I don't know any historical books about it from the Polish perspective about it but I read a great dairy by a German Surgeon who was in Koingsberg in '45 and lived for 2 years in both the Soviet and Polish part of East Prussia. I read it in polish but I don't know if there is an english translation. The original title is Ostpreußisches Tagebuch by Hans von Lehndorff

He paints a vivid picture of a man needed by all sides but vilified by them as well (doctors were scarce. Nazis thought he was a defeatist and Soviets and Poles simply because he was German) who watches the land of his childhood destroyed by war
