Brazillian accent is an amalgamation of different linguistic elements,they got german,italian,tupi,african and spanish.
The european portuguese diverged from the steriotypical italic ''sound'' much like french.
The process has evolved since the middle ages and today the language is much more different than it was before,the language evolved,the people way of speech evolved in a way to make conversations more efficient(hence shorter) and this is why it looks like we cut alot of vowels from the words while brazillians entonate alot
