I live in western Canada near the rockies where culture mostly revolves around mountain related outdoor activities. There are always many Japanese tourists at the ski resorts. This is different of course than a culture obsession but I want to mention them anyway. They are my favorite country of tourist on the slopes. Almost all are intermediate level skiers with good manners about right of way. Always have top of the line gear. Never a nuisance like some brands of tourist (americans, the french).

This is partially why Japanese imperialists took over the country, to drive out the massive wave of foreign influence and reclaim their culture.

After they were beaten in WW2, America rewrote their constitution to a democratic one and made them adopt a western-style public schooling system.

Under the guidance and protection of America they've been importing new tech and culture ever since. China is basically Japan without the western influence.

There are a few niche subcultures who are especially focused on firearms and following the latest western music releases. Other than that, eating western foods or indulging in western entertainment is not some special thing.

It seems most Japanese who are into 'American culture' are affiliated with hip hop or black music genres. Some girls are really into it and even try to imitate their idols, basically trying to look 'black'.

Recently, there's a middle-aged ugly woman coming to the Hub in Shinsaibashi every single day.
Usually she is sitting there alone, always on her phone.
She's trying to hit on almost every avarage looking white guy there.
The real creepy thing is that she probably got something like tourette, she makes weird gestures with her arm and occasionaly talks to herself. Every few minutes, when the bar is crowded, she gets up and takes a pic of everyone. I avoid going to that Hub alone for a beer since she tried to hit on me like 2-3 times...
