I know literally one person who is older than 25 and lives with his parents, and he is borderline retarded. So 10% seems a bit much.
>>
I don't live with my parents ever since I was 18, but I still depend on them for money and I'm not proud of that.

If you can only afford to live alone because your parents give you money or you receive government benefits you're no better than south europeans who live with their parents.

I tecnhically live with my parents despite living in another region of Italy because I never legally changed domicile lol
>>

That is just retarded. There is no possible way a 18 year old could make enough money to live on his own without any support from either government or parents without giving up any form of interest and just slave away for 50 hours a week on a dead end job.

Exactly.
My point is stop acting conceited towards people who live with their parents if you can't afford to live on your own by your own means.

In south it's really hard to find a job even with a doctorate. If you wanna eat you don't have so much choice.
In Italy population is idiot and lazy to work so or they join mafia and don't work, or Padania keep their ass up and they don't work...
>>
I'm 21 and I don't plan to stop

>DUDE LIVE ON YOUR OWN WHEN YOU'RE 18 LMAO
Why? Living meagerly with less luxuries for false sense of independence? Currently doing studies and if I were to move out, I'd have to work, putting less focus on my studies or have to somehow receive some form of aid from the government, which in turn goes back to the false sense of independence of moving out young.
>>
because they are and we are poor
>just get a job anon haha what are you doing

like i said, we are poor
i have a job
if i move out, i can eat and live in a 1, spending all the money on bills and food
so i rather save up and plan on buying my own shit
flat prices are through the roof, building a house is considered luxury
>>
>>51063274
no idea but i sure as hell aint gonna be one of those

i legitimately dont know if its due to the recent unemployment problem or culture. i think a combination of both in the case of western mediterranean countries like greece, italy, spain and portugal: high unemployment makes it harder to get a job, which means losers are left out, and mama culture makes them lean towards staying at home instead of trying harder.

it's not unusual to hear a certain kind of people say that they have to live with their parents at 25 because it's impossible to work in spain
>>
>>51070057

data on the share in spain in 2008 would be very useful to find out. but i dont feel like looking for it. you know what they say about spaniards on /int/

French are basically southerners who live like northeners.
>>
>>51070493
Who are you to say so?

t. anon who will finish university at 35
>>
>>51070729
I am completing my masters in EE, will graduate when I am 25. Started when I was 20. At 25 you should be able to start a family, have a job (thus education) and be a net contributor to your community. You spent 10 years not having your degree, I couldn't see myself providing for my family while studying.
>>
>>51070493
Rents in Dublin are also very high and since all the jobs are here there's huge competition for places. The government has actually had to force landlords to freeze rent for the next 2 years. Like if you have any kind of useful degree, your only option is Dublin or Australia 2bh

it's cultural, northern europeans are more individualistic and less family-oriented, more into self-realization, being independant, being free thing

i think it's even higher among arabs
>>
>tfw you moved out at 24

>>
>>51063274
Because there is socialize state funded housing in Scandinavia. Having your apartments in Russia means hard hard HARD working. In Finland you should simply do nothing.
>>
>>51063274
Look I understand you northerners are all self hating family hating nation hating God hating pieces of shit. But the rest of the world cannot live like you. It's just not a good way to live.

As far as I know the top reason for a single Westener to move out of his parents is to be a complete degenerate. In 4chan's case it's to be a complete degenerate virgin. In other words to masturbate in peace.

Fact of the matter is you won't get a gf if you move out. You're a piece of shit.

I moved out when I got married and wanted to have kids personally. That's the correct way of doing it.
>>
>>51063274
Do you Scandinavians instantly enter the workforce after you turn 18 or are there good government benefits and general cheaper housing over there? Those percentages are mad
>>
It's really fucking insane.
I'm 23 and I'm already feeling like shit for still living with parents, even though I'm a student, and even though most of people at my age still live with parents.
Yet I notice shitload don't even bother, plenty of 30+ guys living with parents.
>>

Poland
South

Richest countries have better opportunities for young people. People live with parents to save money. In the GDR everyone lived with the parents as well.

Because they're all too poor to afford a home. It saves money to live with their parents too
>>
>>51076499
What's your point?
Most people in southern-Europe are kinda poor AF and on top of that it's their culture, it's not weird to have multiple generations living in the same house there as well.

As for Americans, it's 16% here as well, which isn't odd if you look at the lowest 16% of your generation in terms of education and such.

Lets see I can split rent 3 ways and be miserable living in a shitty apartment or I could live in a giant house with my own room, my own bathroom, bills paid, full refrigerator at all times and live with my mom who is never home anyways.

I'm a wop anyways
>>
>>51076758
Any poor country is a good retirement destination. Your savings last longer and go farther. Plus, Uruguay has beaches and whatnot, right?
>>
>>51076758
Uruguay is a great place to retire to - not too expensive, politically stable, sunny, etc.

They're still retaining a property in the US but my brother isn't going to be able to live there because my dad lowkey hates my brother haha
>>
>>51076875
I'm sure Uruguay has nice beaches and all but old people tend to need health care and stuff

My parents are only 48 so they're not too old

Also Uruguay's healthcare system isn't terrible, there's a not insignificantly large retiree community so facilities have grown around there

There are large American retirement groups in Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Panama etc

>>51077085
Well retiring at 48 is pretty impressive
>>
>>51077173
my dad was an early employee at a now large internet company in the US

he could honestly retire very comfortably to France or Italy or Spain or Greece, not sure why he chose Uruguay
>>
Bad job prospects, hard to climb the workplace ladder, a strong culture that promotes dependence on parents (especially among men) because being independent and knowing how to take care of yourself and your house is considered feminine.

Only people that i know of that successfully left the nest by 25 were my trust fund cousins and my mother that gave no fucks and emigrated with a light baggage to Guernsey in the 80's. Success is hard to achieve in Portugal since the most qualified college graduates have to compete with people who already have someone inside the workplace that favors them.
>>
>>51077250

I don't even know how people do it here besides splitting rent with unknown people and living like a complete savage and working a terrible low end job. That or having rich parents but I don't consider that independent.
>>
>>51077465

Y'know, you could go to Canada.
>>
>>51077465
I was able to get a full ride to a good school because I grew up dirt poor but did pretty well in high school, so now I'm 24 and live alone and have a good programming job

But I think most kids who grow up in poor conditions are kinda doomed because I think to some degree intelligence is hereditary and their parents are poor to some degree because of stupid decisions and the cycle just continues
>>
it's because of this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hajnal_line
t. scientist
>>
>>51077822

Stupid parents hinder any child's future, regardless of intelligence. My mother taught me valuable life lessons like cooking, cleaning and how to not be all around a naive person, but she didn't teach me a single thing that was related to school.
Not that she didn't want to, she just didn't have the time or strength to guide me throughout my academic life. She has basic 6th grade math knowledge, her Portuguese is often littered with grammar errors that I inherited and still struggle to get rid of of them.

I don't blame her for anything tho, if anything I thank her. If she didn't pull all those all nighters working shift after shift to get us by I would probably be living on the streets.
