Almost everything.

Wages, living standards, access to commodities, etc. One might lament over the easier access to apartments and jobs during the communist era but that was the problem-it wasn't sustainable and the entire economy was going down the shitter. I'm sure it's worse for the people who were "experts in mixing fog" during the communist era though.

The only shame is that Yugoslavia collapsed the way it collapsed trough a war which ended up costing everyone.

Note that this might not be the case for every ex-yu republic, Bosnians and Macedonians tend to be rather nostalgic more than the rest. For Bosnia it's obvious why.

>get invaded by genocidal German, Italian and Hungarian war criminals

>a year later, communists force everyone to take an oath of allegiance to the Party
>Tito starts sending Serbian commanders up to replace native ones and to ensure we don't liberate ourselves
>even during the war, Croats insist on a border in Istria that assigns all of the ethnically mixed areas to the Croatian side
>the most popular Slovenian partisan major dies in a mysterious mortar testing incident
>he is immediately replaced by a Serb
>during the last days of the war, Slovene and Croat units liberate Trst
>Croat partisans joyride around town on jeeps, shouting that Trst is Croatian
>the year of the war's end, Tito calls his Slovene right-hand man Kardelj to his side and demands that the teaching and official use of the Slovene language be abolished
>in 1960, Croatian police occupy a large village in the federal republic of Slovenia that had been annexed by Croat Nazis during WWII, then returned to Slovenia
>it is still in Croatia today
>in 1972, a popular liberal socialist Slovenian politician was ousted as PM of Slovenia for trying to build a highway across Slovenia
>for 50 years the Yugoslav authorities resisted the idea of all of Slovenia being connected by highways because it could have spurned Slovenian economic growth, leading to a gross imbalance with republics such as Bosnia (for which Slovenia provided a sort of interstate foreign aid anyway) and thus to secessionism
>in 1987, Milošević called on Slovenian Serbs which had been imported in their tens of thousands over the preceding two decades to seize power from Slovenian politicians

Nah, I'm fine.

He was a Lt. General actually.

Also, your version of history is very nationalistic lad.

You do know economy and standards rise over time, ofcourse Slovenia which had very little war damages during it's "war" improved a whole lot, meanwhile Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro which suffered medium damages trough the war stangated their improvment is hardly visible at all but it's there, and bosnia the country that suffered the most not only did it not improve but it sucked dick.

Because of the war and the breakup of the Country the economies of these countries which were tied together as companies from one republic relied on companies from other republics for trade.

Imagine if there was a peaceful breakup or no breakup at all with the confederation solution, you know the economy would be far better.

And yet it somehow exists, don't be retarded, plus you are forgetting that the two most powerful men in the state were Slovenian and half Slovenian

Well yeah, but the huge difference was there before any kind of war, in fact it was there before the first Yugoslavia even formed. By 1990 "we" were essentially chained to a corpse economically speaking.

>Because of the war and the breakup of the Country the economies of these countries which were tied together as companies from one republic relied on companies from other republics for trade.
The break up had nothing to do with it, the war is what made trade impossible, and yes, a shit load of industry collapsed, especially in Maribor.

You're also forgetting the masses of industry, specifically the arms industry and specifically in Bosnia, which was essentially subsidized by the federal government which bought the finished products for the army (which no one needed any more at least not at its size) and it did that from the budget it collected from all of the republics. In essence money was syphoned from the "rich" republic to the "poor" ones trough this scheme where factories were paid for shit no one needed. Not to mention all the tariffs and protectionism which made our industries as a whole uncompetitive on the global market.

>>51112189
>And yet it somehow exists
I'm pretty sure he was talking about the command language in the army. Tito removed Slovene at the end of the war, which is kinda ironic since he himself was a native speaker of Slovene.

Of course that Slovenia and Panonia would have higher literacy rate when they spent most of the last millennium in peace, while the Balkans were in a never ending war time from the 14 century up until the 20th one.
Only the most tough people stayed there since it was kill or be killed, the rest either died or went north.
>>51112424
Slovenia was a whole lot better for the reason that the tertiary sector i.e services were mostly placed in Slovenia, not all of them but most and these bring in the most of the money, the rest of the country relied on primary/mining/harvesting(Bosnia and Macedonia) and secondary/industry(Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro), Croatia had tourism so it got money off form that too.

But without the cheap goods from the rest of the country all that service based economy would be useless

Eh, you should probably brush up on your history because at this point you're just ignorant.

>Slovenia was a whole lot better for the reason that the tertiary sector i.e services were mostly placed in Slovenia
Such as? Slovenia had something like 5x the GDP per capita from the industrial sector in 1920's compared to Bosnia and 2x that of the closest second region of Yugoslavia (Dalmatia) and roughly 3x times the Yugoslav average.

Literally the only thing Slovenia was lagging behind in was agriculture and even that only after Slavonia and Vojvodina.

>the rest of the country relied on primary/mining/harvesting
Again, you don't seem to be well versed on Slovenia, coal extraction took place in several Slovenian cities, Trbovlje, Zagorje (brown coal) and most importantly Velenje (lignite), even Uranium was extracted in Slovenia, among other things like zinc&led (one of the oldest in Europe), quick silver (2nd largest mine in the world for quick silver), etc.

>not all of them but most and these bring in the most of the money
Most of the money was brought in by industry, mid to high tech. Things like hydro, electronics, chemicals, pharmacuticals, metallurgy, etc. shit not a lot of people knew how to make.

>But without the cheap goods from the rest of the country all that service based economy would be useless
Is that why Slovenia experienced the highest growth in history as soon as we shed the weight post independence? Cheap goods can be bought from Africa, China, India, South America, we even imported coal from asia at one point because there were no more tariffs in place to protect the inefficient and uncompetitive industries in Yugoslavia.
