Is there a download of the stream yet?

I was at the show. It started late, and the shitty DJ went on for way too long. However, the actual show, while short, was great. The girls crowd surfed, how awesome is that? The company may be trying to ride on Babymetal's success, but their songs are catchy and the group is having a good time.

They're not run by a big talent/idol company (I think a clothing company?), and they don't have a large fan base, so they have a lot of freedom with crowd interaction, as well as with their own actions, for now at least, that you don't get with normal idol groups. It was nice to see and experience. Taking pictures with people who bought merch at the end was awesome of them. They had initially said pictures only with Ladybeard, but in the end the whole group came out. It took fucking forever because it basically turned into a quick meet-n-greet for each person, but it was awesome that they did that. I felt horrible for the girls having to hug all these sweaty nasty obese NYCC weebs though. And Ladybeard's persona may be annoying, but he's actually a cool dude.

It was inside Anime Jungle, they had cleared all the racks and moved them to another part of the store.

dont think it had any. the sound was pretty bad at times because of this, shitty speakers, and reverb. It was such a packed/small performance however it was still fun and not terrible.

I got there around noon, and the line was already at least 80 people. By 2pm (when the line was officially allotted to form) it was already 300-500. When they did the count for cut off, I overheard something like 700 but wasn't paying attention. They ended up cutting off at 250 instead of 200. Then those 250 went to buy merch for the wristband, and corralled into another line for the concert.

they ran a small amount behind schedule, and some worker drone from jungle tried entertaining the crowd + shitty dj for the first half hour. Eventually LadyBaby came out, and they did a small q/a (although they brushed off the 'are they single' question) and found out Rei and LadyBeard like Slipknot. Im sure you can find someone video of it on social media, as everyone had their cameras out.

They performed three songs, two which were new, and then had some costume show which included some ugly white girls but when the band came out it was nice.

The best part of the whole thing, even though they ended up rushing at the end, was the photo op which they also opened the doors for those who didnt/couldnt get wristbands for the show.

The band was very fun overall.

They're heavy enough where they're labeled metal, but maintain a rocky poppy alternative sound in a good amount of their songs. Makes them pretty accessible, allows for "oh yeah, I like metal \m/" and the coolness status people get from their friends for liking "metal". Take away their gimmicky costumes and art style, and they're not much. It's pretty unfortunate. Death to false metal, Hail Satan, etc

They're definitely feeding off the crumbs that Babymetal left behind, so is every other "kawaii metal/death pop" group out there. There's definitely potential for all those groups to get bigger, whether that's domestically or overseas is a bit of a coin toss I think.

Their audience is made up of people who can just enjoy them and have a good time. It's nice to have something refreshing in the idol scene. Wotas are great for sales and group longevity, but... you know how they are. Like Ladybaby or not, but you're completely deluding yourself if you think they can attract the proper metal crown the way Babymetal did. It's just not happening with Beard being the Beard. As long as he remains basically an infantile version of Conchitta Wurst they are not even in the same universe as metal.

At best they will attract some lol so randum weebs who think they're edgy because muh distorted guitars. There are maybe 5%, at most 10% of those left in the massive Babymetal fanbase now.

If anything, Deathrabbits have a massively bigger chance of being noticed by the metal crowd because Bucho is pretty metal and their image overall is pretty metal too. And metal is a lot about the image.

Not hating, just being realistic here.

The same was said about Babymetal about how as long as they have singing & dancing girls they'd never be a real metal band.

But yeah, there is just something about Ladybaby that would currently prevent them from breaking through the metal barrier. Mostly their sound, besides Nippon Manju they're not all that heavy. Bucho himself avoids the "kawaii metal" label that babymetal first adopted and instead went with "death pop", as well as drawing more form his speecore/gabber/electronic hardcore background than proper metal.

Of course the line that separates those genres from proper metal is a very thin and changing one.
