glue them to something non-stretchy because they're a tad delicate. However if you have a Forever 21 nearby, they're currently selling hair ties with flowers on them for $1.90 and they do fit on DD heads. I got this red/pink one and a dark blue/peach one as well. They also tend to have small bow clippies and very dainty jewelry that would work for dolls in the same cheap impulse buy area.

That's Asuna, A version of which Volks already has made. I don't imagine them doing much more than recasting the head with elf ears.

As it turns out, I'm a dumbass. It just crossed my mind to maybe check Twitter for Azone updates. I'm probably not going to be familiar with actual characters, so sorry in advance for that.

This doll is very, very cute. I usually don't like Azone's heads, but this one looks great. I believe those are the new Pure Neemo bodies in the lower left corner. Not sure how I feel about them. The old ones can pose decently. The new ones are probably better, but they're not nearly as pretty.

You missed some pretty good deals this weekend actually. Patience, there will be more opportunities. But if you're on a budget don't aim straight for the most popular artists.
Saturday&Sunday usually have the most going on and then some auctions get overlooked, that's when you should be most alert.

It's one of the 1/6 bodies, so it's just a straight up peg into a hole. The hole isn't too big either, it's supposed to stay in there through pure friction but that friction is nonexistent when the peg is super smooth plastic.

coat the peg with nail polish or acrylic floor polish to thicken it a little

how can i use "finer" brushes if i used the smallest available size?

>>16604453
Other people have said she's cute
>>
>>16606868
You would want to thin your paints then, as >>16605448 mentioned. Even if you use a thin brush, it's going to come on thick and gloppy like yours if it's too thick. It's not like you have much to lose by redoing it. Your second try was much better than the first, think how much better you could get with practice. Don't be afraid to wipe it and start again.

Just another thing; people aren't usually going to call your doll ugly to your face, even if they think it looks messy.
>>
So what is the price for a painted head on YJ usually ends up being (not for a super popular artist)? Is it possible to snag one for 6-7k yen?
>>
sure.
>>
>>16602822
Do they still sell "future" floor wax and it's variants or is it something new now?
>>
>>16606868
Anon, your enthusiasm is exciting. most people just storm off when they hear negative comments but you're clearly very proud. However don't hang your hat just yet and call it a day as there's always room for improvement.

I encourage you to mix a dab of paint in a separate container with a few drops of water and see if you can paint finer strokes. Since you have the smallest brushes, try painting with just the tip. do it on the inside of the head cap so you can test the flow of paint on the vinyl if you must. Experiment. get some feedback from your strokes and try different levels of thinning for different results.

Most of the heads I won were in that price range. And they're all really pretty. For clarity, DD or approx 60cm dolls are 1/3 scale, whereas MDD or approx 43cm dolls are 1/4 scale. Not to step on your toes, just so you don't wind up buying wrong sizes. MDDs take 1/3 scale wigs and eyes because they tend to use same-size heads, but they'd take 1/4 or MSD scale clothing and shoes.

How bout some "cosplay" items (like for example Excalibur wouldn't be too complicated to print and I'm sure there are models for other typemoon shit around) or props that would be otherwise hard to get? Also if you want some inspiration for dollhouse stuff there was a Doll Cooordinate magazine about that (you can find it in the google album archive, the link is in the /toy/s BJD thread OP).

You shouldn't be. USPS sucks, and Volks USA is way more expensive anyway.

They do.

I personally prefer ordering from the international store because of stock availability. Shipping will cost you about the same and EMS from Japan to eastern Canada is usually 3-4 business days so still pretty fast. You might also want to check the exchange rate between both.

The only upside to ordering from the US store is they tend to fill and ship your order a bit faster.

>>
>>16642260
I think it might depend on how regularly you import stuff.
I've been getting packages sent regularly for years, stuff declared between $50 and $100 is a 50/50 for me. 90% of packages over that value get taxed, it's awful...
I usually have stuff shipped EMS but apparently using SAL greatly reduces the odds of being checked at the border.

How the automatic extension on yahoo auctions works? If I understand correctly, each bid after set time time by 5min.

So there was an auction that ended at 14:00, I bid it at 13:58 and it extends to 14:05. Then someone outbid me for 100yen 10 seconds before end and auction ended at 14:05. Why doesn't it extended by another 5 min?

Has nothing to do with lists. EMS is just very likely to get taxed in certain countries in EU. France or UK will see EMS taxed 100% of the time if the declared value is over a certain threshold. It's just an automated process now.

The only way to bypass that is to declare a lower value. I shipped a DD3 Body + bunch of accessories + DD custom head to a friend, declared 5K yens + marked package as Gfit, no tax, even if the package was huge as fuck and weight over 3kg.

(quick picture from work)

>>16644381
Post the logs or link to auction (no one care if it's over, we're not going to steal your item). It's not supposed to happen like you describe. You most likely weren't leading bid at 13:58 even if you thought you were.
>>
>>16644004
Looks like a normal auction for a good looking face.
>>
>>16644647
Congratulations! You so clearly missed that the packages are UNDER that threshold! And gift marking doesn't work, they just ignore it, since they know where it's from and who ordered it.
>>
>>16644879
What's your country? And what the "threshold" that you know? Because it's as low as 30 euros in many places.

So please show me how they'd tax you on something you declared below 30 euros. And even if they did, it'd be super cheap anyway because the declared value was low.
>>
>>16644778

Thanks! It's time consuming though since I'm moving her almost daily between home <> office, and do everything in-between with her (unless raining).

Wind is constantly messing up her hair. My detangler became an everyday carry, like my phones or company badge... I'll probably buy a second one and leave it at work so I can brush her when I arrive.
>>
Does anyone have advice on how to maintain wavy doll hair? I thought brushing it would help, but now it's just a mess.

Wow you picked a troublesome wig style to maintain and you are an asshole. I feel bad for your girl. Post an image so we can see her happy before you destroy her hair and happiness.

OP here - I did not post >>16647880
Wow, I never thought I could get so annoyed because of anonymity. I feel like I have to apologize for something that I didn't even say.

>>16647880
Thanks random asshole for your useless snarky comment. Please don't make snide remarks on my behalf.

>>16647305
Picture attached. Sorry for the delay, and any help is much appreciated! Also, I apologize that some random anon thought it would be funny to be a rude asshole.
>>
>>16653531
It's okay, anon. Shit happens.

Alright, so first things first. Do you remember what brand this wig is? The model would be nice, too. I just don't want to recommend something for heat resistant hair when the wig isn't heat resistant or something, you know?

This method is going to work for any type of wig. For starters, you're going to want to soak the hair with wig spray. Don't put the wig into a bottle of spray. Just spray it until it's damp. You can make your own wig spray if you don't have some already. There are a bunch of various tutorials, but generally speaking, it's between a 1:4 to 1:2 ratio of fabric softener and water. Keep the mix on the wig overnight and rinse it out in the morning. Then, brush the hair and let that dry on its own.

How important is it to take bust size into consideration when buying clothing?
>>
>>16655605
Pretty important. Many shirts and most dresses will look strange if they're too big, and putting a larger bust into a small shirt or dress can damage them in addition to looking bad. Some things you can get away with being a bit baggy, like sweaters.
>>
>>16653871
Thanks for understanding.

I also happen to be one of the few with 1:6 dolls. The wig is from parabox, it's wavy, and I'm fairly certain that it's not heat resistant.

Thanks for the advice; I'll try it out when I get some free time.
