75% of Canadians live withing 150km of the American border. It's a lot of empty space. I suppose it's a product of us having too much space possibly, there was never enough people to colonize the area in between cities so it's all just open land, and the north especially is barren.

Either way, our country developed in a way where pretty much everyone lives inside giant urban cities and there's nothing but highways between. I actually can't for the life of me figure out why empty land is so fucking expensive but it's literally half a million just for a shit little house on a tiny little scrap of land.
