How does /int/ think about the Anonymous's declaration of war to ISIS?
Are they likely to make situations better?

"Anonymous" is not at war with ISIS, *we* as in the general public is at war with ISIS. Anyone with the right skills are free to join in the cyber-lynching.

"Anonymous" as a group doesn't exist. We are anonymous.

ISIS and other jihadi groups actually use a whole lot of internet. It's how they distribute their newsletters and recruit people from all over the world. You think loner pothead Jimmy Wonderbread in california suburbia #56798 joins by going to his local mosque?

Exactly. If they recruited via Internet, someone would already send double-agents to them and killed 'em.

But there isn't a central group. Old-style hacking groups like CDC were/are small groups where everyone knows each other.

But this isn't even a loosely affiliated network, some dopehead puts up that video and suddenly "anonymous is at war with ISIS", people join in because why not, some twitter accounts are brute-forced -> "anonymous did it".

There's nothing to join or be a part of.

Dude, there's been whole books written on this shit. Cyber recruitment. e-jihad stuff.

They don't actually recruit through the internet itself, what they do is they set up websites that are fairly ordinary, albeit pro-whatever group and curious bodies arrange some kind of correspondence. And yes, young people have been caught for trying to leave the country to fight in wars in the MENA before.

They also have groups of hackers who attack other Muslim websites. ISIS and Al-Qaeda aren't mostly poor shepherds and dirt farmers who can't read, they usually get their recruits from middle and upper class engineering backgrounds and shit. Bin Laden was a perfect example.

lmao, why would people with education fight for the backward religion? The 1st step I'd made to contradict the modern Western society - I'd stay away from Internet as far as possible.
>>
This poster >>51101748 is an islamic terrorist. Don't expect anything he says to be truth, as even if he seems to be making sense it is only clever trick to confuse you.

Also just because you are intelligent, educated or both does not mean you can't be fanatical. Although the more intelligent islamists are less likely to be the ones who are blowing themselves up.
>>
They should ask American government permission first. All these networks they're taking down could be uses as intelligence sources.

There was a book I saw in the library once called "Mullahs on the Mainframe," wasn't about terrorist cells but was supposed to be about Ismailis and their use of modern tech to connect their communities together, which probably would give some idea of how most muslims adapt to it.

I've also personally seen internet beef between Sunnis and Shi'a myself that results in one side hacking the others' websites

Also, vids

There are plenty of poor jihadis, but most of these people aren't in it for the ideology, they're just trying to get enough money to put bread on the table. It's the middle class and upper class who do all the ideological and organizational work. It's just like Marxism. How many suburban middle class hipster commies have you encountered? Was Marx a factory worker?
